Extract just your video kext from distro, put in thrash all video kext in system/library/extensions, do the same with video folder in root, unfold with pacifist just theone you need from your installed dvd version, not updated to 10.5.5, mine is leo 4all4.1 10.5.4, put it on root and load kexts with kext helper.

Well after testing with Fujilives the newer graphics updates in 10.5.6 did not do much for the mobility 3450 These are in Dell Studio laptops..... I am reinstalling to get everything clear and will try a few more things... any luck on your end LastExile.....

Hi, I'm just checking in: 3450, 3650 Mobility progress - has any been made?

I checked the new drivers to see if there was anything in there referencing our cards.  The 10.5.6 drivers contained (via inspecting hex) the same ammount of 3450 references as other "working" cards, so that particular card looks promising, but the drivers contained almost no reference to the 3650 (sadface).

Unless someone has made some large progress that hasn't been listed yet, it looks like we are no better off than we were in October.

fast question to the people out there does anyone have any issues with 10.5.6 opengl & kexts for say 3650 ?

Yep, I do :) Problem is that after upgrade I can't properly boot at normal mode. Only safe mode works. When I boot normally screen is garbage and in the system.log following can be found:

Safe mode works, but no QE.

Isn't the problem that mobility drive aren't realted to the Desktop based drviers

I think that is the case. Sad part also that that there are working linux drivers available for these cards. On a mob 3470HD here and I got it worked out with Opensuse 11. Even had better support in Mandriva. There it was based off a mobile 1600x. Ran smooth as silk. :)

Now I know that linux and bsd are different, but you'd think that they could take these drivers and rework them into new kexts.

Oh well. I can hope.

I know :P I don't care about qe/ci in safe mode :P I want to boot in normal mode and I'm looking for solution.

if u want to boot in normal mode with qe/ci... u will... lol... simple solution (TESTED !!!)... just reinstall the driver with pacifist from root to be sure (easy noob way... utilities-directory utility-edit-enable root user-logout-other-username=root-no password if none)... your set... enjoy...!... give thanks to the legends of os x, we're just users...:censored2:... P.S.: "replace all" what pacifist asks...!

Thx for info. I've managed problem other way. Some permission on the ATIRNDRV had wrong permissions :D I've also checked your way and it works perfectly.

BTW

I didn't aim to offend anyone on this forum :( If anyone have felt offended then please take my apologize. The only excuse is english is not my native language :(

At the end I would like to thx all the people who wrote these ATI drivers and made them public as we "lusers" can have fun with osx :)

yea I have a HD 3650 card as well and reinstalling after 10.5.6 update worked for QE and CI and opengl, but what ive noticed now is that when you go to System Profiler and then to the graphics card section I get a kernel panic.... not really sure why, but the fix seems to be not going to graphics part :)

if u install it with correct permissions i don't see why u get kernel panic... i run it since update without a problem... and the thing with profiler never happened... and check it several times... to see if it happens... nothing... my guess maybe is the smbios... mine is ver. 1.1.1 vanilla... from the 10.5.6 update... (mobo GA-EP45-DS3 - quad 9300 - vanilla kernel - retail install) and for correct detection in profiler i use smbiosresolver... okay... from extra folder... pc_efi v9 chameleon 1.0.12 + DSDT patch... UInstaller... smbiosefi, smbiosenabeler checked both but don't work with ver. 1.1.1... profiler messed up and errors... etc...)... so check this fix and go from here if still happens we think for another solution... this if u can run smbios vanilla...!... ('cause i see your signature but there's a laptop there... so... )... P.S.: try other hardcoded smbios maybe works... repair disk permissions... etc... keep trying... and u'll find the fix!... :censored2:...

Is there any working driver for HD2600 XT or Pro ( have both ) with 10.5.5 ?

The 0x94c1 is id for 2400XT

The 0x94c3 is id for 2400PRO

with the method of Demone i have QE/CI and change resolution with 2400XT (0x94c1) on iDeneb 1.3 (10.5.5):

This method works fine also with HD 2600Pro and HD 2600XT

1) Install latest drivers package from http://nvinstaller.com (9f23 as of now): (before installing 9f23.pkg delete your ATIRadeonX2000.kext and every natit.kext, Atyinject.kext, Nvinject.kext)

2) Open EFIStudio and press "Device Path" icon, write "display" into the first textbox and press "Get Path" button, press "To Clipboard" button, close window

3) Still inside EFIStudio select ATI HD2400 (should be selected as its the first of the list), press "Add Device" the Editor appears

4) In the editor replace /plist/dict/key node value (default value is PciRoot(0x0.......) with the one you have in the clipboard (just select old value and paste it over); if the two strings match, skip this step

5) Still inside the editor replace every "Iago" string occurrence (you could find other kind of framebuffers like "Lamna") with "Megalodon" string and every "IagoParent" string with "MegalodonParent" string

6) Still inside the editor press "write to com.apple.boot.plist" button to insert the EFI string in the system

7) Change ATIRadeonX2000.kext to include HD 2400 XT Prod.ID and Ven.ID (mine was 0x94c11002)

8) Wait for kext cache to rebuild, fix permissions with disk utility

9) Reboot

CI/QE should now be enabled

At point 7) instead of id of 2400 you can add the device id of your video card.

Important: to modified ATIRadeonX2000.kext move it to Desktop, modify and then install it with kexthelper.

Good Luck

It's all good. I gave up waiting for 3450 driver and just went out & bought a 1GB VisionTek 3650 & used Exile's drivers. 100% functional @ 1920x1080 via DVI->HDMI cable. I'm a Plex-BluRay-rip-playing happy elf now. It shouldn't be too hard to get audio going over HDMI since it's just a Realtek chipset, but I'll leave that up to the audio guys.

I bought the ASUS Silent HD 3650 512MB DDR2 and used those drivers which also worked. It was $75 with a $20 rebate. It's a lot more efficient to just buy something which has support than messing around with trying to make something work which isn't supported (yet). I also installed OSX86 10.5.5 on a friend's HP Pavillion desktop which has a Geforce 7500LE in it and managed to get Quartz Extreme, rotation, etc. to work. I've seen lots of low cost Nvidia graphics cards available which are much better supported than ATI chipped graphic cards. If I were to buy another graphics card, it will be an Nvidia one because of the better support from Apple.
