domino Posted January 15, 2006 Share Posted January 15, 2006 myzar, don't lead these poor souls into believing that "everything" works fine on non Apple machines. iLife 06 will be crippled in some way or another depending on your OS version, hardware, and many other factors. I have seen a lot of posts stating that "everything works fine", and then they add "except" or 'but". If everything works fine except 1 or 2 things, then everything does not work. In my brief time with iLife, many features are working and many do not. If no one a starts a new thread about this in a few days, I will. I've tried garageband, iphoto, iweb is kinda of worthless needing a .mac account , i've only started idvd but i didn't do much with it because for me mpeg2 is a dead format. I've tried imovie but i've only imported an avi applied an effect and quitted it. I don't have much use for imovie either. I think i'll post my pros and cons in about a week or so. That gives more time to actually work on it. Edit: a quick glance with iMovie is that I can't view the themes options. That's a major turn off when deciding to buy the entire package. I'll post all the other like i said. I'm not morally uptight - i just think stealing is wrong. It's not as if they are ripping you off - i mean 79 bucks. You basically change OSX to report its running as 10.4.4 and the build as 8G1165 (which is the 10.4.4 intel build which ships with the new iMacs). In case of the torrent a single dmg file has been uploaded and it's just not seeded well, so I hear it isn't defective but will take ages to download. I have the spanning files - but how do I "unspan" them? Currently they are: dmg.001 dmg.002 and so on. brain21 Posted April 21, 2006 Share Posted April 21, 2006 You can fix the span problem. Download Machacha: http://homepage.mac.com/julifos/soft/machacha/index.html Install MacHacha. When you run it, it will just sit in your dock. I get no GUI for whatever reason. Then find the .dmg.001 file and drag it onto the Machacha icon in the dock. It joined all of the parts (*.dmg.001 - .dmg.209 ) and created a single, large iLife06.dmg file. Interestingly enough, the file showed up in my finder as a 1MB sized file! When I clicked on it to select it, it then showed it as a 6.12 GB file. I ran and installed it from there (installing it now actually). This is on OSX 10.4.5 on a Dell PC (Maxxuss version of 10.4.5). Still, I think it's odd the DMG won't mount even. I um, found a copy, and my torrent mounts fine. But I'm running 10.4.6 with all updates too. What does your log say about it?
