definitely not lol....i didnt install lan drivers for this installation only for my 300N airlink pci card. *drivers from railink*

installed on ide drive

when does the panics happen usually? and did you disable the on board lan? and what driver are you using for your gfx card?

mostly while i have a couple of apps open and running...such as messengers, browser and itunes. And nope i havent, never have disabled the lan...Probable solution? And im using the driver in the customize option of the graphics update posted here. Everything appears to be fine with it, full QI/CE. It also took me around 7 or 8 times to install the adobe design premium suite with no other programs running due to kernel panic as well. Im thinking its cpu related...I just baught a quad core q9300 have yet to put it in, thinking or purchasing a fully compatible motherboard. Suggestions?

there are many gigabyte models around for (almost) perfect installations, and quite future proof... just read around the forum... you will see some.. all with intel chipsets of course...

@compluva: erase your partition or if possible get a seperate hdd, and do a complete new partitioning from disk utilities on it, with mbr scheme... and install with the MUST HAVE selections, I mentioned in the guide, do not choose any gfx card or network card! Do not make your own judgement regarding the must have selections I showed in the guide!!!! choose exactly same things as on the guide!

Your problem I can think of right now is with in correct partitioning and wrong selections, since I see you are doing your own mix n matches and cant tell your partitioning...

good luck...

ok. just btw. i edited that post and told you that i just tried out that mix and match settings {censored} and aftr seeing it didnt work, i appeneded the thread and told you that i saw it did not work, and i continued to use the recomended settings.

11) Check the boxes as seen on the Picture. and once finished Click DONE

Note: My Cpu was SSE3 and I chosen the NForce SSE3 Kernel if you have SSE2 only CPU, than change your kernel to NForce SSE2 Kernel instead. Also As you can see, I have not chosen any Drivers, it is up to you at this point to choose whatever DRIVERs you want/need. I have not tested the DRIVERs that I do not have devices for. Only one I can confirm is Realtek 8139 is working great with my Sweex LC001 NIC

and also, i did follow your post number 2, and the bolded section makes it slightly confusing. If were not supposed to add our own drivers and such, you should probabley change the description of that step to say that. I'd bet you's get a lot less of us complaining for that problem.

as far as partitioning. i thought i could handle that part, but i was obviously wrong. ill search on the forums and report back after i have fixed the issue.

if any of this sounded like it was condescending, it was not meant that way, i just wanted to clear up a few things.

Thanks for all the support and help. I, and im sure everyone else, really appreciate it.

i just realized that you have 2 gfx cards... you need to remove one of them in order to get rid of the kernel panics, but first kernel panic you showed on the pics before was result of not removing the intelcpupowermanagent... now i also see you have 2 gfx card which means taht sli mode or two cards are not working on 8x series i guess, i might be wrong, but didnt see any dual card driver, or dont know if dual cards are supported by these drivers or nvinject... good luck...

Ok guys... I became pretty interested in this MacOSx86 hobby a while back, but was too intimidated to try it. After a ton of reading and watching a lot of videos and a lot of installing attempts I am proud to say that my iAtkos R3 install is now working 100% fine. I want to thank Mysticus for a great guide! I think it took me about 30 different installs with Kalyaway Leo4All and various other discs until I found and followed this guide to a T. Thanks to everyone and this site!

welcome aboard mate...

all fixed up. just a shade under 10 installations, too.

After i removed the second gfx card, all went fine. whenever i put it back in however (even if its not sli'd and there are no monitors plugged into it) it goes into a kernel panic on startup :[.

Sound works, single video card works with dual monitors, and im still working on the ethernet. Im going to try to get this onboard working, but i may just end up buying one.

Any suggestions on a purchased nic?

you guys think i could use one of those usb network adapters?

by the way, thanks for all the help mysticus. MUCH appreciated.

read post#2 for nic card, your answer is in the very beginning part under frequently reported problems... (this is one of the reasons i get annoyed and angry, people dont read properly...

10 installations is not necessary, only thing you need to do is remove the gfx card, it will work all the time...

on board nic to work is a dream right now...

good luck...

ok, progress!

I got to the part of the installation where it told me i had to restart by holding down the power button, so i did, i removed the disc like it said, and then i let it boot off the correct partition. It looked liek it was going ok, until it displayed the same message that i saw on the installation asking me to restart my system by holding down the power button for a few seconds. i plugged in a ps/2 keyboard to get the installation options command line and booted with -v.

it displayed a plethora of messages in a rapid fire type method and stopped on

ideas?

EDIT:

Heres pictures

this is what it gets stuck on in the command line:

and this is what it got stuck on while it was booting

cheers!

If you are using ToH's non-hpet kernel, you have to use boot flag "cpus=1"

hey guys, been reading on here for a while, just registered though. I have tried installing osx86 leopard a few times now, but no luck. I was wondering if i could get some help.

My spec is as follows:

Aspire 5920g

  • Processor: Core 2 Duo T5450 @ 1.66GHz
  • nVidia 8600M GT
  • 2GB Memory

I have looked on the wiki, and seen that my laptop is listed there to be working with Leopard. Here is the link to that info:

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...es#Aspire_5920g

If someone could help me with what install medthod i should use? On the wiki it says Kalyway 10.5.1 w/EFI. I assume this is just a plain install with the Kalyway DVD i have got? Or should i add in some patches? If so, could you help me with that? The other reason i am posting in this thread, is as its to do with the nVidia cards. As you can see i have got a 8600m GT. So should i be using the iAtkos v1.0i r3 instead?

On previous installations i have got mac installed, but when it comes to loading it up, the apple screen freezes after a little while. I have been told this is due to the graphics card. So i presume i would need a driver in installation to get it working? Thankyou for reading, sorry its so long! Just really wanna try get this sorted.

@envying: if you read the screen that error was caused by not removing intelcpupowermanagement... he fixed that now...

@mimminito: you are on the wrong thread, your nvidia card has nothing to do with this thread apart from having nvidia gfx card... this is not a gfx install topic... nforce is the chipset, not gfx card... your problem is most likely, you didnt read enough amount of topics around... kalyway should work on your system, if you do it correctly, and there are some acer topics, so go learn to search first before you post something in any topic...

@kdoe: your problem is you didnt read the post#2 as any newbie jump on hackintosh bus, but doesnt like to read a word!.... I hate people jump to last page and start posting... read the topic's title! and read the post#2 carefully!!!! also do not attach the pics, upload them to somewhere else and post the links...

HEH, Mysticus

On the screenshot, I can see he was using ToH's kernel not Nforce kernel we are using. ;)

Hi

I get the follwing screens when I use the ToH x86 rc2 release and it takes about 45 min between the screen to appear at the first screen I get a lot of EBIOS READ ERROR and it happened on 2 dvds that I made and then get stuck on the second screen command line

then I get the following screen with the kalyway leo sse2 sse3 & iatkos r2 relsease

I have no idea what to do and I am stuck a those screen does anyone knows what might be casuing it and if there is a fix for them.

1) yes you are correct, but the error on the screen mainly indicating that intelcpupowermanagement existed... meaning it has not been removed... the error mainly was bcoz of the intelcpupowermanagement... if kernel problem and gfx problem didnt existed it (cpu power management) would still cause the error...

2) afterwards, you need to look for kernel, and gfx card... if you read my answers and his posts, he installed main stuffs, and his main issue turned out to be having 2 gfx card... i dont know two gfx card/sli supported by the drivers or if there is any dual card/sli support nvinject or natit for it?? i guess not...

@kdoe: read my post above I have written for you earlier before u deleted your own message... read the post#2!!! there is crucial information on the very beginning of post#2...

@Mysticus sorry about the mishap it's that I have been trying for about 3 weeks to do this now

some install goe fine all the way to the account creating screen in osx then I get a continous loop and this time it's not even installing.

sorry i got the wrong thread, ill try searching again, as i have been doing for the past 3 days! i have search for acer threads, and threads on my gfx card, but all i get is people asking the same question i am asking, what method and install options do i need. ill look again, but any help is appreciated, if you cant help dont worry, dont reply, if you can, reply. thankyou

read my PM...

this is a iatkos r3 topic, so read my PM, and after that if iatkos r3 doesnt work, report problems, but make sure you understand what the pm says!!!! I wont answer anymore of your questions, if you still dont read/understand my PMs i posted you earlier (3 times now I think)...

@jaev: good luck...

@mimminito: get Kalyway DVD, you have most likely intel chipset, but before you start installing any osx, you must learn partitioning on your system bcoz you are most likely trying to dual boot on one hdd config...

small update/fix news:

I searched around and bumped into some topics about USB not mounting issue... figured that there are two solutions to this...

1) one running an auto script at boot

2) having match the system.kext and kernel's versions

solution to 2nd one is easy: if you update to 10.5.2 using my update package and not changing the default selections (system.kext and netkas sleep kernel). Because both of these files matches same versions... no wonder i never have the issue :laser: (also note that kabyl's kernel should match the system.kext version as well i think)

for the first one... solution takes a bit of time to play around, and not 100% guaranteed it looks like

check this topic for how-to

please report back the success/failure

I have tried several releases of Leopard: ToH, Kalyway 10.5.1, iATKOS 1.0i r3 so that I could get all four cores to work with my nforce 650i motherboard.

Installing the leopard releases worked fine and with using nforce kernels found in IRC I was able to boot all 4 cores without the cpu=1 limit. The problem is after a while using leopard with all 4 cores working I get lock ups and mouse problem. Either the system totally freezes and becomes unusable or mouse cursor problem occurs. The system is still running but mouse cursor would not move or it lags. When I move the mouse to one direction the mouse cursor moves in a different direction.

I experience these problems when I boot with all 4 cores enabled. Does anyone of you able to boot with all 4 cores and not get these wierd problems? If so what Leopard release did you use and what kernel did you also use?

Also if you guys used some patching or changed som e extension let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Try a different NIC?

@kilopopo: like envying said, try a different NIC, bcoz on some nforce chipsets, older network drivers with older cards causes this problem... no real fix for that right now... there are two wireless NICs i mentioned on the post#2 if you read it carefully... they are the only ones at the moment works perfect with the leo installations... w/o droping network or causing freeze or slaggish performance at times...

DvP and some other guys got new NICs and they never had the same problem again...

good luck...

I've sorta asked help on this earlier but I didn't entirely follow up on it. The pages on this topic seem to add on every day heh.

I'm having problems with the network.

Is there anything wrong with a Broadcom wireless chipset? My card is a PCI Buffalo with Broadcom chipset. BCM4318.

It's not mentioned in your first post, as far as I can tell, yet it still gets the network freezes and all that fun stuff.

edit: {censored} I just saw your above post, and that probably means anything besides the linksys and netgear usb sticks don't work?

I have a spare WG111v2, and most places I look, I think it has the same RTL8187 chipset. Yet, I cannot get it to work by installing the drivers in your update package.

just a stretch, hoping to see if the card i already have might work

Any help is appreciated.

v2 and v3 uses different chip on them... one of them is 8187L i think and the other 8187B dont be confused... otherwise it would work with the drivers...

check here the driver address of the other chip, download and install see if it helps with yours...
