when you check it let me know, these are cosmetic changes i m wrestling with bigger ones right now, damn update package has like 1 million scripts in it and separated to 10 million pieces... (well there are 40+ scripts ) i m trying to combine all of these into one place so that the reconstructed update package will be as much same as possible...

 

in the mean time, i will try to test it as well to see how it will respond, i did one original update and one reconstructed one in two partitions to compare if they will be same or any major changes?... will let everyone know when it is completed... of course if kalyway comes out earlier i may just remove the reconstruction and do it same as before...

I´m waiting on your 10.5.3 update. While it doesn´t come out, I´m downloading the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD as you told that the update may have problems with iATKOS R3 update to 10.5.2 with Kalyway ComboUpdate.

Update News: Repackaged the entire 10.5.3 update now will test some stuffs and will add additional drivers... no wishes as of now, so I will just add the same old stuffs back in place...

 

will try to gather some files in place, but dont expect much...

 

Tonight, if no error is produced by the repacked update package, i will wrap it up and make it available for testing as it is... more cosmetics will be done later...

 

(as i said before, old nvinjects wont work so no qe if you dont have gfx strings... also gfx strings is supported by efi_v8, sorry iatkos r3 dont have it, only way to get it is either manually install it, or make a clean iinstall of Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD right now...)

 

+ 10.5.3 Update works fine, all I need to do now is add every single packages (additional drivers/patches/kernels/ etc...) one by one to ensure all individual components works as well...

 

Tomorrow everything will be ready hopefully... (any wishes please come forward, I will make one last call tomorrow, and assemble the package and make a TRUMPET button for it...)

You really need to just try and then find out which one works for you. This thread is for nforce chipsets though, which you do not have. So aside from my post you will not recieve any help in here. I would go with the newest releases first, and work your way back until you find one that works. (Kalyway 10.5.2, leo4allv3, iatkos 2.0 are what you should start with).

I answered someone's nforce topic the other day and told him to read more... Been accused for being rude n patronizing... Then I became rude to to him... But he still doesn't understand, with his 2-3 day experience, acts like he knows how to solve things out talking nicely... What he doesn't know is nice talking is for nice n smart people... You write everything n he refuses to read it all, and tells u that guide doesn't work (in fact I ve seen many guys claiming that in this topic but they mostly didnt or don't read important parts...) Usually minor guidance solve the problems if u r not stupid=noob bcos newbies listen n learn where as noobs argue n refuse to learn n understand. That's why I said in my post#1 that many people come n go but not many of them are successful....

i saw his update package, he uses same method as i did say in my update guide in post#2

 

if you are desperate to download and see how 10.5.3 is, definetelly try kalyway 10.5.3

 

but if you want things to work correctly without breaking anything and make the system work as it was working before, wait patience is the key...

 

my update package is also coming... with everything in one piece including extras... just waiting a little while to see when nvinject working installer comes... because w/o nvinject most of you will be doomed in performance due to old nvinjects incompatibility with the current newer drivers...

 

so choice is yours...

 

just to let you know that 10.5.3 is not a WOOOOW type of update from the look of it... especially it looks funny because it dropped performace on my gfx card dramatically...

say 10.5.1 and earlier performace is 100 scoring in FPS tests

10.5.2 works 50% faster on my system at 150 (ati card) and 10.5.3 work 120-125 score... it s better than 10.5.1 before but worse than 10.5.2...

 

Also it changed all my hdd icons and etc... but funny that it worked with ich9 driver of its own with unknow identifier but at full speeds... so one good point for me as i m on intel chipset now...

 

dont forget the nvinject incompatibility... I m sure most of you dont even know what gfx strings, so you guys just may mess up the entire thing easily... so wait patiently... 10.5.3 is not a very very WOOOW factor update...

 

+ my current update package is ready, however I m delaying it because of driver issues for nvidia users (i know majority of you have nvidia cards) also nvidia drivers are all fixed for nforce which may be another issue when you use original update packages... (I dont know if kalyway fixed nforce issue in the nvidia vga drivers)

In fact Mysticus, I´m not worried about updating. I don´t even get familiarized with the 10.5.2 yet.

Just brought all that info about 10.5.3 update to inform ones that may look for that topic.

I´m still using 10.5.2 update from Kalyway on post #2 and I´m fine with that. I´ll only update to newer version when it´s safe and I know you´ll tell us all when is the good time to procced with the update.

One thing I learn here is that you have to wait till everything´s fine so you can take your step forward.

 

BTW, have you tested the NVKush? Do you believe it really works? Let us know.

right now you will see forum will be full of stupid posts about gfx card not working, system not rebooting, it happens after every major update... why? because there are too many SMART!! guys out there

 

it has been said billion times, that do not update the latest updates unless you know what you are doing... especially if you have incompatible (pacthed) drivers it usually breaks them and bricks your install (in fact it doesnt break nothing once you understand why these issues happen)

 

for this kind of situation, I advised almost everyone i think to make min 2 OSX partitions 1-main 2-backup/test partition... once you use my suggestion, you will understand how valuable it is to make changes in a dummy partition... because even if you brick it, you will still have main partition in one piece where everytg working and you have bootloader...

 

So patience is the key, and experience is a must... As long as you know what you are doing, and understanding what is happening, you will not brick anything... and fixing is always not very hard...

Read something about using NVinject via pacifist to get Nvidia VGA cards working QE/CI enabled after update. I´ll dig more about that.

thanks for the reply. Just realized its not in my sig, but I'm only running 2 gigs of ram, so that's not my issue. Working a bit more with this install, I'm realizing that the stability issues I'm having are not only related to copying files. Is there something else aside from the ram issue that would cause sporadic instability? I'm using nvinject with modified kexts for nforce compatability and to add my device id. Aside from that the only modified system files I have are medevil's sata kext, netkas' smbios, and a patched hda audio file. If you have any other ideas PLEASE let me know, I'm on the verge of biting the bullet and buying an intel chipset.

instability can be caused from many different issues including mobo's bios revisions... (but it is hard to track this theory as there are too many variety of mobos and people usually dont have enough knowledge to compare and share the information regarding this... but i m most definetely sure that bios revisions can be as fatal as below issues)

 

The ones that commonly happens in nforce chipst (as far as I remember) related to mainly two things:

 

1=) Network Cards if you use wrong drivers

a-) the most common one is On Board Lan enabled and used... There is a driver for the on board lan, however it is extremely unstable! it causes random freezes

b-) some other type of pci/usb nics: some chipsets/network cards combined with different programs like azureus bittorrent etc... have known to cause first network to fail, next mouse to act funny, and later freeze the system...

 

2=) 4gb or more ram + nforce chipset = definete freeze on large files access/working == this problem is caused by 64 bit compatibility (it happens in windows as well)

 

for the 1st problem, solution is check post#2 and get one of the usb adapters if you have wifi access (or also as mui said, usb ethernet by apple is known to work w/o issues)== I dont know any other solution, unless you know how to compile drivers by yourself?

 

for the 2nd problem, solution is leave the system with only 2gb ram physically, or use maxmem to do it...

 

@breaking bad: I know about nvinject using pacifist, stop telling about gfx related to stuff, I need solid information, you are still new, and your information will only confuse others... because the method in that topic, is to revert back to older drivers... to make nvinject work... this however is not the real solution, it is temporary, and still not good advice either... so just keep quite about gfx related stuffs unless you learn that nvinject v5 comes out? or gfx strings database for various cards/devices... other than that just keep quite, because there are many people itchy to do the update and try many suggestions w/o knowing what they are doing, and it will indeed confuse them more and cause more stupid topics to follow later...

 

Just wait quietly, until something solid comes out... ok?

Thanks for your updater. The installation was successful, but now Expose is really laggy. It isn't smooth anymore like before with 10.5.2 and it seems that the rendering is not correct, looks a bit pixelated. Did anyone else notice that problem?

Furthermore my VLC player crashes now when trying to play a 720p or 1080p movie. I think something went wrong with my graphics driver...

 

 

EDiT: There is definetly something wrong with my graphics driver. All graphical components like Expose or the screensaver Flurry are much slower as before the update. I checked the Nvinject320 again in the installer options, perhaps that was the mistake?!

I have reinstalled OSX using iatkos r3, and now when I boot, I get this message:

 

kextd[#]: iokitwaitquiet() timed out trying to write kernel symbols.

 

And then right after that:

 

InterfaceNamer timed out waiting for iokitwaitquiet to quiesce.

 

I've searched google, here, and at hackint0sh.org, and can't find the solution. I appreciate your help.

@bleeker: did you choose the old driver as well? because I have said it in my previous comments many times... if you read it of course...

 

right now, nvinject works only with old drivers... so you have to choose old drivers along with correct nvinject, if you didnt choose the old drivers, you need to run the update package, uncheck everything but the old driver... ok? that should solve your problem... until new nvinject comes out, you have to use old drivers, or learn to use gfx strings... otherwise QE is disabled, hence, no graphic acceleration... everything laggs... ok?

 

@Blue-K: it should work fine, as long as you choose correct stuffs...

 

@parm: sounds like you are having network driver issues... disable on board nic, if you didnt disable it yet, it is a bricker... I suggest you to get kalyway 10.5.2 and use that instead of r3...

 

@everyone: I will make guide for what has to be choosen, and what for, in the post#2 very shortly... but stress one thing out again... 10.5.3 UPDATE HAS BAD EFFECT ON NVIDIA CARDS WHICH ARE USING NVINJECT AS INJECTOR... GFX STRING WORKS FINE, BUT IT REQUIRES EFI V8 BY NETKAS, NO EFI V8 ON R3 SORRY... I SAID IT ALREADY EARLIER... IF YOU WANNA GET HARDWARE ACCELARITION BACK ON UNTIL FIXED NVINJECTS COMES OUT, YOU NEED TO CHOOSE OLD DRIVERS+NVINJECT IN THE NVIDIA SECTION TEMPORARILY. ONCE FIXED NVINJECT COMES OUT, I WILL MAKE AN ADDITIONAL GFX INSTALLER UPDATE TO GET LATEST DRIVER BACK ON AGAIN... OTHERWISE YOUR GFX CARD WILL LAG... MAKE SURE EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS THIS, I SAID IT ALREADY SINCE I STARTED THE UPDATE PACKAGE INFORMATION/PROJECT.... PLEASE PAY SOME RESPECT AND READ SOME PREVIOUS MESSAGES...

 

Last but not least, PLease use this update package as testing, on another partition rather than your main working one, otherwise if anythig goes haywire, you may need to reinstall everytg all over again...
