Thanks cloudy. This tip works fine on my config.

I've got a notebook HP dv1740 with Intel Pro/100 VE.

But my WLAN (Broacom 802.11b/g WLAN) and my sound card are not working (Conexant HD).

Please let me know if someone have a tip about these hardware.

This is supposedly what is in the info.plist:

<key>IOPCIMatch</key>

<string>0x10518086 0x10508086 0x10298086 0x10308086&0xfff0ffff 0x12098086 0x12278086 0x12288086 0x12298086 0x24498086 0x24598086 0x245d8086 0x10918086 0x10608086&0xfff0ffff</string>

If your vendor/device id string is: 0x10928086, then the result would look like this:

<key>IOPCIMatch</key>

<string>
0x10928086
0x10518086 0x10508086 0x10298086 0x10308086&0xfff0ffff 0x12098086 0x12278086 0x12288086 0x12298086 0x24498086 0x24598086 0x245d8086 0x10918086 0x10608086&0xfff0ffff</string>

Rammjet, did you get your Intel Pro/100 Lan working with those device and vendor ids? If so, can you tell me which OS version you are using and can you send me that kext? I also have the same vendor and device id.

It's odd, I had mine working in version 10.4.3 but I updated to 10.4.8 and now it dosn't see it at all.

I tried doing whats list and keep getting this message..

when I do the following I get this error...

sudo kextload -v /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel8255x.kext

not a bundle file

can't add kernel (run kextload on this kext with -t for diagnostic output)

What does [manually load kext] mean?

I tried to copy and paste it like the 1st to lines.

Ca veut dire que tu dois taper:

sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.*

Id did everything mentionned above.

i'm running 10.4.6 and my ethernet adaptor is red (cable not connected) instead of green.

As this cable runs pretty well under Linux on same board,

My Dev is 27DC an Ven is 8086 so I wrote

<string>0x27DC8086 0x10508086 0x10298086 0x10308086&0xfff0ffff 0x12098086 0x12278086 0x12288086 0x12298086 0x24498086 0x24598086 0x245d8086 0x10918086 0x10608086&0xfff0ffff</string>

I also trried

<string>0x27DC8086 0x10508086 0x10298086 0x10308086&0xffffffff 0x12098086 0x12278086 0x12288086 0x12298086 0x24498086 0x24598086 0x245d8086 0x10918086 0x10608086&0xfff0ffff</string>

but it always says "cable not connected"

I cleared kext cache and did

Open DiskUtility, and performed permission repair.

Have you any idea ?

Firewire connection is working so I can share folders, but I cannot browse the internet.

Hi, i hope someone can help me, i have a laptop vaio PCG-V505MFP i installed MAC OS X 10.4.5, everything works fine, but the network card have some problems, the system detects my card but when i plugged in the cable the network preferences show me some bugs like "The cable for Built-in Ethernet is not plugged in". Then few seconds later this messega display "The cable for built in-Ethernet is connected, but your computer does not have an IP adress and cannot connect to the internet", then other few seconds, appears this "Built-in Ethernet is currently active. Built-in Ethernet has a self-assigned IP adress and may not be able to connect to the internet". then other message "Built-in Ethernet is currently active an has the IP adress (my IP adress number). You are connected to the internet via Built-in Ethernet." And all these messages appears many times like my wired will disconnected or something like that but don't, and i try every method i found modiied the AppleIntel8255x.kext, the tulip.kext, i do everything but those messages still apearing.

I hope someone could help me.

Pentium 4 mobile 2.2Ghz 400MhzFSB

512MB RAM

ATI Mobility Radeon 16MB

40 G.B. Hard Disk

Network card: Intel PRO/100 VE

Wireless: LAN Express as miniPCI 802./b/g

i am having a similar issue w\ my VAIO V505-GC2 whihc is almost identical in specs. Ethernet status goes from green to yEllow to red and back to green, to, yellow , to red every few seconds. i have only been able to get as far as my router's config page in my web browsers and this takes literally 2 and a half minutes or more to get to the username and password prompt. forget about actually serfing the web -- it is impossible.

PINGS to my router usually have beween 30 and 60% loss, although obviosuly this means that some packets are succcessfully making the round trip. weird!

i know you posted this a few months back, but i'm wondering if u made any prrogress w\ this issue. i'm afraid to say i havn't and its very frustrating.

thanks in advance for taking the time to reply.

CMM.

PS - i also don't have usb2 support (and dont think i have firewire support either tho i have never tried this as i have no firewire peripherals. i think my lack of usb2 support and the weird duplexing isues i am gaving w\ he Intel pro 100 ve NIC are somehow related. to be clear usb1.0 (and i think 1.1) work just fine.

would love to hear how things are going for ya.

I am trying to do this for the Intel PRO/1000GT

devid is 107c

vendor = 8086.

82541 chipset

So I added 0x107c80856 to the AppleIntel8254XEthernet.kext, Info.plist file,

no such luck still.

Did all repair permissions steps as above and many reboots.

Has anyone here gotten this to work?

Hi Everyone

here is the AppleIntel8255x.kext you will need. I have it zipped along with installation instructions.

The AppleIntel8255x.kext now allows me to use my Intel Pro/100 VE NIC which is running the

82557 Chipset.

If it doesn't work for you usual disclaimers apply! Don't Blame me for trying!

I do hope it helps.

This worked perfect for my Intel D915GAG motherboard. Thanks!

I'm a newbie but I had the same experience. Upgraded from 10.4.6 to 4.8 with jas updates and Intel® PRO/100 VE worked fine. I wanted to update the kernel, so booted off of a full jas 10.4.8 DVD, everything went well, except I lost the LAN. If anyone comes up with a fix, please post.

Jim

PS I am glad this sight is available for playas like myself who are learning!

update: i d/l'ed the ionetworkingfamily.kext.zip file and used the directions inside the archive and go it to work! Now for Conexant audio....

I'm having a problem i hope someone could shed light on, i have JAS 10.4.9

i can copy the file to /System/Library/Extensions

and then I can do both these steps sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel8255x.kext [authenticated again]

sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel8255x.kext

But here where the problem comes in when I do this command

sudo kextload -v /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel8255x.kext [manually load kext]

I am getting this error

"Can't add kernel extention /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel8255x.kext ( not a bundle) (run kextloadon this kext with -t for diagonstic output)"

tried recopying the AppleIntel8255x.kext over a few times and still same error.
