yep, you're right... I've restored previous AppleSMBIOS.kext from 10.5.2 and I've got correct information in system profiler but sleep/wake stopped to work (it was fully working in 10.5.2). I've tried also various AppleSMBIOS.kexts from netkas, macnub - no success (sleep won't work). So far I'm running on vanilla AppleSMBIOS.kext from 10.5.3 wit fully working sleep - only issue is incorrect cpu info in sys. profiler. :thumbsdown_anim:

This is related to AppleSMBIOS.kext.  If your 10.5.2 install reported this information correctly, restore this kext from your backup.  Otherwise, you can download a patched version.
hey it similiar in my case, i wouldnt bother it you got more points, but overall score i smaller than in 10.5.2 as i see in your screens. thats strange since my is better even if i have running applications such as, adiumx, safari, mail, azureus, stickies and all vmware network stuff(virtual dhcp and so on)-not the VM itself. as i said, even with all those apps running, the overall score is better then 10.5.2 running xbench only...my rig in my my sig:)
Similar here as well... see info in my specs. Overall xbench score went down after updating to 10.5.3 in my case
check if you dont have cpus=1 specified in your com.apple.boot.plist or some other kernel flags (i would suggest delete all the kernel flags, repair permissions and restart).

Yeah I think selected the cpus=1 Dell Workaround when installing the Kalyway 10.5.2.

braveskunk,

How do I delete all the kernel flags, repair permissions? Sorry Newbie here...

Thanks!

Here is all in one 10.5.3 Update package for Newbies and Everyone...

10.5.3 Combo Update Package==>;)

==========================================

1) 10.5.3 OSX Combo Update and Fix 10.5.3 are necessary and selected

2) Kernels : By default nothing is selected, however update package will install 9.2.0 Sleep Kernel automatically, and if anyone wants something else, check your desired Kernel Selection, including 9.3.0 Vanilla. Vanilla is not default anymore. By default or any kernel choosen, will install correct system.kext as well, so no usb mount issues...

3) Drivers: By default, no audio/video/network selected, but chipset drivers selected, unless you know what you are doing, dont touch chipset selections. Install anything you need.

Special Note to Nvidia VGA Owners: 10.5.3 Nvinject drivers has been added, now you can have QE/CI back on track

4) Patches:

Mac.Pro Named Smbios by Mac.Nub is selected and works quite well, however if you know what you are doing, you can change this setting to any other, but suggest not to touch it.

USB: If you have issue with your High Speed Bus (aka USB 2.0 Controller) you can use this driver. However do not confuse this driver as USB NOT MOUNTING (read frequent problems section above for details of usb not mounting issue) fix. This is totally different. Make sure you understand the difference.

5) Usefull Program: By default none is selected. I recommend all of them.

Candybar: to change/sort your OSX icons.

Colloquy: IRC client

Kernel Installer: Very simple kernel install program for newbies

Kext Helper: Very simple kext (aka driver)l install program for newbies

Perian: Various video/audio codecs for Quicktime. Think of it as multipack codec pack to play majority of the video files, in quicktime without need of any 3rd party apps.

VLC: This is all-in one multi purpose video/audio player. Even if you have perian, this is one of must-haves...

Edit: Addition to gfx and kernel related changes, ICH ids added (except Jmicron ids, sorry) to new driver and hdd icon problem is solved for Intel Chipsets. Credit to Dense and Cyclonefr for pointing these out

Note2: Please make a habit for booting with -v -f after you change drivers and/or major updates installed.

sorry guys, found one trouble which i forgot to remove after i tested the system.. it was not a big issue, but needed perfection ;) the trumpet button will be ready in ~2hrs time and will 100% fix ahci issues and hdd icons. as well as fix permissions and delete caches, so it once rebooted it will work w/o needing fingering or typing anything... sorry for the inconvenience

hey, if u navigate to ~/library/preferencies/systemconfiguration/ there will be a file called com.apple.boot.plist just drag it out to the desktop, open and check if under <kernel flags> you dont have any cpus=1 acpi=x86pc and other stuff. if yes simply delete. save. rename the old file in sysconf for something like com.apple.boot_old.plist. drag the file saved from the desktop to sysconf back.

open spotlight type: disktool select your drive and hit repair permissions

restart and thats all.

thank you very much for your hard work, Mysticus. you're legend..!

I'll download it and report it later.

I think it's better you create a new topic, because your release seem great..!

I already have another topic which actually made this update for, but it will work on intel chipsets just fine, I tested it on my own system and it worked fine...

Here is the new topic..

copy com.apple.boot.plist from systemconfiguration to the destkop, empty the string <string> so you'll get:

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string></string>

save it, then rename the old one in the original directory to something like com.apple.boot_old.plist

copy the new one-modifed(from desktop) to the systemconfiguration folder(where the com.apple.boot_old.plist is) and do repair permissions via diskutility(just start typing

diskutil in spotlight).

if you wont be able to boot after the restart just type cpus=1 in darwin bootloader to get it back.

you can pm if any trouble:)

After following your instructions, now I'm stuck at the Darwin Bootloader. Select Leopard nothing happen at all, how to put back the original com.apple.Boot.plist file? I'm desperate to get back to the Leo Desktop!

Help!!!

Well, i installed the Kalyway combo update with no need to run the kernel update package (kernel panic forced a restart) but the new install is pretty solid.

Installed the latest NVinstaller and got QE back; still having some network dropouts, but these are now recoverable; previously I needed a reboot to bring the network back up. This is much more usable.

Have noticed a glitch that will freeze the whole system if my Logitech MX Revolution goes battery critical... More than a coincidence methinks.

For all you AMD users, that are afraid to update.

My good friend bhast2 has uploaded an update on the bay. He downloaded and modified it with Zeph's ASU

So just search 10.5.3 Update for AMD Working on the bay.

Works perfectly, cuz Im using right now.

All thanks go to bhast2 for upping the package, and Zephyroth for making an AMD Software Updater so that the package could be decrypted and patched!!

Have fun updating kids!!

Great, that was a waste to download the Kalyway one then. We'll it's back to the bay...

Props to you guys who brought it up for us AMD users. Just one question, I got a DVD entitled "Leopard-AMD-10.5.1" and the Kalyway 10.5.2 disc. Which one is smarter to use for this update?

My upgrade also went very smooth ... but now I am noticing, that my Toast Titanium installation is broken.. when I run TT 9, the app starts in the dock, and then closes immediately after, dont get to se the app window at all.

Is there a way to se what is happening?

There are also some weird things happening with iWork.. but everything else seems to work just fine.

same problem as you... Any solution would be appreciated !

I tried the last available update from roxio (9.0.2), but this didn't solve the problem.

Installed Kalyway Combo Update 10.5.3 successfully onto kalyway 10.5.2 clean installation.

Before install, i've made a tar backup of /System/Library/Extensions.

After install, i've overwritten the /System/Library/Extensions with the oldone.

without this, my Gforce8500GT doesn't start properly (no CE, Hardware Control).

Here are the specs:

Mobo: P5LD2-VM

CPU: E4500 Core2

Video: GForce 8500GT/512Mb

SO: Kalyway 10.5.2 + Kalyway 10.5.3 Combo Update

Isn't it off-topic to ask for help with your installation in the "Front Page News and Rumors" forum?

yeah bigpimpin but ASAIK its the first one about 10.5.3 and know, after all that time its not a front page anymore(like snow leo, safari or new iphone). i personally don't mind when somebody ask about the installation process:)

BTW this topic became a KB about installing 10.5.3 some time ago, so maybe just leave it as it is, or make a sticky about installing it?

There are threads that explain how to correct the QE/CI problem with nvidia, without reverting back your system to 10.5.2 massively. Give it a try ;)

Hi braveskunk!

The keyboard I am using is PS2. The same keyboard works before I upgraded to 10.5.3.

Under Kalway 10.5.2 the PS2 keyboard worked without any problem.. USB keyboard is OK but I only borrowed one for testing.. My computer is new (duo core) so I don't want to buy a new keyboard yet)..

I have restored extensions from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3 but still the PS2 keyboard does not work...

Thanks for any help...

hey, u probably chosen wrong kelner, if u have hackintosh with vanilla u have to choose vanilla kernel and if u have anything else(modbin, speedstep, kabyl, sleep kernel)u have to choose the modbin 9.3. if u stuck on grey screen u can try typing

update -v

in darwin bootloader(that part with counting time from 5 to 0) just hit enter, type the command and hit enter again. it should update the files, reboot and startup...maybe:/i assume you haven't done any backup of your kernel and extensions?

by lcc.dmg you mean logitech control center?

you have PS2 or USB? laptop or desktop?

hi,

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=108295

its whole thread about ps2 and 10.5.3

there are 2 files: appleps2controller and appleacpi which you have to restore. other way i buying a ps2->usb adapter. its really cheap-round $1 and you can buy it in almost every computer store. hope this helped a bit:)

Well I bought the retail Leo 10.5.1 and followed the Retail Leo for GA mobos in the stickys and managed to install first Retail Leo and then upgrade to Apple 10.5.3 on my old steam engine Asus P4P800se mobo P4 3Ghz single core cpu. It´s working really good have to use USB mouse and keyboard though but that´s really cheap gear to buy. So for me it´s retail from now on.
