muitommy
calm down, if you're going to head this board keep a level head. I'm asking about this SPECIFIC motherboard, most of the posts here involve asus mobos or the 680i nForce by ECS and others. I have read the first two pages, and specifically there is nothing about MY mobo. I have tried quite a lot, including MANY kernels and looked over other forums to see if there were problems. So IF you have this mobo and have had a successful install using this DVD let me know your method. I KNOW others have installed with nForce chipsets, but THIS one in particular. Thanks for the help, and sorry mysticus if you misunderstood my intentions. Refrain from saying you hate someone, its not worth it to taint your post: its a wonderful guide. Thanks why not just go ahead and try to install? although i cant assure anything, but your mobo should work. Mysticus C*
calm down, if you're going to head this board keep a level head. Thanks for the help, and sorry mysticus if you misunderstood my intentions. Refrain from saying you hate someone, its not worth it to taint your post: its a wonderful guide. Thanks Thats the reason why you have to try it yourself, if you have already done what I said to you, you would have installed and running your osx by now. But instead you are using a lazy approach. After the lazy approach you are using a smart a$$ approach. The title says NFORCE CHIPSET, it doesnt state 680i or ecs or asus or bla bla bla... If you have read through all the pages for example, you would understand 99% of the time, people are able to install OSX on NFORCE chipset... If you read post#1's introduction speech part's first 3-4 sentences, you will understand why I hate people like you... and I still do... Once in a while, a smart a$$ comes around, try to be a real smart a$$... I bet you didnt even do a searh at all? Even most noobs ask question how/where do i get iatkos to test or sort of questions.... Smart a$$ people asks "is it gonna work on my system". As people should know if it is gonna work or not... It is all about testing and finding out yourself, and have fun with it. But your second paragraph even proves more lazines in you. You wanna do everything least painfully, w/o trial error by yourself first to able run osx, not in the intention of learning something... Lazy and smart a$$... If you read through everything I said, you will understand why I hate people like you... UPDATE NEWS TO ALL: Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD's Trumpet Button Completed and Added finaly to the "Alternative Install Method on Nforce by Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD" title on post#2 Please do not ask questions like "are there gonna be alternative trumpet buttons/locations?" answer is "NO" so please respect that and do not ask... Mysticus C*
you are gonna have some trouble, you must have done stg wrong, blinking cursor = no bootloader installed... u sure u choosed correct stuff? and you partitioned your hdd correctly? correct partitioning on 80gb hdd if it is only for osx? run the dvd for installation again + after initial screen, go to utilities/disk utility + choose 3 partitions scheme and make sure u choose MBR from options menu + name the partitions short and easy names... e.g: osx1 osx2 share + osx1 is 25gb and for main installation osx2 is 25gb and for backup/restore/test systems, and share is the rest left for windows/mac sharing (u will understand how helpful it is later) + osx1 is journaled, osx2 journaled, share dos/fat32 partition + and finaly click partition button and once finished, close teh window and continue to install guide on post #2 my suggestion is not to choose any driver on this stage but it is up to you choose any driver for your system... make sure you follow the guide for main stuffs to be choosen!!!! do not change the main selection to your desire... else hard to keep track of errors people do by their own selections... + lastly continue to update for 10.5.2 on post#2 and choose correct drivers... *UPDATE Install went fine, i'm getting the blinking cursor so i'm downloading UBUNTU live so i can use GParted to set the partition as Active. CtodaG
Hi, I got the Kalway 10.5.2 disc to work using Mysticus C's new guide for Kalway (late) in post 2. The only things not working, is onboard LAN and onboard Sound. Luckily i have an extra LAN installed and an external SB! Live USB soundcard, which both worked perfect. I can give furher impressions after a while, just need to play around a bit, since I am pretty new OS X. Also installed Ubuntu 8.04, and i am currently using Grub boot loader, which also works quite well. I had some problems booting in to OS X when i used the iATKOS method, seemed like the bootloader didn't load or something, i just got a blinking cursor (tried installing both bootloaders), but with the Kalway instalation it worked just fine. bl33k3r
I installed iAtkos R3 without any problems with that guide, the only thing I had to change was, that I needed to install the DARWIN Bootloader...EFI didn't work. Mysticus C*
installation should not take 3h unless you have an extremely bad dvd rom, or non-recognized pata/sata controller... since you have the same mobo as me, I am assuming, it is dvd read issue, caused by either dvd rom itself, or dvd media... normal install should not take more than 10mins and at max 15mins... one possibility that your bios settings have been fingered? sata operation mods changed? but whatever the reason, as long as you are happy to be able to run osx at the end, it is ok... off topic= also check my signature for your ipod touch i have a custom pwned firmware that is jailbreaked already, all you need to do is download the rar files, extract the firmware, and restore using itunes, thats all... no fingering with any other software... just follow my guide on the post linked to my signature... jofman101190
Well Mysticus it's a no go, i installed again and no luck: Let me describe what i did Booted from the dvd using -v, everything was fine, didn't recognize USBEHCI but that's a known problem. It went to the "click this button to continue screen" I cicked the button, then before clicking continue i partitioned the SATA HD in this format: 1 partition 40GB HFS+ Journaled named "Mac HD" 1 partition 36.9GB MS-DOS named "Vista HD" On options i set it to MBR, then I partitioned the Hard Drive I Quit the Disk Utility, and then hit continue. Chose the "Mac HD" to install on, clicked next, clicked customize and clicked on everything that was shown on post #2. The EFI bootloader, the NO-HPET SSE3 nForce kernel, remove powermanagement kernel, and Remove Thermal Kexts. I Chose the two options on the bottom about the tempmonitor and the other thing. THE ONLY CHANGE was that i added the NVinject 256 driver, it was the one that worked with the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD Install was fast, about 10 minutes, and then the restart your computer appeared. I Hit restart, and like always t showed it the display that said synching disks, then done, then MACH_REBOOT. My computer has never restarted after an instal, but i restart it manually after i see the MACH_REBOOT message and it's worked. So i restarted it, and it got to the loading from cd drive, i had already taken my cd out and the next place to boot from is THAT HD, then it went to the blinking cursor... Loaded GParted and made the MAC HD the active partition, checked the volume and things were indeed installed on it. Rebooted and still the blinking cursor. I know it's not the EFI bootloader, because the EFI emulation worked with the Kalyway 10.5.2 and the boot time was fast. Should i perhaps burn the DVD again? Or is this a known problem that has a solution? I'll of course keep working on it, but if you have advice Mysticus i'd appreciate it Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87901-nforce-chipsets-how-to-install-leo-easy-and-fast-with-iatkos-v10i-r3-nforce-edition-or-kalyway-1052-dvd/page/46/#findComment-734407 Share on other sites
