At the last page of the thread, it says that the installer is obsolete as of 10.5.5. I tried it on my gigabyte 9600GT and it wrecked my install.

I've been trying to get my 9600gt running properly, I set up the EFI string and that helped a bit but I'm now stuck with 1280x1024 as my only resolution choice. Is there a kext that will work for me, or is there a way to force a higher resolution? The current res is makes reading pretty unpleasant.

My specs:

OSX 10.5.7

Geforce 9600gt 512mb

Asus M2N-Sli

AMD Athlon x2 64-Bit

My Captiva 9600GT 1GB (VGAm HDMI, DVI) drives me nuts.

10.6.2 (GigabyteOsx - now Kakewalk) install works fine under VGA (installed on Syncmaster, 226BW, screen using VGA over KVM).

But VGA / DVI ports on the 9600GT are wonky.

- Now i wanted to connect my 30" ACD (DVI only).

- DVI port seems not to work.

Solution:

1) Boot up with VGA and DVI connected on syncmaster.

2) Syncmaster switches to DVI

3) Plug in ACD DVI: new resolution is selected and ACD working (until restart).

- Leaving a deadend VGA cable in the 9600GT VGA port will not help.

Any clues?

thanks.

I got my setup to work with multiple resolutions by reformatting and keeping NVResman, but now I get graphical artifacts, they're more annoying than anything because they'll often stick on screen until I move a window through them. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this?

Whenever i manage to enable QE/CI on my Galaxy 512mb 9600GT I get horrible mouse lag which make the hackintosh unusable pretty much. Any ideas?

----------------------------------------

Here's what i did:

fresh install iDeneb 1.3 - NO GRAPHICS DRIVERS

install aquamacs package

make an EFI string on OSX86 tools for my graphics card.

I boot up and yay i got QE/CI working....but with ridiculous mouse lag and some video lag. :(

----------------------------------------

I'm not sure anyone else has had this problem. It seems whatever method i use to enable QE/CI i always end up with a laggy mouse. OSX = 10.5.5

edit: I have found out that removing 'NVresman.kext' removes mouse lag, but then my resolution goes back to 1280x1024 and i have no QE/CI :(

Figured I'd post with an update. I finally got my problem fixed, I installed Hazard Snow Leopard and used the EFI string I generated in my previous install. It runs beautifully.

To everyone having problems, I highly suggest getting that copy of Snow Leopard and installing it. Remember to generate the EFI string in a non-snow leopard install and save it somewhere! Generating a string in Snow Leopard won't work!

On Snow Leopard 10.6.2, my Sparkle Geforce 9600GT is working with QE/QI but only at the highest resolution of the monitor. Used Chameleon 2.0 r431 bootloader, generated efi strings in Snow leopard with help from thread from Aquamac forums and put it in boot.plist.

very exciting but curious if someone can explain this. i just did a retail vanilla install on a Core 2 Quad and Gigabyte EP45-UD3P motherboard, I popped in a BFG 9600 GT OC (675mhz) 512 MB (device id 0x0622) and I booted up the first time to see QE/CI enabled. I didnt do anything. Didn't install any drivers or efi strings, it just works straight out of the box. Does this mean I can add same card, same device ID and have dual cards working natively out of the box? Or would I have to edit a plist somewhere?

any ideas would be great

Hey ..

i've

Gigabyte Nvidia 9600GT - 1024m DDR3

and i've snow leopard 10.6.2

i need a KEXT or anything to Fully Supported this graphic card

Thanks 4 Helping

and sorry for my bad english

I didn't delete your post because I am too soft, but for god's sake, do a bit of search before posting a new topic.

And that is true for everybody. Thanks.

Ok. I tried to search and even installed NVInject. But my 9600GT seems to be working "not-fully". System works fine. And default template OpenGL app for iPhone is working in emulator. Cheetah 3d is also working. But more complex iPhone project is not working. Autodesk Maya 2011 hangs on load (shows UI but no viewports). Skype crashes on videocall also. I think there are some problems with videocard. I have 10.6.3 MacOS X installed (but I had same problems before update). How I can check OpenGL working correctly? Any other ideas to get video card working? What i can tell about my system to get answer? Thanks.

I just added an EFI-string to my com.apple.boot.plist, and voilà - it works.

Great card this 9600 GT, silent cell - no fan at all :-)

Edit: Well yes, it worked fine, both with just 'GraphicsEnabler=yes', and the EFI-string. But having problems with my HDTV, even if my monitor works just fine (on every output, DVI/VGA/HDMI)

I've got a Gigabyte 9600 GT 512 MB Silent Cell gfx-card, with DVI, VGA (dvi-adapter) and HDMI outs. [so in practice 2xDVI)

I've set my card up, and it's working fine, with Chameleon RC4, GraphicsEnabler=yes. I've also, successfully tried using an EFI-string.

My main monitor (22", 1680x1050) works perfectly, both through DVI and VGA. Graphics acceleration is enabled.

My problem i: When I connect my HDTV, to ANY of my outputs (ok, haven't tried VGA), with or without my main monitor connected, the screen flickers/blinks. So for a few seconds I get a picture, and then a black screen, and this keeps repeating itself (indefinitely it seems).

I had a 8800 GTS 320MB before this gfx-card, and it worked fine (DVI-HDMI adapter), so I don't think there's anything wrong with the HDTV (or the connection/cables) per se.

The HDTV is detected just as it should, and I'm able to change resolutions and what not.

Here's a screenshot of the gfx-card section in the system profiler:

ANY help or thought is appreciated! I really want to be able to use Plex on my HDTV again!

Thank you!

FULLY SUPPORTED (QE/CI) HP DV5 - Nvidia 9600m GT.

I have HP DV5 with nVidia 9600M GT and Snow Leopard 10.6.2(iPortable distribution) . Now i have fully supported Quartz Extreme and Core Image.

Do not use any NVinject and Nvenabler kext. instead just leave nvidia driver in system/library/extentions and remove rest of the graphic driver kexts (such ATI and Intel)

i am putting screenshot of what i have in DSDT.aml, boot.apple.plist, extention folders.

Hello :( ,

I hope I don't bump up a too old topic, but I can't create a new Topic until my 5th post...

My problem:

I have an Acer Aspire 7730 G with:

  • Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T6400 @ 2.00 GhZ (shown as 2.03 GhZ in OSX)
  • NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 1024 MBytes DDR2
  • 3072 MBytes DDR2 Ram
  • Win7 and iATKOS v7

cpuzgraka.png

The sound in OS X works great, after setting "Grapics Mode"="1440x900x32" in boot.plist I also got the right Display mode...

But it seems that I have got that 9600 Issue... When moving a window, it is looking weird and it doesen't really move... - I read that that this is a known issue with the 9600

I found this tut(maybe helpful for others): using-9600-gt-on-mac-os-x

But my 9600 doesn't show up in OS X, it shows(at Grapics/Display):

Type: Display

Bus: PCIe

PCIe Lane Width: x16

VRAM(total): 32 MB

Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)

Device ID: 0x0649

Revision ID: 0x00a1

Displays:

Display:

Resolution: 1440x900

and so on...

I have no clue what to do...

Any help would be great :P

If you need more information, just ask...

Best regards,

rei

edit: Oh, and Win7 also didn't really recognized the graka till i installed the driver from nVidia, before that my mainboard(cpu) graka was used...

SOLVED!

I found the solution!

I installed NVEnabler 0.1 + GT200 EVGA driver from the iAtkos disk, and now it works like a charm :)

I can set different Display Resolutions and will now try other, different things :)

sorry, i forgot i copied a few kexts from previous install, nvinject edited for the 9600 gt was one of them, so thats why it worked fine

although NVinject.kext worked fine for this 9600 GT, and editing my device ID into geforce kexts, the easiest way to get this card going was to select 8800 GT in osx86 tools, and install EFI string. its basically the same card rebranded, and 8800 GT EFI works great, recognized on reboot
