Donw35
My experience with the GA950 video is that it is slow, not much you can do about it outside of geting a better graphics card, you can get an Gefore 8600GT 512 for under $75 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/127841-ideneb-v13-1055-released/page/17/#findComment-948085 Share on other sites
caseyh
You need to set your OSX partition as bootable. Try burning a gparted cd (http://gparted.sourceforge.net/) and using it to set the boot flag. did as you said here, when gparted gets to the graphical part, it doesnt display properly and is useless, i have tried to get it to run other modes with no luck, do i have to hook it via VGA? i am running dvi normally. thanks! ~)PhI~
hi, i have problems with this version. kalyway 10.5.2 works fine for me, but ideneb gives me this problem and cannot boot for the first time after installation on my p5w dh deluxe. mdworker[82] (Error) SyncInfo: Boot-cache avoidance timed out! can anyone lend a hand? Did you look at the bios settings (found on the Asus P5W DH thread here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=68453) Around page 6 I believe. I can boot without problems on my P5W DH. I was getting a reboot loop before I switched one of the parameters in the CPU page in the bios to "Enable", i can't remember atm the exact name. Worth a look to compare bios screens. Pilgrimage
Wow, great release! Everything worked out of the box except for one little problem: When I use my backup disk for Time Machine, I get the following error: "The backup volume could not be mounted." Weird because this disk worked perfect on my Kalyway 10.5.2 install. Anyone encountered a familiar problem? Thanks! Thanks in advance Is the DVD correctly burned? (burning speed less then 4x) Did you do data verification on the burned disk? Got the same problem 2 days ago and solved it by double checking MD5 number / burning at slow speed on a Windows PC. I was using VGA when I used it so you can give that a shot. What kind of gfx card are you using ? If you know someone who has partition magic, that will also do the job. I think they let you download a demo but you'll need an XP installation to use it. You can also google "Hiren's boot cd" which is a compilation of partition tools. bobbylx
Thanks for this release. Worked great with a few exceptions. I had to manually install audio and network drivers. Other than that, perfect. Time machine works flawlessly to my backup disk, all graphics options work and dual display. FYI, if anyone is using a similar system. It's an HP XW4300 workstation. It has Intel P4 3.2GHz CPU, 2 x 250GB Maxtor IDE drives, 1 LiteOn IDE DVD drive, and Nvidia Quadro NVS265 Graphics. Audio is RealTek HD ACL260, I found some help here on insanelymac on how to fix the AppleHDA kext. Ethernet is Broadcom Xtreme Gigabit card, 5751, found the kexts here as well. adois
Ok, great, but I have a problem. I can successfully boot the install DVD. Well, that's pretty much all I can do, because I can't mount any drives in Disk Utility. If I try to format my fat32 partition to HFS+, it doesn't do anything. I can't mount any of my partitions. It recognizes all my partitions correctly, though. I have Abit Socket 939 motherboard (I don't remember the exact model) with Athlon 64 3500+ and nForce chipset. Applied the nForce patch and verified the burn and md5 hash. Halp? EDIT: Forgot to mention that I have 2 hard drives, IDE and SATA. Can't mount from either EDIT2: Ugh, do not try to edit posts without JavaScript.
