  1. Ah, it was my own fault then. When doing the patch I noticed 3a18 in my DSDT and thought it was a mistake so I changed it to 3a16. I need to start commenting my dsdt's better. Thanks for the informative post about LPC!
  2. Not sure what im supposed to be looking for. Does this answer your question? (attached image is ioregistry explorer searching for lpc and terminal below with kextstat | grep -i lpc
  3. Hmm... I did this patch and got back to lower temps in DP2, but after upgrading to DP3 I am back to higher temperatures. Any thoughts why this happened?
  4. Hello, I have a problem with my sound after waking from sleep. While the outputs show up, the sound doesn't actually come out. In addition, pressing the volume up/down keys is laggy. My chipset is the realtek alc889 and my mobo is: EVGA 121-BL-E756-TR I have a custom patched DSDT in which I have changed my AZAL Device to HDEF and have installed a patched AppleHDA.kext (no HDA Enabler, just AppleHDA.kext). Anyway, looking in my console I have a lot of Sound Assertion Errors. Does anyone have any solutions?
  5. Hello, Im being nit-picky but I'd like to resolve these issues. Using A dsdt patch and patched Applehda works well, however I get all sorts of sound assertions after waking from sleep and sound quits working in general. When using voodoohda, everything that I use works. However, the volume level is low and adjusting any of the gains results in noise and pops and still isn't as loud as using the native applehda kext. What might be causing the sound assertions after waking from sleep? What might need to be changed in my dsdt or applehda? ~ or ~ How could I patch voodoohda to get the volume to match the original Applehda? Im currently running Lion 10.7.1 and voodoohda 2.7.2 with a 2.7.3 upgraded kext I got from kexts.com. When I mess with the original appleHDA kext I use the one patched from here: http://tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&a...27b49dd04a5c3d3 Thanks!

    Lion Tweaks

Hmm... honestly I cant remember exactly what i did. I have a flash drive that I installed xpc on that Ive used for the developer previews. I followed this guide mostly: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=256729 The only extra things I did were copy a kext folder to the root of the flash drive with fakesmc inside and replace the osinstall.mpkg as he instructs in that post However, my computer freezes when when I have the 8gb flash drive with the install image on. So, I boot from my smaller 2gb drive which only has xpc on it. Then after it has loaded I plug in the 8gb drive and press "F" to rescan the drives. Then I boot the 8gb flash drive to single user mode and run these commands: /sbin/mount -uw / chown -R root:wheel /kexts/FakeSMC.kext kextload /kexts/FakeSMC.kext exit that boots up the install wizard with the fakesmc kext. As far as installing XPC on the smaller drive, I can't remember the steps I followed. Try googling "install XPC lion."

    Lion Tweaks

Just installed Lion GM or 11A511 and unfortunately some issues I was hoping they would resolve weren't. Was wondering if anyone knew specific workarounds to these issues: 1. Can I have the "reopen windows when loggin back in" unchecked by default?? This might be a nice feature, but I know I would use it less than 1% of the time. 2. Is there any way to have the "devices" on the finder sidebar above the "favorites" section? Edit: Another one, I actually just found the answer to: when in finder, using icon mode, the option to resize the icons isnt present. You have to go to "View->Show Status Bar." I like a lot of the new features, but it would be nice if they weren't forced onto the user.
  8. Hmm... now that I look, its only 1024mb and 1 processor core. I guess that got carried over from my other vm. I forgot to mention I also run ubuntu server (no gui) for running apache/mysql/php, cause I didnt want all that running 24/7 on snow leopard. Should I bump up the W7 memory allocation or # of cores? If so, how much?
  9. Alright.... I built my pc over a year ago and have been perfectly content until I started my new job and started to get some lagging in photoshop and running my windows-7 VM using vmware fusion. I really dont know which would benefit me most, and need some experts to way in. The "Problems": Working on large documents in photoshop and moving them around shows noticeable jerkiness. Moving an object by holding down the arrows can become unresponsive (as in it keeps moving even after releasing the key). Windows-7, under vmware, takes a while before becoming responsive enough to pull up internet explorer etc... I load it using the bootcamp option, as it is installed on a secondary harddrive. I really only use the vm to check my css and fonts in IE and other browsers. I might like to start transcoding videos using handbrake. Not sure how handbrake uses opencl or if any speed increase would be seen from upgrading video cards. Current Setup OS: Snow leopard MB: EVGA 121-***** (cant remember) x58 lga 1366 CPU: i7 920 default clock speed ram: 6gb (3x3gb) ddr3 1600mhz cas-8 VC: 8600gt 512mb ram HD1: 1tb 7200rpm 32mb cache with Snow Leo HD2: 320gb 7200rpm (dont know cache) with Win. 7 software: Ive hacked my dsdt and have sleep working, speed-step, etc.. working. The only kexts I use are voodoohda, fakesmc, and iohciblockstorageinjector. Question Where would I see the most beneft for upgrading my pc? HD, VC, or Ram? I might consider doing two upgrades, my budget is between ~$130 - $300. Keep in mind, I dont game, just mainly web development and design with the cs5 suite, with occasional video editing. Any advice would be appreciated.

How to install Snow Leopard on MSI X58

you likely don't need a guide just for your motherboard specifically. Theres not a guide for my motherboard specifically, but i followed the advice for various x58 systems and got it working... you have to realize that even though all motherboards are different, a lot of them use similar chipsets. your x58 has a good chance of being compatible since there aren't a lot of options out yet

How to install Snow Leopard on MSI X58

you could start by saying specifically what you need help with. I would follow one of the guides for an x58 system... I followed/looked at these two to get mine working: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=172548 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1234103 try to read up alot before you start and understand everything. There is a script for x58 systems here: http://www.snowx86.com/downloads/ its the one at the bottom that says x58*somethin somethin patch .nl.zip*
  12. for any of you with the evga boards wondering about snow leopard, I just got it running last night. It seems pretty stable so far (in -x32 mode). I'm still working on the audio. Gonna try to use the 10.5.7 applehda kext and see what happens

snow leopard question - please help

Haha, thanks dude....ran the kext utility like 10 times and i haven't had a KP yet (I'm even back in regular boot.) I couldn't use my keyboard the first time in safe boot to even login, but it magically worked this morning. For those of you reading this, if you're getting a Kernel Panic after booting into Snow Leo use Kext utility to repair permissions. For me, I had to rename my /Extra/Stored_Kexts to /Extra/Extensions for kext utility to work properly. (Stored_Kexts is the default for some bootloader/efi install scripts) thanks!
