+1 from me for this development and probably +100 more from all the people at espressoreport.com why need this just as badly. Please, please help. Also, slice, you can post there that you are looking for someone to help you develop the driver because some people there might be interested. Try posting it under the Inspiron 1525 tutorial and the 10.5.6 update as they get the most views.

I don't get why espressoreport.com doesn't just say to use the iPC 10.5.6 dvd release instead of starting off using kalyway 10.5.2. It worked for me. But I too do want this driver working.

That does not work with the 8808040 ethernet chipset. That's why it isn't working.

I just told you, there is NO driver for 88E8040. Until someone makes one, your ethernet port will not work.

The someone is me.

I attached the driver with my patches. Not working yet. Continue research.

Because when the blog was created, the latest version was 10.5.4, hence no ipc 10.5.6. Besides, it is much more stable if you upgrade then starting off with an already unstable install

Well I found iPC 10.5.6 to work for me and to be much more stable ^_^

@jymboche: YOu can follow the development of the driver in this topic:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...135637&st=0

There are at least downloadable kernel extensions, which don't work (yet).

It's more probable that Slice will post the final working solution/kext there.

Adam

btw: +1 Slice, i'm waiting for this driver ,too!

Well I think it maybe supported in Snow Leopard here's the the part of the plist:

<key>Yukon-88E804Z</key>
	<dict>
		<key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
		<string>com.apple.iokit.AppleYukon2</string>
		<key>EnableLowPwr</key>
		<integer>1</integer>
		<key>IOClass</key>
		<string>yukon2osx</string>
		<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>
		<string>0x435411ab</string>
		<key>IOProviderClass</key>
		<string>IOPCIDevice</string>
		<key>MACNumber</key>
		<integer>1</integer>
		<key>Model</key>
		<string>Yukon Gigabit Adapter 88E804Z Singleport Copper SA</string>

That's from AppleYukon2.kext from Snow Leopard 10A261.

As a3Dman says it is supported in Snow Leopard, althought I haven't got to a desktop that doesn't crash to test it but AppleYukon2 displays an active en0 link when I boot with activity on the port.

Currently it isn't reading my MAC address correctly though as it goes to 00:11:22:33:44:55.

I have also tried the kexts under Leopard but they won't load, I don't think any Snow Leopard kexts will. Wait until Snow Leopard Grand Master for support. I'll report back if I find any more information after discovering this.
