  1. P5K-SE - Retail Leopard Instalation

Working 10.5.8 setup. Snow Leopard Update Found the Bios-Mod 1402 with AHCI. Install Bios from USB Stick in bios. Change to AHCI in Bios. Iatkos-10.6.3 S3 now boots and installs. Choose EFI 10.X, oopz 10.6.3 kernel, USBFix, Enable ACHI in bios. Nvida for a 8600GT. M-audio USB Box for sound Dual boot with Leopard now. Will try update to 10.6.7
  2. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Off Topic. Can anyone comment on the Build quality of the 1201N ? Does it run fairly Cool? I remember looks at some of the thin MSI 13.3 inch laptops and it was of the flimsiest plastic.
  3. Install 10.6.2 with the Dan 1234 disk. Use defaults. Just Works. !~ Use working DSDT.aml from Dell 1520 10.6.0/1 and VoodooHDA and Voodoobattery. Update to 10.6.3 with Download. No keyboard or mouse. USB works. Same as before no sleep or complete shutdown. Tried some Voodoo ps2 kext. and some Vostro preference.pane files nothing yet. All it needs is keyboard and mouse working. Photobooth still works. 8600GT video and swapped 3495 wireless for 1520 broadcom.
  4. iPhone vs iPod Touch

What put me off the Touch. No built in Mic. I want to be able to voice record . Like I can do this on My Dell Axim x50v. No Camera . Or video camera . But video cam on ipod nano. Better speaker on iphone , built in mic, camera and or video camera on latest version. iphone to much $ ipod to restricted . Guess their scared of creating a Skype phone. Tech specs details harder to find details. 32 and 64gig 2nd gen ipod touch have better graphics and maybe faster processor than 8 gig touch.
  5. Snow Leopard on Inspiron 1520

iAtkos 10.5.7 Got the above installed. No CI/QE Display @ 1440x900 Sound works good Tried a few different NVinjext.kext nothing yet NVkush blacked screen. thinks it needs 512 Video ram trick. Have to learn make a dsdt as well Needs fine tuning to get sleep etc. Noticed -v boot has yellow lines ACPI fail. Using Kernel 9.7 off disk. Hearing Vanilla is working , which method would install that?
  6. Have you installed to the drive on an other computer and added the kext driver? Not sure what you mean. Have you made a Fat32 Primary partition? Used the rd command ? Specify root disk rd = root disk. something like rd=disk1s2 or rd=diskXsX ie X = where it's going or is. Is your nforce supported? ON ahci or sata in bios etc.
  7. Snow Leopard on Inspiron 1520

Hi Can you tell me the easiest way to get 10.5.8 or 10.5.7 up and running. So far I can do an install with iatkos 10.5.4. 1440x900 no QE/CI or sound. Chose speed step kernel and can boot with out any flags. No luck yet with iatkos 10.5.7 or ideneb 10.5.8. Usally kernel panic on DVD boot. Looks kind of promising even let me take a logon picture during setup. Now no cam with photo-booth most likely from display driver. Is everything working but the wireless, ie sleep etc? Thanks 1440x900 display, 8600GT video, C2D 1.6, 120 gig drive , BT, Cam,Firewire. I was hesitant to get this Dell as there's endless threads on these 8600gt /Nvidia manufacturing Foobars, as well as battery and Adapter issues. But couldn't resist a bargain. What bios do you recommend? looks likeI have the original 00 bios here. I saw an 07 bios or something but the threads mentioned Dell had put the Nvidia fan on full time to help quell the failures. PS Finally bought Snow Leopard , still packaged in the Box M-audio hasn't even got drivers out yet, I can wait.
  8. Which MacBook Pro to buy?

Was planning on a Refurbished Alu Macbook , @ $1049 Can. Only glitch is no Firewire, for Audio use. Don't like the plastic case Macbooks now that Alu is available. Can't see much point in spending hours cooking a netbook , will it will suck for Audio apps and CPU power. The next generation Netbooks might get close.
  9. Audigy 2 ZS Onboard sound just sputtered noise. Installed Audigy and still get distortion on Youtube or VLC player . Sound effects play clean. Wasn't sure about AMD setup. But pretty good install with iDeneb 10.5.8 and 9.8 Voodoo kernel. Turned off onboard sound in bios, pretty much the same. Asus M3A78-EM board. With AMD X2 dual-core. Thanks for the Driver, Watching for new release's and check the thread again for pointers
  10. Using earlier Chameleon works better for me. Sounds like R2 works for some. Had to go through all this with the Win 7 bootloader. If partition was made active win 7 boot from DVD repair mode could attempt to fix it but still wouldn't boot. Had to go through this manually , its all Vista related. Start here after boot from DVD repair with terminal : bcdedit /export c:\BCD_backup c: cd boot attrib bcd -s -h -r ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old bootrec /Rebuildbcd I believe that enables only win 7 too boot again. I've got grub booting all from a AVlinux install. The AVlinux distro has a remaster-sys re-install grub from the liveCD. It needs to find a linux install on your drive to add to the Grub menu though. So once Windows boots again then re-install Grub that windows wiped out, and add OSX to the menu.1st file. other bootrec.exe commands. below Google it. Bootrec.exe /Fixmbr /Fixboot /ScanOS /RebuildBcd
  11. iDeneb v1.4 10.5.6 Released!

AFAIK Waiting for root device. Can't find your(HD) osx partition. Could try booting with or without the dvd F8 rd=disk0s1 ??? diskXXX = where your install is. Try with dvd if rd command don't work. You'll get to VGA mode if it works. make sure you have the right sata driver at installation. Maybe doesn't like what the drives are jumpered as. Good Luck
  12. dvd to ipod program

I spent too much time trying to convert video for my Daughters newly acquired 2.4inch Walkman. Found this program which works fine so far. (No multi thread) It's a win program but hey it's free , might try it in Wine eventually. Jodix Free iPod Video Converter http://www.snapfiles.com/get/jodixipodvideo.html
  13. Need OS 9

Depends what brand of CD. Some work pretty good. others not. I can't remember the brand that was recommended -- google around. I suppose you've found the CD version of Tiger? FWIW The VLC site " There never was or will be a version for OS9"
  14. USB Bluetooth adapter

Ya I got a Dell blue Tooth a while back about $40 on sale with free shipping keyboard and mouse with USB receiver/trans. Works fine its a re branded Logitech. Most wireless infra red keyboards only advertised 15ft range if your lucky. I think this was supposed to be 30ft , which would make 15ft pretty reliable. It's nice has a on/off switch on both peripherals to save battery and the wheel / volume control works to.
  15. iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 Released!

Pacifist. If you selected it during install it's in /Applications/ iDeneb App/ folder. If not get it off the Net. Nice release
