OK!

I went ahead and took my 2600PRO out since there are no drivers in the world that work for me. SO, I popped in my old 7300GS 256MB PCI-E, ran the driver installer thing, removed my ethernet/audio drivers from the list because I already had them installed and working, and clicked on the DOWNLOAD button. It gave me some kind of mkdir error when I tried to save the Natit.kext file to my desktop. So I tried clicking on Download & Install and it gave me a "No result was from some part of this expression. (-2763)".

So I went ahead and typed the address of the ZIP file in Firefox, downloaded the ZIP, then installed the Natit.kext file from within with kext helper, rebooted, and BAM! QE/CI/GL!!! FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!

Pcwiz, are you going to be the maintainer of the database? This is an awesome tool, but I can't help but think about the maintenance of the database in the future. I would hate for it to become obsolete. How are you going to make sure that doesn't happen?

OK ~pcwiz, here's mine:

I'd be willing to beta test if you still need testers. When released, this will definitely be front page'd :(

Pcwiz, I think the obvious question is how can this new tool you have developed be combined with the efforts from the BOOT-132 retail dvd installer project to make the ultimate trouble free OSX86 install process? I think it is obvious, but what are your thoughts? By the way, will there be a submission and vetting process for new drivers?

A couple important points I want to make: Please submit your hardware in the Xlabs thread, this thread is just a news thread for general questions, etc. Also, I have been given an extremely bad impression of the people here because guess what? I get like 20 PMs every day asking to test the app, I send them the beta, and only like 3 out of the 20 give me any feedback!!! All people care about is themselves and making things easier for them when I'm working hard to make this a good product...That said, thanks a ton to those who submitted their info and gave me testing feedback and actually care about making this better rather than making things easier for themselves by lying about testing and then using it for their own lazy purposes :)

vkd,

Need patching info

erei33,

Will add and I will send you a testing link :)

danielmramos,

It would be pretty easy to integrate this into a BOOT 132, I could easily make a method where it could make a DFE CD ISO with your necessary kexts, however, modifying the Info.plist of each kext can be tricky, and the fact that you have to up the version numbers of the kexts if you want them to load instead of the vanilla kexts. It should be too hard, but I'll be concentrating more on what I'm currently doing until the final release, when I'll have more free time. There is a built in submitter built into the newer builds of the app :D

iHack13,

Need patching info ;)

deatharchanist2,

Will send you a testing link.

Good question :) I guess if both drivers work then I can just choose one and it wouldn't matter right?

sorry to bring this up again,

could maybe you have a flag next to dev. ID's that have multiple options and then says recommended to your preference, but allows people to choose the other(s)?

also, is this/will be able to work with EFI strings?

Hmm, that would require a rewrite of the system. It would be hard to implement, I can definitely look into it but no guarantees that I can do it. The driver installer module itself does not do EFI strings, but there is a very detailed EFI string maker built into OSx86Tools's Boot Editor, so you should be OK :(

A couple important points I want to make: Please submit your hardware in the Xlabs thread, this thread is just a news thread for general questions, etc.

Oops! Sorry about that, mine's in this thread; do I need to post again to the other? -_-

Also, I have been given an extremely bad impression of the people here because guess what? I get like 20 PMs every day asking to test the app, I send them the beta, and only like 3 out of the 20 give me any feedback!!! Well I'm just happy to be able to help you by submitting my h/w details, albeit in the wrong thread...

vkd,

Need patching info

OK sir, well I installed 10.5.2 Kalyway which did most things for me automatically, as did his 10.5.1 earlier. I had to put the pinxue ViaRhine.kext to make this Ethernet controller work:

00:12.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6102 [Rhine-II] [1106:3065] (rev 78)

The video card:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation GeForce 6200 A-LE [10de:0222] (rev a1)

is now running under NVKush although Natit worked well enough too. I swapped it after the 10.5.3 + kernel update when there was some talk about video problems on non-vanilla systems.

Kaly put an AppleVIAATA.kext on his disk which accesses my HDs (maybe whole chipset?). He also put all these in the /System/Library/Extensions folder and highlighted them green (probably means 'hacked'), don't think I'm using all of them though:

AppleAC97Audio.kext

AppleAHCIPort.kext

AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

ApplePS2Controller.kext

AppleVIAATA.kext

dsmos.kext

SiliconImage3132.kext

As for this next one, Kaly seems to have put a different version as it's highlighted red and the original is underneath, now as a regular folder. The working version is 2.1:

IO80211Family.kext

As for my wireless card, viz:

00:0b.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8185 IEEE 802.11a/b/g Wireless LAN Controller [10ec:8185] (rev 20)

still no luck finding a working driver. Realtek have an OS X driver for their RTL-8187 card but no plans to support the 8185 unfortunately. :(

Thanks 1,000,000x for your sterling efforts ~pcwiz. Anything I can do for you just give me a nudge. :D
