Attention:

1- This DVD is designed for Intel architectures.

Minimum requirements: Intel SSE3 CPU, 512MB RAM, 12GB free space on target partition.

2- This DVD includes Apple's OS X Leopard 10.5.2 (9C7010) installation.

3- Make sure that the md5 checksum of your iATKOS iso image matches the one posted on our website. Otherwise you may have a faulty DVD image. Use quality media/burner and burn slowly.

Information:

- This release supports GPT (Guid Partition Table) partition map scheme. You can change your partition table type to GPT via Disk Utility or some other partition managers. We advice Parted Magic Live CD which is based on GParted.

- This release also includes Darwin EFI emulation boot for MBR (Master Boot Record) harddrives. Intel Core CPUs can use stock kernel and stock ACPIPlatform with EFI emulation on MBR and with GPT. This increases stability and performance.

- Intel CoreDuo Processors have appropriate SpeedStep Technology which is stable in OS X. If you have such processor, you can enable throttling feature using the "SpeedStep" package which you can find under system drivers section. Note that speedstep kernel is included in iATKOS main system, so don't select any of the kernels with speedstep support if you don't want to have kernel panic.

- There are some boot options for some various hardware. Boot DVD, press F8 and enter:

nforce -v

for nForce motherboards with intel SSE3 CPU

nforce_core -v

for nForce motherboards with Intel Core CPU

toh -v

for booting with ToH 9.2.0 kernel which works nice on many types of hardware

Installation:

1- Run Disk Utility via Utilities menu and erase the target partition for clean install. Do partitioning if you need to.

a- You can choose MBR (Master Boot Record) or GPT (Guid Partition Table) via partitioning options. If you want to change your existing partition table type, know that all your existing data on disk will be gone.

b- For Windows fellows that has not tested this amazing system yet and that does not want to loose their windows software, porn and virus&trojan archive on D:\, should use Parted Magic Live CD for preparing an active primary target partition and after that, just erase it via diskutil. Jump to Step 2.

2- Select the destination for installation.

3- Click customize and select what you need.

4- Click Install.

Install time is about 20 minutes.

Multiboot:

iATKOS 2.0i has no integrated procedure for multibooting but preparing a multiboot GPT or MBR system with this release is easier than ever.

Here is a ''How To'' for GPT and MBR triple boot including Mac-Vista-Linux.

- MBR (Master Boot Record) triple boot -

- Change your partition table type to MBR (msdos type) and create 3 primary partitions by using Parted Magic Live CD or iATKOS Disk Utility. HFS+ format for OS X target, Fat32 for the others.

Note: %99.99999 of the PC harddrives already have MBR partition map scheme (msdos type) which you can change it to GPT via Parted Magic CD or iATKOS Disk Utility if you like to.

- Add boot flag to Vista or Linux target and install the OS' in any order you like. For linux, do not install bootloader to MBR, install it to linux root.

- Boot iATKOS 2.0i DVD and install OS X to its target as usual.

- Now you need to repair Vista. Add boot flag to Vista partition, boot Vista DVD, select repair, add boot flag to OS X partition, thats all.

Now you have triple boot on MBR.

Note: Adding boot flag to MBR partitions: Boot Parted Magic Live CD, right click to partition, select flags and click to boot.

- GPT (Guid Partition Table) triple boot -

- Change your partition table type to GPT (Guid Partition Table) and create 3 partitions by using Parted Magic Live CD or iATKOS Disk Utility. HFS+ format for OS X target, Fat32 (msdos) for the others.

- Boot iATKOS 2.0i DVD, install only bootloader to OS X target. ***

- Boot Vista or Linux media and install the OS' in any order you like. For linux, install the bootloader to linux root.

- Boot iATKOS 2.0i DVD and install OS X as usual.

Now you have triple boot on GPT, thats all.

As you see, preparing multiboot system on GPT is more practical and easier.

Darwin on GPT will see other OS' as Foreign Boot.

*** For pro-users: You can re-install Darwin bootloader by booting the iATKOS DVD with -s. Boot with -s and enter darwin command, follow the instructions. For MBR HD, you can add boot flag via fdisk after darwin installation.

Known Issues:

1- Jmicron IDE controllers are known to have issues with OS X.

2- Some 965 chipset MSI and ASUS motherboards (desktop and laptop) have issues with this OS. ACPI errors while booting with DVD and also with hd. There will be patches for those uncompatible devices and there is also a patch for 1.0ir2.

3- This dvd may not include all the necessary drivers required by your setup. Additional steps may be needed to be taken by the user to setup and use such components.

4- Be sure that the labels of your hfs+ partitions are not similar. ie. Mac 1, MacOS or Leopard X, Leopard Y. Installer may fail to determine the target partition to install the system if the labels match.

Unsuccessful Installation and Related Symptoms:

1- I get the error "com.apple.Boot.plist is not found" while booting the DVD

--> You are probably trying to boot from an unsupported controller.

~ You should use usb dvd rom drive, or you may need sata-ide convertor for your dvd rom drive (jmicron).

2- System freezes at grey screen by booting the DVD.

--> You probably have an unsupported chipset.

*965 chipset ASUS or MSI motherboard/laptop

*many VIA, SIS, ATI chipset motherboards

~ Change your hardware :)

~ A patch can be possible for 965 ASUS/MSI hardware, so keep on watching this community.

Is EFI emulation only for MBR? Or is EFI emulation implicit with GPT?

update news: some clever guy came up with a genius idea of replacing the damaged iso file in current seeding one, thinking (needs correction=bcoz i dont know if it would fix it or not) that it torrent would delete bad parts and download what is changed... therefore people started getting already damaged one... why? first bcoz rar file was damaged for some reason so it would give bad hash in the first place, by replacing it with the new one, you would get the wrong parts in totaly wrong order, and most stupidly, everyone will get the wrong one and seed everyone wrong pieces.... how genius... totally screwed... :) i suggest stopping at this stage as many people got the wrong part and seeded tons of BS...

no more correct ones... bcoz read my above note, it was fixed, and some guy came up with genius idea with damaged file, and while everything was smooth, he damaged everyone's iso now... and original seeder left already... so no clean iso around... ;) stop torrenting for now...

Other than being the current leopard version, any value this iATKOS v2 will have over v1?

stability, performance, ease of install, fixed any hardware component issues like AHCI/SATA port, memory freeze above 4GB, etc....?

you cant just fix the memory issue... it is architechure problem and related to drivers/chipset... it is not as easy i guess to fix that part of the problem... i dont know any value apart from 10.5.2being installed directly, so you dont need to update it again as in v1 it is 10.5.1...

with memory freeze issue, I meant there were some old kext still not removed or not patched recently. Like the jmicron controller kext for example. It is almost redundant now. Also it may also cause memory freeze above 4 GB if enabled in bios. The recent macs have new AHCI kexts that cyclonefr used for getting all four SATA ports working on gigabyte boards. And that solves a lot of other problems. So thats what I meant - the subtleties. -_-

I think after iATKOS v1 installation, I have tinkered too much with my installation. Replacing kexts here and there nilly willy and other system internals (about this mac, system profiler, audio, lan, firewire, name it). It would be nice to have an installer that would provide a lot of options like different audio packages, lan kexts to choose from to make an easy install. Or may be one main installer for general OS X installation and then a subsidiary installer (call it helper or sub-installer or something) that provides all the niceties like the audio packages, speedstep kernels, shutdown/restart modded kernels, or like the usb installer you made, AHCI modded kexts, etc).

Yeah well that was me that did that with the old iso. Now tell me I am bull{censored}ting and that what I did wouldn't work.

There has been times when I botched a release or it was just messed up, and users did the same thing with my iso's. And they turned out fine. So Do not try and blame me for the defunked iATKOS iso. It has some issues.

No mountable file system in os x .. at lease here. Second, even if the iso booted and installed for some users then that means that it is missing the acpi and apic kexts for older/some sse3 systems to boot, hence the no driver for this platform panic. Same as the original isos from iATKOS.

I stand beside JaS ...

From my technical understandings of the bittorrent protocol's hashing technique, what you did should have worked fine. The client should check the iso, find which parts don't match and redownload the correct ones. If placing a bad file could corrupt bittorrent downloads for everyone, we would see attacks of this sort all of the time. The underlying bittorrent protocol protects against this. From what I can see from the 3 individual downloads, the iso was somehow bad to begin with. (Note: I burned up all three of my demons this week, so if someone wants to give me an invite, it would make my year :( )

The idea of placing the damaged file and having the new torrent correct it, is in fact the way it works.

well, first the file name and its content are different things... rar was damaged and so the iso, you extracted it fine, but that doesnt mean it was the same iso... also explain this, if the iso was correct, why would both isos give different md5 hash? combining the packets from yours and from working one, made a nice mixed soup... I am not blaming you for your assumption, but you should have asked at least to the guy who was releasing it...

for the no driver thing? i dont think you are totally correct on that one... not all iatkos releases had the problem... plus every other release coming out has its own goods and bads, havent seen any release with all the issues corrected... you may argue that you wouldnt be able to make one that works on all systems, than your argument would disregard what you just said about it...

you are doing good job with your help to community and others but dont cover mistake with more mistakes... there may have been errors but you just added some more trouble to already fixed problem (fixed bcoz md5 was checked for the last iso, and you seeded/added the wrong one and all became spagetti... having worked for previous files doesnt mean it is gonna work for all the time...

It wasn't a nice mixed soup, as it matched the .torrent hashes 100%. The different hashes came form someone md5ing the .rar (unextracted), someone md5 the .iso from the extracted rar, and then the "correct" iso md5 posted by eskurza. In fact, the 3 md5s that I had were all the same. The extracted .rar iso matched the 2nd torrent, which also matched the 3rd. Complete downloads of all (that's how I burned my demons).

The original was bad, there is no getting around it. If the original was not bad, then why does eskurza have to wait to receive a corrected iso? From his description, it sounds as if his machine is corrupting the data (bad memory or disk.) If you don't understand the technical iterations and operations of the bittorrent protocol, please don't make assumptions :(

This is just a case of a corruption before the seeding started. Nothng after that was the cause, it was just the distraction, so let's calm down and wait for eskurza to post the corrected one, and then all celebrate, as I know I'm chomping at the bit to see this in action.

eskurza wrote:

Guys,

There is something wrong with the final iso Uphuck sent me..

The md5 of the file keeps changing..

I will post more info After sorting this out..

Sorry everyone for this..

Good points... now, who wants to tell Eskurza (and Uphuck)?
