My Specs:
CPU: Xeon E3 1230v2
Ram: Corsair 8G
Main: GA-B75M-D3H
Graphics: Asus EAH 5450 SILENT/DI/1GD3

Installation steps:

  • Follow the steps here to set up bios. (Notice update 2 at the end of the post, I had many kernel panics and had to boot with safe mode (-x flag) when I’d just purchased this board and started to install Mountain Lion. Setting VT-d to disabled is the solution to it. By the way, remember set first boot to a normal boot. Do not boot with UEFI. UEFI booting works just fine on Mountain Lion but cause a lot of troubles on Mavericks. If you do UEFI booting, the system will not load the HDA kext (for sound) and AMDRadeonX3000 kext (for graphics).
  • Follow the guides here to make a boot usb (I kind of prefer making the usb myself to using apps)
  • Install the OS.
  • After the system is install I boot with the usb. I install Chameleon bootloader here (install Chimery or Clover if you prefer. In my opinion none is better. It’s simply because I’ve used Chameleon from my first time, I really don’t want to change).
  • For sound I tested the kext here and it works just fine
  • For Ethernet, thanks to Maniac10 I install the kext here and it just works fine. I don't see much of a difference in term of speed cause I have a pretty slow internet connection here (4M ADSL) but it works for me.
  • For the Graphics I follow the guide here to fix two kexts (AMD5000Controller.kext and AMDRadeonX3000.kext).
  • Restart the system and everything works like a charm.

These are two graphics kexts that I fixed and am using.

Note: After a long time the system may crash. You can fix this by update bios to f12 version. My mainboard had f14 version but I encounter many crashes all which happen when I am in the middle of work after some experiments. I downgrade to f12 and everything just works perfectly.

Some after words:

  • The machine is running very smoothly. Mavericks is much faster than Mountain Lion.
  • Safari 7 surfs web a lot faster than Firefox or Chrome, and the design is a plus, elegence and effective.
  • I use dual monitors so new features related to multi displays like menu bar and dock following in every screen is great.
  • iBooks and Maps are great. I really enjoy iBooks, looked for a good book management apps for 2 years, ever since I first used a hackintosh. I ended up with Ehon, but apparently iBooks is far a lot better. You can also buy books, which is great.
  • iCloud is working great.

Hi Van Viet Luu Huynh, just so you know we don't support TonyMac so you may want to change some of those steps (just the ones that require his tools, not the forum links).

Toleda has his own thread dedicated to AppleHDA patching here, it's not a 1 click solution but it's really easy to follow and IMHO is better because you know what you're doing and you don't revert to older kexts. As for the Ethernet kext, try Mieze's which some people say it works better for the 8169.

Thanks for sharing your experience and welcome to InsanelyMac!

Ok thanks Maniac10, using the new kexts, and they just work. This board is definitely such a great board to install mac.

Successfully Installed Mavericks on this board with clover boot loader in uefi mode. Installed only three kext faksmc.kext, other two for audio and lan. Everything works except sleep which works when I click on sleep first time but after waking up it no longer sleep again.

Is their anyone having this issue?

This is my config.plist

Hello, I have this same board. I have everything working on Mavericks 10.9.1, but sound. It works, but I get a crackling noise and the volume goes down. I can "fix" it, by going to MIDI Setup and switching the format from 96000 to 48000khz. Weird.

I installed ALC887/888b Kext.

Anyone can point me in the right direction?

@grendel

Maybe try patching your dsdt: - extract native dsdt using linux live cd or rweverything in windows and apply Pjalm's patch for the B75M-D3H using MaciASL located in his repository (google search).  DSDT patching is not required for the B75M-D3H to boot OSX but various sleep, USB and HDMI problems can surface if you omit this step.

Specs of my desktop machine: GA-B75M-D3H, F12 BIOS, Realtek ALC 887 sound, Realtek GbE LAN

                                              BIOS set to boot UEFI only, HD mode to AHCI, internal graphics memory 64MB

                                              HD 2TB HD GPT dual boot OSX Mavericks 10.9.1/Win7_X64 UEFI with Clover v2k_2482

                                              CPU Intel I3 3225

                                              Memory 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz

                                              Video Intel HD 4000

Everything works including HDMI sound, sleep/wake and USB3 using the files below (attached GA_B75M-D3H OSX files.zip) in /System/Library/Extensions:

FakeSMC.kext from Kozlek's branch

Sound--->Toleda's patched AppleHDA.kext v2.5.3 for Realtek ALC 887, HD audio properties injected with DSDT.aml

LAN--->Mieze's RealtekRTL8111.kext v1.1.2

USB3--->Zenith432's GenericUSBXHCI.kext v1.2.7

When booting with UEFI Clover, I install OsxAptioFixDrv-64 in Driver64UEFI and use the following

Clover config.plist:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Note I use the MacMini 6.2 SMBIOS and inject Intel Graphics with Clover.  The kernel flag dart=0 apparently has the same effect as setting VT-d to disabled in BIOS.

If you use Chameleon, you need to set BIOS to boot in legacy mode.  I was sucessful booting my chameleon based Mavericks installer (procedure adapted from the all-in-one Vanilla OS X install guide) with the following in /Extra

  • DSDT.aml (also in attached bundle of files.  You will need to patch your own native DSDT if your hardware is different to mine)--->no need for NullCPUPowerManagement.kext

I have this board too. I installed Mavericks using MyHack. No dsdt needed. I have a Radeon HD 7650, that working OOB, the network works natively or using Myhack kexts too, no dsdt needed. I use Chameleon and all I don't have is sleep, but I can live well with that. For sound, I got an USB audio adapter, so I don't have to touch the AppleHDA.

All GA-B75M-D3H Owners/Users,

Has anybody here had any luck getting USB 3.0 to work properly? I can get my USB 3.0 ports ( 2 X Integrated ont he mother board, and 4 X PCIe Card) recognize in the system report as USB 3.0 Superspeed Bus, but when I connect external drives to them they don't actually read or write at speeds above USB 2.0?

Any body here using this board and OS X 10.9+ able to get their USB 3.0 ports to achieve better than USB 2.0 speeds?

And please how did you do it?

Thanks fusion71au,

Now I have 1600MHZ memory and USB 3.0.

Feel like a real Mac.
