verdant
Before I reinstall the OS can you tell me what settings you had checked off on the kalyway install since you have we have very similar mobos. I have the kalway 10.5.2 disk. Hi there, For my BIOS settings read my blog on Overclocking my Q6600/Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus to 3.3Ghz (also see my blog on sorting out my "About This Mac"). More to come..... when I find the time.... :censored2: Unless you do or want to overclock, you only need to check the settings under "Overclock Settings" and can set Spread Spectrum Control to AUTO. Virtualization Technology can be set either way but as I do not need it at present I set it to DISABLED. My Kalyway 10.5.2 Install DVD choices were: Additional Fonts Y (Optional - I may need them in future) Language Translations N Kernels Default Graphics _Drivers (You would choose NVinject-512 I guess) Audio_Drivers N Networks_ Drivers Defaults (But my onboard LAN does not work with OS X x86; I have a Netgear GA311 PCI card fitted for Gigabit LAN) Mobo_Chipsets Default Thirds_Applications Your choice (I chose candybar,changeFinder,colloquy,Growl,kextHelperB7,onyx,pacifist,perian,ppfomatic stuffitExpander, textmate, vlc, xbench) SSE2_Jas1048_ACPI_APIC Default i.e. N Patches : Hardcoded_SMBIOS Default i.e. Lastnetkassmbios boot_with-cpus=1_flag N PCGenUSB_Fix N Francais_pc_keyboard_layout N TimeMachineFix Y PowerManagement_bundle N Intel Memory Controller N AMD_1052_Patches Default i.e. N Hope this helps.... I have yet to try iATKOS 2.01 on my test volume but will do.....and post results on my blog and/or in forum.... dopyoman
@Haxi Thanks a lot I got it working. I had to select the nforce kernel though and everything seems to be working. Im using an old hp pci network card and it works perfect. Thanks for everything. @rernkent You'll need to select the drive you want to install on and and then click on Erase to format it. Also make sure you select Mac OS journaled. In choosing kernel_92_nforce rather the default kernel_9.2_sleep, are you still able to sleep and wake OS X successfully? It would be helpful to others for you to post your BIOS settings and Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD selections specific to the Asus P5N32-E SLI motherboard.... the partition i want to install mac osx into is not unlocated...You mean i have to go into the disk utility during installation to erase?Hi there,Firstly, is your hard drive partitioned used GUID or MBR? (MBR seems to present ferwer problems....)Secondly, you need to use Disk Utility from within either the Kalyway 10.5.2 or iATKOS 2.01 running installer to erase the volume you want to install OS X to, and use a volume name without spaces and format it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)Hopefully this will get you on your way.... You need to learn about Darwin EFI versus Darwin x86 bootloaders and about MBR versus GUID partitioning..... search on Google.... The Darwin x86 bootloader preceded the Darwin EFI bootloader..... Darwin is the bootloader and EFI is the BIOS equivalent employed by Apple (it is a an updated BIOS specification developed by Intel).....x86 PCs still employ BIOS so the Darwin EFI bootloader boots via the BIOS and then emulates EFI. This way the Mac OS X system can be installed and then run because it is "tricked" by the Darwin bootloader into thinking is booting from EFI..... foxelement
I've got a big problem. I've tried with leo4all, kalyway and iatkos 1.0iR2 and 2.0i and none of them even start the installation. My rig: Proc: P4 3.0Ghz(Prescott, SSE3) RAM: 2GB 667mhz Motherboard(I think that the problem is with this): MSI P6NGM (nvidia mcp73 (nforce)) Graphics: Integrated (Geforce 7100) I've got no ideas of where to go; I've also followed this guide and no going forward, no matter what I do, it wont even boot the installation. What I've tried so far: - Used SATA DVD and SATA HDD (Not Working) - Used PATA DVD and SATA HDD (Not Working) - Used PATA DVD and PATA HDD (Not Working) (Also used -x -v nforcekernel)(Tried them all apart and then at the same time and also once with -f too) I've tried burning all the distros in 4x and also full speed and that hasn't changed anything either. I've got no extra PCI cards other than a linksys WMPG54G(W-Lan) I would post a picture of the error, but when I press a key or add up the flags it just starts (loading nforce/mach_kernel, etc etc) and then 3 seconds later it restarts. Any help? frenetic1amnesic
@Mysticus Thank you for the help you've given over the past couple months. Without you, I would have given up on OSX a while ago... kinda. I give up on it a few times a month I probably should have saved a lot of time and effort by just buying a compatible motherboard, but that wouldn't have been as fun. Just wanted to let you know that I ditched my.... -Netgear WG111v2 -Broadcom WiFi -PCI Realtek NIC in favor for an Apple USB Ethernet Adapter, which has worked perfectly since I've bought it. I can use internet as much as I want, with both cores active, with 0 drops or freezing. I now have Leopard 10.5.2 working 100%. I could upgrade to 10.5.3 I guess, but I don't really see any need to. 10.5.4 just came out, but I probably won't go for that either Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87901-nforce-chipsets-how-to-install-leo-easy-and-fast-with-iatkos-v10i-r3-nforce-edition-or-kalyway-1052-dvd/page/64/#findComment-803769 Share on other sites

bodyboarding_bum
Im having a bit of trouble with my installation. I've got the kalyway 10.5.2 Intel/AMD DVD .iso that i downloaded and burnt off to dvd. I boot it up (at first was getting errors, but after reading up on it i swapped to my IDE drive and its all working now), and get into the installation. I go into the disk management and format my partition (20gb) to the Mac format (1st one on the list), then customise the instal options. I selected the nForce driver for my motherboard, and the nVidia graphics driver. The installation then checks the disk for continuity, and continues with the installation. It gets to 99% and comes up with an error, 'the installation cannot continue' and it says something about iphoto being different... I don't remember the exact error message, but its something like that. (or a similar 'iProgram'). Any suggestions?
