Is there any way to enable dual core in HP laptops?

Here is the link to the BIOS file for HP nx7400:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36501-37000/sp36750.exe

Chipset: Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset with 667-MHz front side bus

Graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950

I've installed Kalyway 10.5.2 with dual core disabled, and it is very stable. Enabling dual core couses kernel panic.

Kabyl,

It's a long shot but is there any way you could edit the BIOS for the Asus P5KPL-VM board. I keep getting :

"Waiting for boot volume UUID" and never get to the GUI part.

I know others on this forum claim to have the board installing ok, I have pm'd them and posted in there threads but they are reluctant to help me out.

Thanks if you could help

Andy.

I got an Asus F3JC and installed succesfully kalyway 10.5.1 

I think Leopard recognizes that I got core 2 duo 2x1,66Ghz. How can I be sure about that?

If leopard recognize my core 2 duo, do I really need the modified bios?

Will the modified bios affect to my windows xp or Ubuntu?

Thanks people and keep up that good work!

hey Kabyl

What do you need in order to help you with Dell bios? why is it so hard to make? just wondering, like what's so different about it. or dell blocked it in order not to copy/reproduce their bios?

XPS M1210 A08 System BIOS <- that's the bios that my laptop uses...

Here is the link

Thanks for you help :)

With the other boards/laptops we know the _cause_ of the issue, this is not the case with Dell laptops.

For people who posted their requests: I will try to mod the BIOSes asap :angel_not:

Hi Kabyl,

My system is:

C2D E8400 3.0Ghz

MSI P35 Neo 3 with Bios v1.1

2GB DDR2

8800GTS 512mb Overclocked

HDD 250GB SATA2

DVD/RW IDE Sony

Problem:

I am not even able to start the installation. My screen stays at the grey screen with a small circle with no activity in hdd or dvd, for several hours. In verbose mode it stops at ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::start(AppleACPICPU) <1> while using iAtkos and at AppleACPICPU::start(p004) <1> with BrazilMac for Intel only.

I have tried every possible method mentioned earlier but had no succes.

Maybe you can help me and many other MSI users.

The link to the bios files (Please notice that I have Bios v1.1):

http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=do...mp;prod_no=1342

Thanks in advance man.

Hi,

this is my first post insanelymac, i think.

I use MSI's value notebook, and I have tried several install dvds, but all failed.

So by last chance I decide to modify BIOS.

Could you patch this bios?

http://downloadx.msi.com.tw/files/download...xe/1422_008.zip

Tho model name of this notebook VR420X, which uses intel gl960 chipsets and intel pentium conroe.

Most of dvds complaind about ACPI related problem.

I believe and hope bios modification will work.

Thank you so much.

Kabyl already fixed 208 (newest bios) for F3Sv's.

This is the link http://rs335.rapidshare.com/files/10116240...Sv208AS_mod.zip ,but read complete thread just to be sure that information is accurate.

So if you want to get a fixed BIOS, you can PM me post your request here, included with:
  • a direct link to the BIOS file,
  • your PC specs (CPU, Chipset and Graphics Card),
  • and a description of the issues.

Don't PM me with requests, post them in this thread.

I will try to make a repository if I get more fixed BIOSes, so that other people will benefit from it.

Hi kabyl,

Can i get you to modify one for a dell 530 precision workstation, dual xeon 2.2ghz 400FSB ?

http://ftp.us.dell.com/bios/R88830.exe (ver. A11)

iAtkosv1.0iir2 + Kalyway 10.5.2 + Leopard gfx update + Speedstep 9.2 kernel

Dell Precision 530WS - Dual 2.2Ghz Pentium Xeon(400 FSB) SSE2 , Intel 860 Chipset , 1GB ram (256mb-PC800 RDRAM RIMM x4) , ATI 9800 pro AIW

I'm using iAtkos v1iir2 , system profiler reports back only 3 cores, ram reports back 333mhz, video card no qe/ci (just fyi)
