There was a meeting this morning with the Apple press team, and they confirmed that they will allow the iPhones to update themselves to FirmWare 1.1.2. The update will bring wider language support with international keyboards and special character keys, and access to The Cloud Wi-Fi hotspots for UK users. No word yet on if the update will destroy 3rd party applications installed on the iPhone, but it is expected that the update will.

I can't tell is access to The Cloud in the UK is free or not.

I've read somewhere that it is and somewhere else that there's roughly a £6 monthly charge to access it.

Anyone know what it is?

Also whether it's free or not is it possible to access The Cloud using a laptop either by having the iPhone connected to your laptop or using whatever login details you're provided to access The Cloud?

This update is basically getting the iPhone ready for the UK release... really, unless english is your second language, this iPhone update will not benefit American users.

It fixes the TIFF exploit and some say it's increased the iPhone's speed/performance

Does anyone know why Apple is releasing the iPhone in the UK at 6:02pm?

Maybe some symbolism to O2?

hmm...
