Ok, excellent, that did the trick. I must have tried a dozen different ones. The Voodoo audio driver distorted my sound horribly, and I never was able to get my modified DSDT to recompile, so I just got a USB audio adapter.. Kinda lame.. Maybe I'll eventually learn how to compile the DSDT.. Seems like I should be able to open the one I have already, change what was supposed to be changed, save it and hit compile.. Yet it's not working out like that..
Sleep is working.. That's sooo nice.

for DSDT i used this guide: DSDT Guide for GA-EP45-DS3L

the key for me was flashing the bios with the latest version "F6" found here:

and then start fresh using the guide and the bios "F6" file. you cant use a random DSDT. too many variables. different hardware installed in different slots with different bios versions. so you really need to make your own. the guide makes it pretty easy. it just seems a lot more complicated than it really is.

Hi.. I've got everything working except of sound. I followed all guide, installed alc88b kext, changed dsdt, but it still doesn't recognize audio. Do you have any suggestions?

I had the same problem. Ended up giving up and luckily had a USB audio adapter in a drawer that works great with SL right out of the box.

for audio i am using the LegacyHDA_ALC888B.kext with the LegacyHDAPlatformDriver.kext

for dsdt I used all manual fixes from: Using DSDT on the GA-EP45-DS3L

from my understanding you can put the kext in to either the "SL/extensions" or the "extra/ extensions". i use the "extra/extensions" just for the sake of tidiness. but make sure you run the mkexttool.app with the kext in the "extra/extensions" folder and put the resulting "extensions.mkext" file in the "extra" folder, not the extra/extensions".

Just a note.. I have this board working in 64bit mode with 4gb of ram. Got tired of my Abit board not sleeping, so I swapped it out for another one of these boards. All I changed was my dsdt and I was good to go with this board on my previous install. Time to update my sig..

I've got one going pretty good, with one major issue. I get the 8152 error in netflix, I believe because of the onboard network card not being recognized as built-in. I have EthernetBuiltIn set to yes, and I have the R1000SL.kext. I tried PC_EFI 10.5, and Chameleon RC4. It is set as en0, but not built-in.

I am in a reallygood mood right now I just got my hackintosh running on snowleopard with the g41m. I have all of you guys out in hackland to thank for all the hard work you do to allow noobs like me to be able to do this. This forum is great I didn't have to post one question everything I needed to know was already out there waiting for me to find it:) I have learned alot about macs and building computers in the last two months now I'm gonna start working on my dsdt which looks alittle intemidating. Anyway sorry to waste space just thought I'd say thanks.

If this helps anyone, I got sound working on snow leopard 10.6.0 on g41m installing the appleazaliaaudio package and then doing this

nano AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/Info.plist

I added the 0x010ec0887 to the begining of the string, it only gives you outputs but that's better than nothing until you find the complete fix. I could get the legacy kext to work for me:(

followed this guide to install Leo on G41M-ES2L http://www.an43.com/osx/install2.htm (clearer than any other guides ive seen) Leo works like a charm. most of the guides written about g41m-es2l direct you to some other guides for some other motherboards and say just follow that guide to get it going but that guide is for other motherboard with different chipsets/kexts and settings .. that dont help us noobs one bit.. all guides should be written like http://www.an43.com/osx/install2.htm / just my 2 noobish cents

I was going through everything to make sure all the applications and such work. I I noticed that I can only choose 2 of the screensavers they other ones say they are not compatible or something like that also when I try to take screenshots I can hear the noise in the speakers like it's taking a screenshot but it dosent save it nowhere. I was just wondering if anyone has a fix for these. I could not find a thread on either problem.

I have a G41M-ESL2 I've been trying for awhile to get it to boot into SL. I tried the   G31M-ESL2 process of restoring my SL Retail Disk to my 8GB USB stick and ran the routines, edited the plist file, etc. I put the thumbstick in my gigabyte machine but the BIOS only has a USB HD option. Since the thumbstick is sort of one of those, I tried it. It did not boot from it. I then burned the 8gig thumbstick to an 8G DVD, thinking that might be a good way to get it to boot: no luck (does not boot computer). I compared the two (disk and thumbdrive) and they look the same to me in my Wind PC Hackintosh... any suggestoins?

This being my first Gigabyte board, I ran into that same problem. Either press F12 to pull up the boot menu while it's POSTing, or go into the bios with the USB thumb drive plugged in, and go to the hard drive boot order, make sure the USB stick is first on that list, it doesn't come up as a USB HD, it comes up as a Hard Drive.. Very strange compared to other machines I've dealt with, but once you know that, it's easy to work with. I find the F12 option works best unless you intend to leave the EFI on the thumb drive (a la psystar) permanently.

Sounds like a video card issue. What video card are you using, and have you followed instructions for getting that card to work? The built on card doesn't work well, you'll need an extra card.

Thanks for the response to you and all that have suggested I use F12 or the Boot Option in the BIOS. However: it does not come up as "USB Thumbdrive" or any other such. All there is is USB HD, FD, and CD ROM, nothing like the stick... frustrating.
