johnniecarcinogen
Get it here: new intel Darwine DP Use http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=18111 instead of this guide if you are using the new intel darwine. 1. You must have x11 installed on your system from your installation disc (/System/Installation/Packages/ X11User.pkg). 2. Download the latest Darwine for intel. Mount (double click) the .dmg and drag the darwn folder into your application folder. 3. Open up the terminal and cd /Applications/Darwine/Wine.bundle/Contents/bin sudo ./winecfg That is all you are supposed to do, It may work for you but it didn't for me. I got errors. 4. Now to create the missing subdirectories that gave the errors sudo -s cd /tmp mkdir wine_root cd /Applications/Darwine/Wine.bundle/Contents cp -R lib /tmp/wine_root cp -R share /tmp/wine_root 5. Now you should be able to run Darwine correctly. 6. After installing a windows application the installed win programs are in a hidden folder: - open your Finder and click on home in the sidebar. - "shift+apple+G" and type .wine - go into drive_c and drag "Program Files" to the side bar for easy access to your windows apps! myzar
After deciding to give the new intel Darwine DP a try on my 10.4.5 installation, I found the information on the wiki outdated and irrelevent. It was completey wrong reguarding installation. So here is my guide: 1. You must have x11 installed on your system from your installation disc. 4. johnniecarcinogen
The tmp dir is wiped off at every reboot do you have a better workaround for this half assed darwine release ? You only have to do it once then after Darwine runs successfully, wine is configured permanently. Perhaps you should try it before you knock it. Zorn
johnniecarcinogen thank you very much for writing this. Darwine wasn't doing anything for me, and after I did the steps in your post exe files are loading. Might be worth noting I did this on a Macbook Pro with all the latest 10.4.5 updates
Bug
It looks like a 10.4.4 or 10.4.5 only app, it worked perfectly with these instructions under 10.4.5. Now.. Anyone know some half-usefull things to do with it and some .dll challenged applications

editopen
when i try to install X11 it tells me that i cannot put it on my HD because newer software is already there - that goes for both my G4powerbook and MacBook.... they are both running 10.4.5 fully up to date. when Darwine tries to open it tells me that there is no X11 installed!! and thus i have to install it in order to run a .exe... any ideas?? xx
FullMetal
I'm trying to install Darwine 0.9.9 in 10.4.4, but I keep getting this message! err:imagelist:ImageList_ReplaceIcon no color! err:imagelist:ImageList_ReplaceIcon no color! err:imagelist:ImageList_ReplaceIcon no color! err:imagelist:ImageList_ReplaceIcon no color! Application tries to create a window, but no driver could be loaded. Make sure that your X server is running and that $DISPLAY is set correctly. Any ideas of how to fix this? I figured it out! I opened xterm and typed this! DISPLAY=:0.0; export DISPLAY I got it to install, but I still get some small problems. EDIT:For some reason I hit a configure window for Darwine that crashed and now Darwine refuses to configure! I get the same message as before! EDIT: So apperantly Darwine is configured it just doesn't work!

johnniecarcinogen
you have to do step 4 in the terminal. BTW, which keys on a normal keyboard are shift+apple+G?[i should have said 'CMD+Shift+G' command is the 'Windows key' on most keyboards.
calinb
I reported the Darwine install bug here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?f...890&atid=526087 Has anyone tried 0.9.9 on a clean system yet? Did it work? The old install scripts were creating environment variables (to the /tmp path) that were ignored. Please report to this bug tracker, if you've had success without any workarounds to install 0.9.9. 0.9.9 also seems to work if you just drag and drop it over 0.9.7, but that doesn't check the installer, which runs the first time Darwine is launched.
