Really?

Here, everything is as enjoyable as it should: i did really extensible tests. Up to now, only Safari and DVD Player (which doesn't even open) are unusable.

Perhaps the CPU matters as much as the GPU: i use a mild Athlon II x2 250 clocked at 3.0Ghz to perform all these tests.

Best regards!

EDIT: i just saw you were referring to spakk's patched next, so disregard my post, Gilles. :)

:)

Thank you, but I will not dwell on the HD 5450, it is noisy and inefficient (14 fps on intel), I would like to conclude with the HD 4850 because bugs are still present videos, I wonder if someone one knows the code name of the graphics card, I know that RV770, would she have another name?
this way I would include in AMDRadeonAccelerator.kext / info.plist, who knows?

thank you

For a while, Kiko, keep on using Lion as your primary system, and stay tuned for a solution for Mountain Lion graphics corruption. Hopefully it will come soon. Or else, if you have spare money and need Mountain Lion now for some reason, go buy a refurbished ATI card that is proven immune to heavy graphics corruption under Mountain Lion's current AMD kernel.

Best regards!

is possible downgrade the system for ML to Lion? I only have  fresh ML install :-s

looking at the problems you are facing here (especially with nvidia), i am thinking this could be a graphics detection issue on amd cpu. Maybe as a test you could dump the ioreg from a working system (ie lion or whatever) and apply as much of that which is physically possible (or advisable) into your dsdt or graphics strings. Maybe the system/kernel is refusing to initialize some cards properly on amd processors? I know they introduced some nvidia detection issues late in 10.6, with some people having to provide display-cfg values where none were previously needed

another example of adding stuff to force detection: for agp cards on snow leopard (not needed in leopard) you need to add a this to your gfx dsdt section

                                "IOPCIExpressLinkStatus",
                                0x1102,

hope this helps and good luck with getting this working. seems like most of the hard work has already been completed! unfortunately i have no amd to test the above theory

another thing you could try is using the AppleACPIPlatform.kext from lion or sl

I return to the HD 5450, despite these videos artifacts, it remains usable and video is surprisingly fluid.
I made a test batery and 2 screencasts with ScreenFlow.

why not

Today, i'll be testing extensively the Adobe CS5 suite with Mountain Lion and my HD5450.

I'll report back here during all the day with my results.

Best regards!

P.S.: You know what are the only situations i got graphics glitches? Only when writing in reply boxes of forums like Insanelymac, Olarila etc. In the moment i click outside the box, all glitches disappear. Isn't it nice? :D

Hahahaha I had to use --disable-accelerated-compositing to fight graphic corruption on YouTube, couple of pages back i wrote how to do it or go to working applications, I made a launcher that does it for you and there is a link to the terminal post on it :)

What is this you ask?

This is Mountain Lion running i386 on AMD with an nVidia card and QE/CI.  There is a huge bug somewhere though which is triggered by clicking on any menu.

UPDATE 8: an unexpected annoyance, ArchiveUtility seems to stop working after the system is some time up, just like good old Lion XPCHelper-related core service crashes. I have StuffitExpander, so i could choose not to bother, but i think this issue should be investigated, since it could be just another manifestation of the same issue that cause, among other things, the nVidia graphics corruption.

Best regards!

EDIT: here's the entire report for the crash:

wtf, that's similar to my bug above. something with 'semaphores'/'mutex' in libsystem_kernel.dylib
and/or  libdispatch.dylib

@connactic:   could you get me the SAME report but with this kernel argument set at boot??
keepsyms=1

Edit: AppleFSCompressionTypeDataless is rearing its ugly head

your log is strange, I can't find a clear reason for the crash in it

EDIT #3.1415:  NVDA(DMA): Channel exception! exception type = 0x1f = Fifo: MMU Error
   00000069

Could you share your test kernel? I am going to re create my Login loop on ML and try it out. May have different results with different CPU / GPU combo.

whooahh!

you managed to compliler i386/x86_64 DP1 kernel for AMD?
I had exactly the same problem with my Mac mini / GMA 950 (kext added manually) with the DP1 ML
I used the launchpad for focused applications.

I can test your kernel please, I have a ML DP1 active on my HDD.

it may be if the sound works via a working AppleHDA.kext that will be work then the graphics card with CI / QE?. I've adjusted my DSDT and the AppleHDA.kext, but the sound does not work yet hundred percent ! The graphics are much better but still no CI / QE. Can my presumption apply???
I have a Nvidia GTX 550 TI with Realtek ALC889 Onboard Sound

I was thinking that I only had problems with audio.
In my case, the audio stutters and the codec it is:
VIA VT1708S

Spakk you ever tried this?

At least you have AppleHDA audio, guys! I have to resort to VoodooHDA, and HDMI is yet a distant hope.

Now, to the news:

I can confirm the latest amd_kernel (which is attached in the first post of the topic) works with no performance loss and no errors with 10.8.3. Contrary to all common sense, i did the App Store update (but i recommend you use the combo update) and the only modifications i had to make was adding my card's ID in the plists of both ATI5000Controller.kext and AMDRadeonAccelerator.kext. I did this to the 10.8.3 stock kexts and all went fine, but i saved my 10.8.2 patched kexts just in case. That's what i recommend to you, fellow ATI users who have a stable system.

Best regards!

are you still seeing graphics glitches? That's the only thing that's keeping me back from using it as a daily driver.  and how do you patch the kexts, cause I just tried and I don't think I did it right.

Thanks!
