EDIT: damn forgot one more thing: you need to choose also IOPCIFamily.kext from 10.5.2 section ;) damn i forget so many things in a rush... hope you didnt go through the install process yet...

good luck...

@weekender: any lucky results?

@weekender: This has both versions of smbios file (you are gonna use only one of them, first try using default one -- mac.nub version, and if it still causes problem restart and use the netkas's option in the installer this time) that you need to use... make sure you go to customize window to check what you are installing... also, the installer first backs up your current one to a root folder named/created "backups"

How-to test:

First run the installer and install default smbios (macnub version)

Restart, and test your FCP to see if it runs fine?

If it doesnt run fine, run the installer and go to customize, and choose the netkas version and deselect the mac.nub which is default..

Restart and test your FCP again,

if it still doesnt work, that means you have some other problems on your system, either from bios or some additional old drivers causing conflict or whatever... you may need to post your system.log... so we can see what is going on...

Good luck and let us know the results...

Unfortunately it didn't work for me. I tried both smbios.

For each one of them I tried, I got the same result:

After successfully passing the booting Apple logo, the wallpaper loads (which is just a plain blue background), I can move my mouse cursor, but the desktop doesn't load (no icons showing up nor the dock and menu bar).

The only smbios that seems to work is the one I get when I install iAtkos.

;)

@weekender: it is strange, you have 10.5.2 right?, either one of the smbios should have worked... dont know the real problem, maybe you installed some other files as well? you said you tried many smbios before?... did you try anything else along with the smbios?

@breakind bad: before you go to installation process read my message above... i forgot to say one more thing... I think i messed up the installer earlier this morning in a rush... sorry mate, i m making a new installer, so dont install it yet, it will brick some stuffs :) this is my bad, if you did, sorry, you will need to reinstall osx :)...

I will also need IOPCIFamily.kext from drivers folder as well... in case...

I m revising the installer...

I just did a clean install of iAtkos + the Kallyway 10.5.2 update + the Graphic update from your guide.

I then installed Final Cut. Tried it and then as expected, it crashed at splash screen.

I then used your smbios installer and obtained the result I mentioned in the previous post.

Rebooted in Windows XP and replaced the macnub smbios with the old one (I use MacDrive).

Rebooted fine in Leo and then re-used your installer to install the netkas smbios and I then obtained the same result mentioned in the previous post upon reboot.

Good thing your installer did a backup because I totally forgot to backup my original smbios lol

@weekender: I m not really very sure what is causing the problem man, bcoz i dont use the program, but people say around that it is caused by the smbios... so it should have been ok however as you say it crashes... which i dont know why...

@breaking bad: send the IOPCIFamily.kext as well, pls, i forgot this file...

also, at this stage, i will recommend stg very usefull for you... :)

you created 2 osx partitions right?

if yes follow the guide below...

go to post#2 and follow the clone guide (How to copy your working partition to another HDD and make it bootable easily) up to 9th step, before doing that, send me the file :)

what you will do next is which i know u will like...

you will restart

and at press f8 screen, you will press f8, and it should show you options

if you named the partitions as osx1 osx2, you should have copied osx1 to osx2 now,

so using arrow key, choose osx2 which is your clone partition (aka test ground...) this partition doesnt have bootloader but osx1 has, so dont worry about bricking osx2 as it is test place... osx1 is there in case of disaster... got it?

anything wrong happens to osx2? just boot to osx1 again, and clone it again after erasing that partition... using disk utility's erase function...

@weekender: I m not really very sure what is causing the problem man, bcoz i dont use the program, but people say around that it is caused by the smbios... so it should have been ok however as you say it crashes... which i dont know why...

Well, the thing is that I can't even use a different smbios :) , maybe it's because I got a nforce board?

The smbios that comes with iAtkos must have been specifically rewritten for nforce I guess QQ

not really, since you did update to 10.5.2 it should have smbios from kalyway... i m not sure which one kalyway is using... (most likely netkas's old version?)

for you to manually try, i will upload those two files, but you will need manual fixing of the file as well... also keep the original smbios safe, otherwise you will be doomed :)

@breaking bad: I m waiting for you to send me the IOPCIFamily.kext, still... i guess i will finish the installer for you tomorrow... looks like you are gone..

In fact I have 3 partitions scheme - 1st: Leopard / 2nd: Backup / 3rd: Storage

@MYSTICUS:

I followed the steps in post#2 and got a little problem. Take a look here.

1002771bn6.th.jpg

And now the hole system got bad. It´s not booting.

I´ll reinstall the OSX tomorrow to get everything working again. :P

I´m just worried about the files, but I don´t think i´ll have any trouble. I have everything backed up in my pendrive.

Thanks Mysticus. I tried both of them and I still get the same problem as the ones with the installer you gave me.

Thanks again for your help, I think I'll just switch back to Tiger :P

I regret so much getting a nforce board!

This is kind of a weird question, but bear with me.

I'm really interested in the hackintosh scene, but I've been away from my PC for a while so I haven't really had the time or motivation to check in on what was happening for a long time. I also have an old N-Force motherboard (see my specs below). In fact, I haven't really been following it since the iAtkos v1.0i R3 patch was originally released.

My question: could somebody give me a quick summery of what I've missed since then (in the hackintosh scene in general, and specifically with iAtkos)?

@breaking bad: why is install failed screen? when did it happen? and what were you installing?

you just needed to follow the clone guide to step 9 not further...

and you needed to use leopard as source, and backup as target partition

than restart, and press f8, and choose back up partition and press enter...

it should have boot up with your r3

and send me the files i asked you?

i was gonna make a new installer (bcoz of missing files) and send it to you...

only then you will start installing something,

now what were you trying to install? just be patient...

@weekender: sorry not much help as i dont really know anything about the issue as i never needed to use that program...

@kilopopo: I explained the bad bios issue before, it is related to MSI products and some asus laptops... their bios has some funny stuffs which prevents new acpi and apic drivers to function well, however there is some pre-leo releases (i think 10.4.8 acpi and apic) that when installed, it allows msi or asus products to work fine in osx leo... until their bios's has been patched only solution is to use old acpi and apic... Kabyl is the only one i know who is helping people patching the bios...

@la-li-lu: is this kind of a joke question? do you have a servent here for you? why are you in the forums anyway? use search button, or go and read things...

Hi man.

I got that failed installation after going trought the cloning guide, but I think I did something wrong. Followed the step from the begginig. My fault.

I followed every single step straight and got that. But no worries, I´m going to make a fresh install of it again in a few moments.

I´m sending you the files again right now.

No need to rush. Just take your time. I´m a little busy right now.

When you get back in 3 hours, I´ll be rid of work and with a new Leo installation.

@breaking bad:

Now things to do once again...

1) install r3 clean...

2) once done, use disk utility and post#2 guide for cloning (TITLE: How to copy your working partition to another HDD and make it bootable easily) the working partition to step 9, no further, bcoz you dont need two bootloader... also make sure you understand step 5 source: leopard, step 6 destination:backup, as you have told me the names if they are correct... once this done, you will have an exact copy of your leopard partition minus bootloader, which you dont need as leopard partition has already one...

3) So restart after the cloning, press f8, choose backup, and start test partition for test... this way you will not need to boot to dvd and install again and again, instead, leopard is already there, just boot to it, and using disk utility, erase the back up partition, from erase menu, and continue to restore menu afterwards as you did in step 2 here... this will save you time, and also give you an idea about what to do before major updates...

why? because you have problem mobo, and if you dont get your bios fixed, you will have this bad bios issue, --maybe also this smc issue as well which seems to be new after 10.5.2 on your system... got it? if so, you got the idea about what to do later on your own... just need more practice...

4) OK now, you started off the BACKUP partition, and do followings:

a+ kalyway update, no restart

b+ install my new package as in my test guide (this is test package to figure out what will work, and what will not, by trial error which i will mention how to test at the bottom) no restart

c+ now install my gfx update (using default settings... dont nag about netkas kernel, it is not the one causing trouble, dont touch default settings, but add your nvinject and any other driver that are needed, also dont change suggested programs, kernel installer and kext helper)

5) now restart & pray... and wait patiently...

DOWNLOAD TEST PACKAGE

Here is What/How to Guide for step b+

I hope it is clear? and let me know if you dont understand any part?

Hi mate.

I´m downloading package now.

I made a fresh install and is working fine.

Now I´m going to clone it and make it bootable following the guide.

For sure I´m going to tell you every single detail from this installation. This one is a promissing one. ;)

I can say now that I´m a little bit familiar with OSX and I know how some things work, what I can and can´t do...

I have to thank you a lot.

Let me start the whole process here and in a few i return with news.

P.S. - Getting my little daughter to school now. ;)

breakind bad: where in my information i told you to continue further than step 9?

you dont go towards making it bootable!!!!

god sake...

you have leopard partition, which has bootloader, and will let you boot to backup...

you only need to make it bootable if you clone it to another hdd...

read carefully...!!! thats why i asked you to go to step 9 and not further! otherwise i would say follow entire guide...

I have this System.kext that really works with usb autodetection on 680i sli mobos with kalyway 10.5.2 installed

I hope this file will help anybody with this problem

System_Kext_9.2.0_Nforce.pkg.zip

hello mate, i already have an installer with all possible kernels and system.kext versions for 10.5.2 on the post#2 which mentions the problem and solution to it...

also when you post a file please provide information, because you are lacking lots of informations... to what causes the problem, and what will the file do? and why/when people will need this file?

@everyone: ignore the file above as the person doesnt provide any information regarding what the problem is (which I explained on post#2) how the file will help solve the problem... etc...

@Mysticus

Sorry bro, partitions are OK now. I made that mistake because I was in a rush.  But partition that was backed up boots fine.

When applying the SMC + Fix got a little error.

Take a look.

1002773tf5.th.jpg

Any idea of what could be?

I updated with Kalyway and when running the SMC + Fix package got that message.

i will check the script, and see what the error is... will update the installer again...

Edit: found the error, it was a typo error, when typing... :censored2: updated now, after kalyway if you didnt do anything yet? you can continue with the new file below after kalyway step...

if you restarted? you need to start fresh again...

Hi Mysticus.

I tried another few options but I got everything fresh again using restore option.

Quite nice this fact of erasing and writting again in a few minutes.

Going to try it tonight.

Thnx.

@Mysticus.

Hi mate.

News from the installation...

Installation goes fine... the installer works perfectly... but I had a little problem... when using the flags cpus=1 -v the system don´t boot.

It restarts using flag -v only and it hangs on that same screen of loading Kernel 9.2.0.

The only way to boot is using cpus=1 -v -x. I don´t know if it´s normal to be that way. And the screen shows little lines, seem to be "screen trash"... or something caused by teh opened windows from the system... don´t know what can be this lines.

Here are the pix.

Waiting for your knowledge to know what is happening...

C ya.

P.S. - This installation is on the test partition. So don´t nee to worry. Original one is intact.  Should I have to install bad bios patch before SMC fix or not necessary??? Tell me about it.
