Hi people!

Unfortunately jjduro one of the most experienced and active users of osx86 when it comes to Asus laptops has been banned on insanelymac and now he only can send receive private messages... By the way he just sent me an email with EFI strings for Geforce Go 7300 (created by Geticus).

Now we can have QE/CI without injectors like natit, nvkush, nvinject, corevidia or nvdarwin. TESTED!

This string is suppose to provide dual monitor support, but it hasn't been tested yet.

You only have to add it these lines to your com.apple.boot.plist (sorry I'm at work so I can't attach the file, I will edit the psot when i arrive home):

<key>device-properties</key>

<string>5c0400000100000001000000500400001700000002010c00d041030a000000000101060000010

I can't test the dual monitor support but as soon as I arrive home today I will try this string so I can have QE/CI without injectors!!!!

Hello, I have a custom built computer that is very simmilar to the F3SR. I have a dual core 2.6 processor and an ATi HD2400 Mobility 256mb. I have an external display also. I have installed Kalyway 10.5.2 with the Vanilla kernel and i get sound and on my laptop display i get a jumbled mess but can see that it is going through the startup. My external display starts off with the apple sign, then goes to grey, and then turns black when the music starts playing and it goes through the apple intro. How can I get my computer to display what i see on the laptop screen on the vga out instead. I think if that happened, it would work. Anything would be helpful. Thanks.

Hey there people!

Say, anyone out there managed 2 get Leopard 10.5.6 (or higher) working on Asus' f3sr?

I'm about 2 install Leopard, but 1st i'd like 2 know just what won't b working post-installation and installation problems you've experienced on this PC!

Also, could you possibly give me some advice b4 i do what's said on the 1st post?... like, stuff that's said there that's bound 2 b inappropriate/uneeded 4 this specific PC (f3sr)... like r there any steps i shouldn't follow or change or do i need 2 flash my bios or something like that?

BTW, what do you reckon is the best 10.5.6 distro 4 the Asus f3sr?

i'm thinking about using iPc 10.5.6 final...m i right?

Believe me, i'm not lazy, and 4 the past week I've read everything i could lay my eyes upon here on InsanelyMac's Forum and googled a lot, but i'm still not sure about some stuff, so i'd appreciate your help!

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

i started and i got it working somewhat,

i installed this osx from this iso "SnowOSX_Universal_10.6(432)GM-v3.5.iso"

got these files http://www.megaupload.com/?d=I8OT45HP from this thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...183849&st=0

then i booted up a live ipc version of osx to throw on those kext files

it boots up, and has internet, the audio doesn't work and i don't think the video drivers do either.

the partitions don't show up on the desktop and they show up as folders instead of icons inside computer.

if anyone can help me out to get sound and video drivers working properly, that would be great.

Finder-> Preferences->General (show partitions on the desktop )

Audio-> search for voodooHDA.kext

Graphics-> if you have nvidia add

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>Yes</string>

to your com.apple.Boot.plist

so i kept playing around with snow leopard and for some reason after 2 restarts from the first time it boots, even without doing anything to the system files, it doesn't boots up anymore.

So i've gone back to leopart, 10.5.7 (iATKOS7). everything works after install except for internet. i tried using the same AttansicL1Ethernet.kext file that worked with snow leo, but it doesn't work.

any ideas?

i did this after placing the kext into the extensions folder

sudo -s

enter your pass

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AttansicL1Ethernet.kext

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AttansicL1Ethernet.kext

sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

diskutil repairpermissions /

edit:

found a package driver for 10.5.6 and it worked

Is sleep possible with f3sv on 10.5.7?

Then exit disk utility, agree to the agreement, select your new partition as installation destination. Click "Customize" in final screen and select ONLY these options:

- Vanilla_Kernel

- Vanilla_ACPI_fix

- BOOT_efi_mbr (under Bootloaders EFI)

I am installing kalyway 10.5.2 on a Asus F3Sc, and I didn't have the options Vanilla_ACPI_fix or BOOT_efi_mbr (under Bootloaders EFI) it had only these and I selected AppleSMBIOS-27-Default cause it said that final cut will work with that one... don't know if I did that right...

Anyway now I still have not found a correct driver for wifi, sound and video, only LAN works.

Sleep does not work

Restart works

Shutdown hangs and gives-me the message "You need to restart your computer. Hold Down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button."

Anyone know how to fix this? any success case with a f3sc?

thanks

i have an ASUS f3sc. download the latest iDeneb. Almost everything works, except wifi if you have an intel like me,sleep, and shutdown works sometimes.

i installed Snow Leopard, and it is more stable, it can shutdown...(i dont use sleep...but it does no work..but i thinks its possible) and i switch the wifi card so it could work.

but if you want to stay in leopard, i recomend you iDeneb (or iPC, it worked for me too). Good luck!

Well but I already spent some time configuring this one... to make sound and shutdown work all I may need is only a few kext's...

before ideneb you tried others? ideneb version 1.6 (lite?!)?! and how did you upgrade to snow? via update software ?

i used iDeneb v1.3 last year. that was my first distro that worked well.

to upgrade to snow i did a clean install using some tutorials. You cant upgrade via software update.
