Okay, usually I am not big on the "Microsoft copied Apple" stuff. But this one I really wanted to share. I installed Windows Server 2008 on VMWare just to play around and I installed IIS 7.0 (Microsoft's web server application). I opened up Firefox to make sure IIS is working... and look at what the default page is.... Look familiar?

Oh, wonderful idea. How easy was it to download and install?
It was pretty easy. I downloaded the ISO from bittorrent then installed it in VMWare Fusion. Setup a 20GB virtual partition. It does run pretty slow. Much like running Vista in VMWare but it works. Good for playing.

Ok. I currently have Windows XP Pro in Parallels Desktop and wondered if it would be fun to do this too. I might just download it over HTTP/FTP.

Not to squash the "copypasta" you all seem to think this is, but how did you even conceive the idea that this is even copying OS X? Is it that "Welcome" is written in several languages like the OS X Leopard Intro? If that's the case, if I wrote "Welcome" in several languages on a webpage, would I too be automatically copying OS X?

Get over it, stuff like this is sheer coincidence and probably has nothing to do with copypasta.

Odd state of affairs when using the word "Welcome" is stealing.

Apple stole that idea from the doormat outside my house!!

Kinda odd how MS's "secure by default" ideology means telling everyone what server software you use right on the default page. Hurr.

the apple one makes sense, it is played before you choose what language to use on that computer. but the iis one is just annoying, by the time you launch that app, the computer already knows what language you use

And what automatically makes it that MS copied Apple? I say sheer coincidence.

As I said before, if I built a basic webpage like that, would I be automatically copying Apple or could it just be sheer coincidence?

For all we know, they chose the colors and font because they are easy on the eyes. There are actually more languages in that webpage than in the OS X Leo intro as well, and if I am not mistaken, the font is different.

Either way, who cares?

But Apple has been using that way before Leopard. It's been in every MacOS intro since OS 9.
