abense
I just used the auto-update. I had to re-install the gma950 drivers and my sound driver. Everything works great now! Sleep is still not working! Riaz
Hi guys... How are you doing? Back again after a long silence I just tried the Combo Update 10.5.7 from 10.5.2....hehe... like I said after a long silence... Now the system screwed with AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement and I get a Panic (CPU 1 Caller 0x........) Even though my HPET is enabled on BIOS, it is showing no HPETs available /SourceCode/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement/...... Well I wasn't around for a longtime to update any of the last updates so please bear with me in this regards and guide me to fix it. Thanks Riaz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/166083-1057-has-been-released/page/2/#findComment-1154559 Share on other sites
SnoopKatt
I did it with my setup listed in my signature and everything works perfectly. I did not need to install any new kexts. Hope that helps anyone with something similar to mine. Auksjunkie
Just updated my 10.5.6 system to 10.5.7; it was only a 228 MB download for me (I used the "auto update"). Install went smooth, though after restart my audio and system profiler were borked. Fixed them by simply reinstalling the affected kexts. Tested the internet, sleep, and WoW, all are working as they should. Hope this info helps someone. System specs in my sig. invisiblesurfer
Can the RETAIL 10.5.6 users update directly via software updater? SonicArt
Downloaded the Combo install and it worked fine for me. However, I noticed that my shutdown/restart got slower and I decided to fiddle around a bit. I found out that if I removed the AppleLPC.kext and AppleHPET.kext files from the extensions folder and now the shutdown/restart speed is as it was before. It might be my imagination, but my system seemed snappier. If any of you guys would confirm my findings that would be great. pentiumx
Speaking of AppleLPC.kext, that is the kext that many thinkpad users have to remove in order to get sleep. So if you're not getting sleep, that couldn't hurt to try. And BTW, I don't know how to disable it via a custom disabler kext in EFI / Extra, so please share if you know how to do this. Am going to try the 10.5.7 update on my retail Chameleon RC1 /Extra thinkpad system in a few minutes and will post results. Downloaded the Combo install and it worked fine for me. TheAppleFreak
Anyone did it on AMD mashines? I'm sure someone has, but no one has reported on it yet. As others have recommended, back up and try it yourself. Though to make sure you can boot in the event that your machine crashes, use something like CCC or SuperDuper. rsync also works too, but unless you're somewhat sufficient at punching in random codes and flags, the GUI method will work the best. Remember, it has to be bootable. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/166083-1057-has-been-released/page/2/#findComment-1155328 Share on other sites

inimicus
Anyone update with non-vanilla system? Didn't seem to work for me... Voodoo 1.0 reboots immediately. Beta2c gets through boot process but fails to bring me to the login window/desktop. Using AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext, Voodoo Kernel, 9.5 System.kext, 10.5.5 seatbelt.kext... not sure if I am missing anything. Could just be that these kexts are incompatible with 10.5.7? inimicus
do you restart the system 2 times? If you're asking if the system reboot itself after the initial install, yes. With the Beta2c kernel. Upon booting with Beta2c after the first automatic reboot, everything went normally until it came time for the blue screen/login window/desktop. Just blackness. I may look into a potential graphics card issue preventing me from seeing the desktop... seeing as we've got new NVIDIA kexts on deck. Agathorn
ASUS P5W DH Deluxe, ATI X1950XTX Extremely vanilla install, with Chameleon 2 RC1 on a jumpdrive for booting. Made sure my CCC clone was up to date, then jumped in head first. Plain old Software Update, reboot, 10.5.7 up and running. I haven't done EXHAUSTIVE tests but everything seems to be working fine. On first boot after update the computer rebooted before loading, but I think this is a normal operation as it does it on the first boot every update. 2nd boot, perfect. OSX86 has come such a long way from the 10.4 days. Thanks to EVERYONE pushing the project forward. This was the smoothest update EVER! macusers
Everything went smooth for me, I do some reading from updater report that they have issue with SPPlatformReport.spreporter after updating, so i back up the file and sure enough, after updating to 10.5.7 all my hardware infos are gone. Put the this SPPlatformReport.spreporter back in the System Profiles, the information then return. Good Luck everyone.
