  1. Good mac laptop budget 2k worths it?

Yeah, if I had $2K USD to spend on a laptop, I'd buy a MacBook Pro. I'd probably end up doing a Windows 7/Snow Leopard dual boot if that was the case. I just don't think you can beat the build quality, battery life, and the size vs. performance ratio is very good.
  2. An Alternative to Intel 4965AGN Wireless Card

Cool, I might have to look into that for my DellBook Pro which has a 4965.
  3. Video capture software?

Quicktime 10, just go to File > New Screen Recording. It's fast, simple, and included in every Snow Leopard install.
  4. iFire, iBlaze, and MacFire!

I like Xblaze add-on for Adium, I just need it to talk to people on Xfire from my Mac install. I don't run games under OS X, so its just nice to have an all-in-one chat solution for everything.
  5. F-Secure Antivirus is here for MAC, Free Beta available

Wow, people actually use Anti-virus programs on the Macintosh? It wasn't till Microsoft released the free Security Essentials program that I ran a real-time AV program on my Windows install. At least on the Windows side, almost every one I ever tried I ended up uninstalling because it was just hogging up all my system resources.
  6. OS X Runs Better on a PC

I am sure it depends entirely on the specs of the system just as it does in Windows. It doesn't matter if your PC is branded with an Apple logo, a Dell logo, engraved with a Voodoo logo, or built on your kitchen table by your chimpanzee. It all comes down to the CPU, RAM, mainboard, etc. not the logo on the outside. It is on the inside that counts.
  7. Post your Geekbench score

  8. Best Wireless Card for OS X

Hello all, I am looking for an affordable Wireless G (or N) adapter that is either PCI or USB. I want something that is plug&play with OS X Leopard/Snow Leopard and Windows 7. Any suggestions are welcome.
  9. Webcam for Dell XPS M1530

To be honest I have a Dell XPS M1530...and in Windows Vista it gets 5 to 10 fps. I think the cameras in here are just {censored}. No matter what drivers, or software I try it still sucks. It will only give you 25+ fps in very bright lighting and after messing with settings.
  10. Mac OS X 86 Leopard Anti-Virus and Firewall

Dude, I don't use Anti-Virus in Leopard or Vista. If your careful you shouldn't need any.
  11. Tested Applications, Games, etc.

Try installing NVKush if you got an Nvidia graphics card... Um, people having problems with iMovie and other iLife apps crashing should download the updates for them. For me iMovie 08 went from crashing every two seconds to 100% stable with the latest updates for it.
  12. Crysis on mac :)

Call of Duty 4 is awesome too. On my 8800GT (full specs below) I can play Crysis in all High settings with no AA at 1680x1050. At 1024x768 you can play Crysis maxed out (except AA) on a system such as mine. AA does kill Crysis performance and does not add much to the way it looks. Personally I'd recommend running it with no AA unless you have a highend SLI/Crossfire setup in your rig. Also with Vista x64 you will get better performance running Crysis 64 bit, as the 64 bit version of Crysis gets about 15 to 18% better framerates then the 32 bit version.
  13. Why Do Mac Users Feel Piracy is Evil ? lol

I know what you mean, it does seem like Mac users are more against piracy typically. But for every Mac user I know that is totally against piracy, there is another Mac user I know that downloads so much pirated stuff that they run out of things to pirate.
  14. 10.5.4 is released !

Worked here, all is good I think. Sound still works, graphics still work, networks good. Went from iATKOS 10.5.1 to Kalyway 10.5.2 comboupdate to Kalyway 10.5.3 comboupdate (and 9.3 vanilla). Finally on 10.5.4 using Delta Update (88MB) from Apple Download site. That also installed the 9.4 vanilla kernel. So I'm on 10.5.4 with 9.4 vanilla kernel now Specs in my signature...should be detailed enough I hope
  15. Need Good Apple Logo for "About this Mac" window

I do have Photoshop for Windows, so maybe I'll try that, then bring it into OS X. I ended up using this as it has a transparent background: I might try and edit in the "Mac OS X" underneath it. Since right now I just have this with "10.5.3" written underneath it lol.
