hello folks,

i have a Mac Pro running OS X 10.5.5 and 3 monitors that I am trying to connect. My IT dept had an extra video card so i thought i'd throw it into the 'Pro and see if it worked. The video card is a Sapphire Radeon HD 3450. Of course after a quick google search i discovered that w/out some effort it wouldn't work... but when I came across this forum and saw the post on the first page, i was highly intrigued to see what appeared to be Mac OS X drivers for the HD 3450.... however upon installing the drivers, nada. I opened System Profiler and it appears that OS X is now recognizing that the card is in the computer, but I can't get any video feed. I have a 19" dell LCD connected via DVI. Below is the information from SysProfiler:

ATI unknown card:

Chipset Model: ATI unknown card

Type: Display

Bus: PCIe

Slot: Slot-2

PCIe Lane Width: x1

Vendor: ATI (0x1002)

Device ID: 0x95c5

Revision ID: 0x0000

Any ideas?? Your help is greatly appreciated!

Hi lastExile

I upgraded my system to 10.5.5, and i realized that my 3650 AGP card has no QE and CI

With 10.5.2 was perfect with this driver you've made:

ATI RADEON HD 3650 AGP Version

DeviceID: 9596

Is there any possibility to get a driver update for 10.5.5 ?

Or what should i try or do to make it work?

And thanks again for your hard work.

UPDATE:

I rebooted in Sigle user mode, i removed all the ATI kexts, booted to the system, reinstalleg your original driver, repaired permissions, rebooted again,

and after reboot i got back QE and CI fully working ;)

So , nevermind about my previous question :D

Aaaaatention guys! :-)

I have great news for HD 2400 Pro/XT users (and may be for some others)

Just got PCI-E HD 2400 Pro 256Mb on 10.5.5 (9.5 vanilla kernel) with resolution and QE/CI

hd2400gotcha.jpg

Here is solution in steps:

We need

1. this kexts (from 1st page of this topic)

2. Kext helper (u already have it i think)

3. Plist editor (u have it, or goooogle it :( )

At first install kexts, reboot and get working resolution, but without QE/CI.

2nd. Here the trick: go to the /system/library/extentions and find there ATIRadeonX2000.kext (!!!)

and dont change right that file, copy it on desktop (or somewhere else) and open copy (show package contents), find "Info.plist" and open it with plist editor. Find string with "IOPCIMatch", put there your id dev 0x94c31002 (thats 2400 pro id), save it.

Now, install this kext with Kext helper. Reboot. here is QE/CI

Works for me (HD 2400Pro PCI-E 94c3 iDeneb 10.5.5), thanks.

With Demone method there are now 2 methods for 2400PRO pcie and 2400XT pcie full working in Leopard 10.5.5.

Hi LastExile,

Finally I got my HD3650 AGP working incl. ALL resolutions and QE/GL :D

Here's what I did:

1) Install Kaliway 10.5.2 (don't select any display drivers!)

2) After reboot remove all KEXT files from /System/Library/Extensions starting with "ATIRadeon.."

3) Install HD3650 AGP driver from page 1 (device id 0x9596)

4) With utility "OSx86 Tools" tick all the boxes in System Maintenance except the first two (Repair Perm. + Set ext. Perm). Press button "Run selected tasks".

5) With "OSx86 Tools" tick the 2 boxes in System Maintenance : "Repair Permissions" and "Set Extensions permissions" and "Run selected tasks" again.

6) Now Reboot

7) With "OSx86 Tools" enable Quartz GL.

8) Reboot

That's it. See attached screen.

Thanks LastExile for all your effort. (btw you don't have to answer my PM anymore ;) )

Netkas is really a magician :D

That could mean for ATI users that Snow Leo are our hope ? Even for mobilities cards ?

@LastExile : Did you already explored snow leo to see the differences, why such card as this one is now fully supported?

and don't change right that file, copy it on Desktop and open copy (show package contents), find "Info.plist" and open it with plist editor or textedit. Find string with "IOPCIMatch", put there your id dev 0x94c31002 (thats 2400 pro id), save it.

Thanks Giorgio,

i've followed your instructions and it worked. Just one thing...once i added my device id to the the IOPCIMatch, i saved it, and then the reboots takes over 2minutes ( everytime now ), i get a flaky screen, and after 2minutes i'm on my desktop...any ideas why this happen?

Should i be reinstalling from scrach without selected any video driver?

Any sugestions are welcome!

Thanks again

Regards

Keep your chin up we will find a solution eventually but we are unsure if the problem with the 3450 is the Frame Buffer or the output LVDS

Glad to hear you got your dell running.... If you upgraded your internal LCD you can try the Graphics Mode option at boot but if your max res is 1280x800 you are kinda stuck for now.

is the default LCD option so im with a 1280x800 stuck a 1024*768, so is there a way to go vesa and get the native resolution?

thanks!

I don't believe there is anything you can do if you find a solution please post it up as I am in the same boat, I am working on a driver but have not had very much luck so far...
