beratgashi
airecken, i am not sure how it will work with snow leopard, i myself installed snow leopard, and then i had to get back to leopard 10.5.x because i also had a problem with 10.6, it was very slow. maybe i have to find better copy of snow dvd retail. try if you can enable QE with osx86tools, it is a great tool. ea dd
i have a problem. sometimes, after login window, i see blue screen. sometimes it is ok. this issue became my headache since when i changed screen resolution. my card is asus en9500gt oc/di. and dev ids are [10de:0640]. i followed this instruction(on first page). 1. Prepared windows xp usb edition stick. copied nibitor to usb. 2. boot from windows xp usb edition from usb stick. 3. run nibitor, saved video rom file. 4. extracted NVCAP using nvcap maker from video rom file. 5. created efi string using osx86tools with the NVCAP and applied to boot.plist worked at first try. but then i changed screen reslotion to bigger, but screen became blue. then i removed efi string and booted again, then removed /Library/Preferences/com.apple.window.server.plist.(i dont remember actual file name.) put efi string back. then booted again. and it was ok. since then screen sometimes becomes blue right after login window. how i solve that? are here anybody experienced with this problem like me? Zac Jardine
Hi, The way I enabled qe in Mac OS X, is to upgrade to Snow Leopard. It didn't work in Mac OS X Leopard, but now it does. I used your guide to enable it. Thanks, Zac.
kamikaze
Fantastic! Simply perfect, followed everything on the guide on first post and everything was fine with mine VGA. Mine is a ZOTAC GeForce 9500GT 512Mb. So do you think that this is applicable to all graphics cards existing and future or not? It could be nice.. Thanks a lot! Hey I am purchasing the same card, would you mind sharing your EFI string ?

marionez
Try reinstalling vanilla 10.5.8 kexts. You can do that extracting them from 10.5.8 combo update with pacifist and installing with kexthelper. You would even try to "reset" removing the string from com.apple.boot.plist and rebooting in -x, and then start again. lösd,föskfölsdkf
I am trying for days (I am not exagerating, honestly) now to get my EVGA 9500GT - 1GB - Dual DVI working, but no luck. I am running Snow Leopard. The only thing I achieved this far is getting my card recognized, but it only shows up with 32MB(!), not 1GB. Also, QE/CI could not be enabled via OSx86 Tools. I first tried as the guide stated, got the ROM off my card, got the NVCAP string etc. but it never changed anything. I also tried various ktext´s attached in this thread, but not one did help. Now I am facing some problem with wrong driver (or whatever), and only have a black screen instead (actualy, no signal at all) of a login screen... So before I try to restore everything, could someone please tell me how to get the card working properly on 10.6? Thanks a ton, rafleo

marionez
Rafleo don't ever install any kind of kext on SL, just use EFI and vanilla SL kexts according to your version, 10.6.1 for example. I also have a similar graphics board, with 512mb, but where do i get the EFI from? I don't want to install kexts to make it work. Also, do i need to manually put it in boot.plist or is there a utility? Can EFI Strings do it for me, and if so, where can I download? I have SL 10.6 Thanks a lot. But if your hackintosh is running and working so far, download "OSx86 Tools", with which you can edit the boot.plist, add EFI strings etc. Might work for you, for me it didn't so far. If marionez's nvcap is compatible with your card, you could try my com.apple.boot.plist (path: library/preferences/systemconfiguration) as I have nearly the same card as you (see my signature). Just edit it according your resolution. QE/CI working both on 10.5.8 and 10.6.1. Hope this helps. com.apple.boot.plist.zip
lösd,föskfölsdkf
First, thank you for attaching that file. If marionez's nvcap is compatible with your card, you could try my com.apple.boot.plist (path: library/preferences/systemconfiguration) [...] Are you sure about that path? The folder "systemconfiguration" doesn't exist, also I have a com.apple.boot.plist at /Extra (in the root). I tried replacing that file, but it results in no signal at all when it should display the chameleon boot screen. Btw, updated to 10.6.1 by now. myska
I checked it and it's the right path, both on leopard and snow leopard. It's strange that you don't have this folder "systemconfiguration". I installed the retailed sl and updated to 10.6.1 via macupdate. I'm running chameleon 2 rc3. I've also got com.apple.boot.plist in extra folder. Maybe the marionez's nvcap is not compatible with your card.

shaishap
I still can't get my card to work.I am now back at my previous setting: card recognized via the method of the first thread, but only showing up with 32MB. Tried leociotti's approach (post #183), but didn't work for me either. I saw someone on this forum having the exact same card as me: working - so there must be a way to do this. I was able to find answer and all is well. What i did is: 1. used PC-EFI 10.3 instead of Cham RC3 2. Used the EX58 mobo patcher, and added the GraphicsEnabler=Yes option to Boot.plist. This solved all my graphics problems, and my 9500GT-512mb now fully works. (QE/CI as well.) I am on 32bit still, but will move to 64-bit once my Time Machine finishes backing up my currently perfectly working system.. (after lots of hour of trying.. ;-(

That results in a Kernel Panic while the OS is loading (apple logo + spinner). Tried with GraphicsEnabler, without, with custom string, without. Reverted bac to my original boot file, now same old problem...
