DJChee
Mac OS X Hippo Edit: Changed from Hippopotamus to Hippo, it sounds better
The Xeon Quad Man
Cougar sounds more Apple-ish then Lion does. Cougar sounds so Apple-ish that before I opened this thread I thought it was referring to a code name for an early version of Mac OS X (like .1 or .2 or something IDK). iSkylla
I would simply go for 10.6 Cat
Macshiba
10.6 should be Mac OS X Prion, for Prionailurus, which is another family of cats, as most of the other families have already been used to represent the other build. Plus Prion just sounds really High tech to me. Like, "Man, I'm using OS X Prion". Just sounds badass.
EddM
I am already using OS 10.6 and I can confirm that it is called Mac OS X Moggy*. * This post may or may not be an outright fabrication.

Metuas
What about Cheetah (10.0) and Puma (10.1)? Do cheetahs also belong to the Pantheras? .nomac Puma is another name for Cougar. If memory serves me, Cheetahs are Acionyx jubatus. They are not Panthera or felis.

Scottapotamas
apple can trademark animal names now??? What has this world come to???
Adrian Fogge
Trademarking names of animals when used to describe an Operating System, yes... They however could not call iWork Snow Leopard Edition without obtaining a new trademark. They could however call it iWork for Snow Leopard without obtaining a new trademark. However, obtaining a trademark is very easy as long as no one else already has an existing conflicting trademark covering a similar product. By the way... why re-open this long dead topic to ask this? ~Adrian
