prettyby7
Hi, did you build Extensions.mkext ? Do you mean resetting the permissions? I used kext utility to redo the permissions. Still KP when I choose to boot from the SL HD.
A
... Seems like 10.6 works fine for me. VoodooHDA (64bit version) works, LAN works (using a PCI card, like I did before anyways). Onboard Firewire works, Restart and Shutdown works. There is a method for sleep which involves some DSDT editing by zhell - which I did not try yet - I gave up on sleep since leopard. A few quirks are still to solve: - I can see only one of my other internal drives- (I might have to play around with my bios /sata ports) - seems like I am getting mouse skips (nothing new to me) when booting the 64bit kernel using -x64 - unknown CPU type with , 3,8 GHz (Cpu-x reports the right type) P5K, Q6600, 8800GT, Apogee Duet... stevehelstrip
Hi Forum people, having a spot of trouble installing OS X retail, using this method. Basically, when boot-123 starts to load from the retail disc the system restarts without any notice. I have installed a new SATA drive to install to, which has been partioned and formatted in Windows with NTFS. Please can someone offer any advice? Cheers lads and lasses! bignogin
Im trying to use this guide but my VGA card is a HD4850 ATi. Whenever i apply update and run P5K-Family_10.5.8.pkg and reboot. Everything looks like it wants to load but then I get artifacs on screen and it just sits like that. Im assuming I am doing something wrong with VGA install on the step for UInstaller.app I leave native resolution and VGA card unchecked. I even tried to reboot after running the UInstaller.app step and reeboot works fine using 123cd and typing in 80. ITs when I apply the amily_10.5.8 and reboot that system crashes Any help would be great thanks well it boots into safemode

Wallymc
Interesting, tell us if it still works! And if shutdown/restarts after sleep Hi, Yes it works fine here. Only the restart after sleep doesnt work with my external hard disk. Without it, it is working properly. But Well this I've always had. Whether this is the hard disk or the driver I do not know. The hard drive remains also enabled and powered on as the computer is off. Weird thing Gr Wally
Reniro
Hi ! i need some help I managed to install 10.5.8 and 10.6 ... did that with 2GB of 800mhz Ram. Now i bought 2x2GB 1066mhz RAM to have a faster system .... They are recognized in my Bios (with 1066mhz) but 10.5.8 and 10.6.0 wont boot. Bootloader appears.... then it stops at the grey Screen with Apple-Sign. But no "loading-sign" appears and the HDD LED on the PC-Case is not working, what could it be ? ViniciusMaran
Jimmy, do you have any problems to use your vga in 10.6 with gfx strings ? Here if i try to use gfx strings, my screen turns black after boot (with no KP, no messages ) If you have sucess, can you post your gfx string ? I've tried with UInstaller, OSX86 tools, with 9800gtx strings, custom strings, but nothing changes. My video card is the same as yours.

Jimmy Mallmann
Hi, do as Reniro says, use UInstaller.app and choose "custom nvidia", that should do the job! ViniciusMaran
Jimmy, i' tried that but no sucess I tried to use gfxutil method, uinstall (with custom and standard strings), osx86 tools, custom nvcap strings with nvcap maker 1.4, switch the video card port. But nothing different happens. When i use a device string at com.apple.Boot.plist, my screen turns black and nothing happens
Jimmy Mallmann
That happens when you use the /Extra folder, if you use /Extra folder, copy or move the com.apple.Boot.plist to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ and clear the area devoted to the EFI String... Then run UInstaller.app again (in the case you have 2 com.apple.Boot.plist, and the modification you are applying to is not going to the right one) If it is not your case, open the com.apple.Boot.plist and clean it (remove the modifications), then apply EFI String using UInstaller.app. Good Luck Jimmy, i' tried that but no sucess I tried to use gfxutil method, uinstall (with custom and standard strings), osx86 tools, custom nvcap strings with nvcap maker 1.4, switch the video card port. But nothing different happens. When i use a device string at com.apple.Boot.plist, my screen turns black and nothing happens Install only one of them, then configure your system, then poweroff and install the other, be sure the slots are clean! Good Luck, also, try getting the Qualified Vendor List for your mobo and check if your memory fits in it!
