Synaesthesia
This card with 512mb is awesome! Wonder if it will work in Mac OS X? Some reviews... At the same time, AMD has cut prices of it's 3850 and 3870 cards to combat the new threat. They now cost $170 and $185 at newegg, respectively. Impressive. .nomac
The 9600GT is slightly less powerful than the 8800GT so I guess an 8800GT is the better choice for any OSx86 interested User. If there will be no powerful and cheap 9800 card in the near future, then I think my new PC will be powered by a GeForce 8800GT, since you can also find this one in Apple's Mac Pro. .nomac
netkas
no go in osx yet.
Paranoid Marvin
no go in osx yet. That's a shame. It'll be interesting how much this card will be. Performance wise, it's nearly identical to the HD 3870. Im looking at getting a new card round about that performance this easter, so price and OS X compatibility will be the deciding factors
VanillaTbone
I just bought the PNY model today from newegg... Hopefully it will get support from the OSx86 project soon...
RouteZeroDesign
How long until a 9800gtx? Im buying two 8800gtxs at the moment, should i wait for the 98@@ before making the plunge? Currently im running integrated gpu on my mac book......and a voodoo 3dfx card on my pc lol, the pci-e slots are very annoyed with me lol
cyclonefr
As soon as someone receives it, please try it with nvinject And let us known how it goes !
cmdshft
Wont be supported because of the chipset. As of now, OS X only supports up to the G92 chipsets, these are G94's.
terrancew_hod
At first I thought there was a faster card on the market after I just paid for a 8800GT. Whew! I read the Tom's Hardware article and the the card is pretty good, but I should see better performance out of mine since it is overclocked at 700mhz. I have to get out of the Mac OS long enough to test it though...

My bad, thought they were G92 Yeah they won't work then. But you are wrong on one point, OSX supports G98 (9400 series) too, but not G94.

sh0td0wn
Wow.. can't believe 3870 killed it.. referring to benchmarks above.
apowerr
Wow.. can't believe 3870 killed it.. referring to benchmarks above. Yep, I'm happy with my 3870. Great price to performance. Still, it's nice to know that the GeForce 9 Series will offer good midrange, something the 8 Series lacked.
Synaesthesia
The 3870 is just as fast as the 9600GT. Add the fact that it works in OS X and you have a winner!
Colonel
Only $200 from TigerDirect.. I'd get one if I had PCI Express 2.0 on my motherboard..
Dermatea
You don't absolutely need PCI-Express 2.0 to run this card, because it'll still run great without it, however to get the most out it, you do need a PCI-Express 2.0 compatible slot. cyclonefr
Wrong... Even most high end cards like 8800GTX are not using 100% of PCIe 1.0 x16, so don't expect ANY card, specially a mid range one like 9600GT to actually need PCIe 2.0 to fully run. It'll run the same on PCIe 1.0, exactly the same. Don't ask me why though this card is PCIe 2.0, that's another mystery Even the 8800GT... Since PCIe 1.0 cards are working on PCIe 2.0 slots... edmoncu
got myself two of these... hope that OSX x86 support will apply to this card soon im still thinking what motherboard to use these cards at.
Synaesthesia
Why not just get a 8800GT or 8800GTS and be sure that it will work? SLI definitely doesn't work, but the 3870X2 and crossfire does...
