I've got an itch to try out that ATI driver... ...maybe I'll start looking at what's up on the ATI site and see what I can come up with.
Anything I can do to help? I have done Linux development but not on osx.Alex
@AlexImpossible??!! I doubt that, if a driver can be created for Windows and Linux, one can be created for OSX. It may be harder than a card that has dedicated RAM, but I can't believe it would be impossible.
Brotha:I soooo agree with you. Hell there is an ATI AND an Intel shared memory graphic driver for QE/CI, there must be a way to do this for Nvidia. How, though, do we convince the developer of nvkush that it is possible.Alex

hi, im quite new here, and i have a question.. im gonna be trying this next week when i get my tx2120us.. and im planning on dual booting vista with osx.. my question is do i still need a vista installation disk to fix the boot order after my initial installation? or will pressing F9 to choose a hard drive during boot be enough?

and if there's some info that is tx2120us specific, then please do inform me, thanks! :thumbsup_anim:

@sicgamer

AFAIK you won't need the Vista Disk (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong). I would make the HP recovery disk set before you start messing around though. This will take around 6 hours depending on your system configuration.

@all

No luck thus far with the ATI Drivers, but I'm still plugging away...

thanks dude!

why wont they stcky this thread? it's too helpful not to be stickied.. could it be because it's not yet 100% in running osx..?

Hi guys!

It's my pleasure to join this really succesful thread.

I've been around for about a year trying to get OSX running perfect, first on my dv6220la. I had some luck with the isos that were around at that time, mainly wiht Uphuck universal... But my lappy died on october, I sent it to hp and around december they gave me back a brand new hp pavilion dv6420la.

For what I've seen its almost the same thing than tx series, except for the touchscreen.

Before I happily end to this thread, I've lived around the dv6000 & dv9000 series thread, but there have not been any advances since moths ago.

Now, let me tell you that I want to thank you so much for solving the screen resolution issue, wich I'd never been able to solve until now. I will spread the news to our dv6000 fellas so we can all move on to work on QE/CI thing.

Right now, I can tell you that using Leopard_AMD_EFI_r2, as well as using Leo4allv3 on my dv6420la I get the same results:

I can install on external usb hd.

I can single boot on internal drive.

I can dual boot with Windows or Ubuntu.

I can triple boot OSX, Windows and Ubuntu.

Keyboard & touchpad work out of the box.

Webcam works out of the box.

Power managment works out of the box. (installing patch on leo4allv3 customize window)

Sound works out of the box. (with azalia audio driver)

Resolution change available (with the solution provided by you guys!!! ;) )

Using forcedepth-v driver, my ethernet port is detected and it also make my modem start working, but I can't make it stablish connection. With the nforce-ethernet driver provided by the_29 it wasn't seen by OSX.

No QE/CI

I can tell you tath right now the only thing I really need to solve to be happy is Wifi...

My dv6420la has a Broadcom 4312 wireless card, so i think its the same case as yours.

Now, I've noticed some strange behavior at this point:

Leopard_AMD_EFI_r2 did recognized my wifi card at the installation & after installing, but didn't found any networks.

Leo4allv3 did see my networks during installation, but not after install succeded and booting in OSX installed.

I've heard that most of you have wifi & ethernet working out of the box, so I would appreciate if you tell me if there's some trick or any driver/patch I must select from installation.

I know you use leo4allv2 but, for some reason that one never boots on my system, and when it does i have no keyboard or mouse working. I'm downloading it again right now so soon I will try with a new leo4allv2 disc.

Also, I wonder what webcam does the tx has, cause I always get it working perfect with no effort and I just read someone here doesnt. Mine is recognized by Ubuntu as "ID 0c45:62c0 Microdia"

Finally, I wish to tell you something I found out.

To get screen resolution to 1280x800, I installed the kexts provided by the_29 with kext helper, and removed IONDRVSupport kext as adviced. I worked well and i got my native resolution. But audio stopped working. So I reinstalled IONDRVSupport and azalia audio kexts and I have now right screen resolution as well as audio working!

Well, thanks again for this little gem of yours! (screen resolution)

I'll stay with you to report anything that I find, and help on anything I can.

@TheOne

Glad to hear we could be helpful to you! It appears the webcams on the tx2000 series lappy's don't work. Mine is a Suyin Cam, in System Profiler I get the following...

Version: 1.00

Bus Power (mA): 500

Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec

Manufacturer: SuYin

Product ID: 0xa110

Serial Number:

Vendor ID: 0x064e

Let us know how you get along with the Leo4Allv2 disk, you will probably have to press F9 on boot to select your Optical Drive to boot from to get the Leo4Allv2 to boot up. Other than that, Good Luck!!!

Well... I think I was almost there...Too good to be true, lol :P So, finally I got a new Leo4allv2 dvd.This one did boot on my laptop, I installed Leopard to my hd again, and...SURPRISE!This time, Wifi did work perfectly!I was so happy, so I instantly made the resolution change thing, and started installing every program I need.After like 2 hours of usage, my laptop shut down by itself... :blink: I realized battery was empty, and OSX didn't show the power icon on the menu bar.So, I also remembered that Leo4allv3 had PowerManagement kext on the list of installing options, but Leo4allv2 didn't.Quickly I plugged in power, started OSX and grabbed my Leo4allv3 disk. I extracted PowerManagement kext and installed it.So, here's the strange thing:At restart, power icon was there, but I had lost my keyboard and touchpad!!!!I plugged in my usb mouse, and I noticed that WiFi was gone too. It was just like it used to happen with Leo4allv3, I had WiFi on but it didn't show networks.I rebooted a few times, and they never came back, I even reinstalled applePS2 kext, and it didn't work...So now, I guess maybe powermanagement kext is the one that screws up wifi network finding...What do you think guys?I'm gonna make a clean install to get things working again. I also feel like trying with Leo4allv3 and don't install power management to see if it makes WiFi work like I think...Well, that's my report. Now I may be a little busy fixing things around here.

So, you don't have a Microdia webcam... that must be the problem, cause mine worked perfectly also with this Leo4allv2 install...And yes, actually almost every OSX install disk I've tried needs that I make a device selection to boot, otherwise it goes on a loop.Well, one more thing about my recent problem... At the time that I installed PowerManagement I also installed VMWare Fusion... Normally I won't expect a program could screw things, but on my later reboots when things were wrong, I noticed that at verbose mode a lot of new lines appeared.They where about some VMNet drivers initializing and stuff...So I think they were there because of VMW Fusion.Do you think VMWare Fusion could be the one that screwed things?

@TheOne

Download the tx1000 pack from The29 and install the Power Management bundle in that. That should fix your Power Management issue. Also, I did not have very good luck with VMWare Fusion, it made my OSX install very unstable. I don't know if it's just because Fusion is not a "good" product yet, or if there is some underlying issue with the Hackintosh OSX Install.

hey can i ask what software you guys have been successful on running? i'm a digital artist so i use most of adobe's products.. would those work?

i wont be using mac all the time, but i just thought it would be nice if i can use some good software on mac once in a while.. thanks.. ;)

hello guys i would like to say my tx1000 is now upgraded to 10.5.3 via ASU

i would like to start by saying the audio kexts dont work the only thing that did work was video had to boot it like 30 time untill this morning it woorked in safe mode

What do you mean your video worked? just the rez or full compatibility with Q/E?

and please link to thread with the 10.5.3 upgrade, one of the main things I use on mac needs that update and has become unstable because of it.

dunno if I want to upgrade on the tx1000 tho, dont want to loose my sound and webcam, I just managed to finally get everything to work enough to where I can talk to my fiance again while she is away. being able to use cam and remote connections is the most important to me.

that and being able to remote connect to her's and my laptops with my phone.

@all:

Well, I've just confirmed ehat I suspected yesterday:

On hp Pavilion dv6420la you will get Wifi working by installing Leo4allv2.

Once you do this, if you install PowerManagement.bundle to get the battery icon on the menu bar, you'll loose your Wifi, and you'll loose keyboard and touchpad, so DONT INSTALL PowerManagement.bundle.

@Alex de Wolf:

I can succesfully boot with power plugged, as well as with battery only.

Well on my HP TX 1250 ea everything works fine with the powermanagement bundle from my package!

And if you have no BIOS Bug #81 (or 86, dunno, search in thread) then you can boot without plugged in!

This is a result of a stupid ACPI implementation!

bump

and why am i seeing the posts as a list?

and can anyone answer my question about software that runs good on tx2000? thanks

At the top of the thread, you can see the topic's name, at the right side you can read "Options", click on that and at the bottom you will see Display modes, select the one you like.

I cant answer your other question since I dont have a tx2000

@sicgamer

I run Office 2008 with no issues. VMWare Fusion gave me nothing but problems, I may try Parallels later on. Other than that, I don't run much on there. If there is something you would like me to try, and I can download it for free let me know, I'd be happy to try it for you.

how about neooffice? and photoshop cs3 or painter or maybe gimp? does the tablet perform the same as it would in windows (except for the calibration)? only if you have a copy(and time) though.. i'll be getting mine in a few days anyway, so i can just try them out myself..
