Rosetta and Driver Upgrades; New Build is Leaked

We've received unconfirmed reports concerning a few interesting new toys under the hood of OSx86 10.4.3, including a vastly improved Rosetta and brand new ATI drivers - each far more complete than in previous builds.

First, the Rosetta emulation platform in 10.4.3 build 8F1111A has been upgraded to feature full G4 support, including Altivec. This not only adds a new layer of compatibility to Rosetta, but also improved speed for Altivec-equipped applications. This upgrade is reportedly available as a small downloadable update to build 8F1111.

Also, new ATI drivers available in 10.4.3 seem to offer much greater support for PC ATI graphics chipsets. Preliminary reports indicate that they may support most of the 9000 line, and parts of the X series, including mobile chipsets. Apparently NVIDIA systems have not been given this treatment. Is this discrepancy simply due to the pace of driver porting at Apple, or will ATI graphics hold a special place in the Mactel world?

On a side note, the weekend brought a newly leaked copy of OSx86 10.4.3 build 8F1111, the most recent seed from Apple. This seed, with its universal binary of iTunes, is a newer version than the build which was recently cracked.

I downloaded the dmg.

I converted it to iso.

I ran that ppm patch on the iso.

Now vmware says kernel error or something and I think the iso is unbootable. (it was bootable before).

How do I make the ISO bootable?

Also, MagicISO is buggy and crashes and cannot save the iso etc and when it wants a boot image to make it bootable, i dont konw which file to choose from the iso and how to do it etc...

A simple way to patch new 8F1111 build DVD image from within macosx, without the need to converto the DMG to ISO (You need maxxuss antiTPM patch from previous build 8F1099 (that is files oah750 and oah750d):

Using terminal.app mount the image read/write with the following command :

hdiutil attach macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg -shadow /tmp/mac10.4.3.shadow -noverify

You'll see the disk icon pop up on screen.

cd into it

cd /Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD

cd into usr/libexec/oah , now make backups of the old files : mv oah750 oah750.old and mv oah750d oah750d.old

Now you can copy maxxuss oah750 and oah750d here.

When you're done exit terminal then open Disk Utility, you'll see the disk image icon on the left column (the one which looks like an unmounted disk image, not the one that looks like a mounted one) , select it and from the top menu press the BURN icon.

That's it.

About the build :

My Native Setup: Asrock 775GL 1Gig RAM , Pentium IV 2,6 Ghz with SSE3 and NOXD , integrated Intel GMA900 graphics, 80gig Maxtor Sata , LG DVDRW

Yes , now I've lost some 30 points in Xbench score. The processor is now seen as ADP2,1 and iTunes crashes. (I've tried drag'n'dropping iTunes from previous 8F1099 10.4.3 and it works perfect). Also sleep mode doesn't work properly. The rest works like a charm, and seems more stable.

NOTE: I have noticed that some older x86 apps (such as Mozilla Firefox, Quake III and others) crash or don't start up at all anymore. Maybe they need be recompiled ?

I had some problemes with 8F1099 and just solved it.

Every time I plugged or unplugged a USB key or iPod, or made a spotlight research, "mds" in Activity Monitor tooks 180 % of my CPU until I kill it...

So I just turned OFF Spotlight with the terminal :

sudo pico /etc/hostconfig

And replaced "YES" by "NO" for spotlight...

Now my 10.4.3 8F1099 is 100 % fast and stable...

Hope this can help...

Yes, thats what I posted before. You downloaded the 8FFFFF release which is not compatible with maxxuss' patch. We'll have to wait till there is a proper patch.

Anyway it looks like whoever said anything about 8F1111A was lying as it doesn't appear to exist. My developer cannot find it via Software Update nor could he find it off of the ADC site. Looks like it was a lie to get our hopes up so Rosetta probably doesn't support Altivec after all.

And the ATI drivers it's like Rosetta with Altivec ? a lie ?

Excuseme for my language, I'm italian :)

I have a Powerbook

I have downloaded the DMG file

Can I burn it directly with the PB and try to install the system on a x86 notebook without convert the image to iso?

What Build did you download?

What notebook are you planning to install to ? (See if it's supported in the HCL section of the wiki )

It depends on the CPU instructions your notebook support (SSE3 or SSE2 only ) , check the installation wiki, basically the most common path is : convert the dmg to iso, patch the iso usign Maxxuss PPF patch, then burn the iso. Ciao!

Don't worry guys!

Patches for 8F1111 will be released soon.

It seems as though this new build is only bad news anyway. Was this build actually released to developers, or leaked internally?

the file is macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg

I want (if it is possible) to install it on a Acer travelMate 292 LMi

it support only SSE2 (Centrino Banias 1.5) :)

i have read in this thread that whit the "new" 8f1111 isn't possible to convert the DMG to ISO at this time, because the MD5 is different from the previous versions

but I have also a PowerBook! Why convert dmg to iso when I can burn DMG directly from a real Mac?

I'm thinking: Can I burn the DMG directly from the PB without convert it in ISO for the burning with a x86 machine?

it's the same result? with this method (if it's possible) i can have a bootable image without convert the iso or wait for new patch for MD5 :D

thanks for the reply :)

Has anyone actually checked the altivec thing? Remember, if you install using Maxxus' patches, yuou'd lose that. Maxxus' patches replace the new rosetta files with older, cracked ones. They're not intended for this release.

Of course you can burn it on the PB without converting to ISO, but it would be of no help. This build 8f1111 still lack the necessary patches to make it run on non-SS3 capable cpus. So, it seems you will have to get the previous version , or wait until Maxxuss or somebody else releases the new patches. And the DMG to ISO conversion is NEEDED FOR THE PATCHING PROCESS ONLY, it doesn't matter if you burn it on the PB or onto some other computer. The patcher programme expects to patch an ISO file not a DMG (which is compressed).

Yes, where can we find the list of ATI card full supported ?

No, the ATI drivers work as my Radeon 9800 XT is accelerated and is working great.

Could you post a Xbench ? :(
