Airport Extreme, BT is Bluetooth

Oh, and who wants sthe 3,1 EFI Firmware?

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/fir...rationcd15.html

2,1 Firmware is also available with V 1.4, I'll have to see if I can screw up upgrading my firmware so it'll allow me to use the upgrade CD...

Or better yet, anyone here have any idea how to upload the firmware, do a forced flash or whatever? It looks like if we screw it up, we can restore it with these CD's....

Thanks Listed1st.com, so do you plug them into the bluetooth and airport boards? Also what Heat sinks shall i get as i am shortly goping to buy 2 INTEL XEON 5150 2.66GHz CPU chips and am i correct by saying they do not come with heatsinks?

Also what is a power processor module? Do i need one?

Many Thanks Hally

Yes, they are for the AP and BT modules.

They most likely will not come with heatsinks, buy the ones listed earlier in this thread (can't remember which model) But you'll need to make the temp sensors out of the transistors (simple) unless you buy apple heatsinks.

Don't buy the 5150's! You're just throwing your money away! If you wanted a low powered mac, you could do what I did and get a MP 2.66GHz quad core for $1600 with 2GB ram and 250GB HDD. If you're going to make one, make an 8-core!

Get these CPUs: http://cgi.ebay.com/Pair-Intel-Xeon-E5345-...1QQcmdZViewItem

That or heck, I've got a pair of 2.66GHz 8-core's that I'd part with for a good price...

And finally, a power processor module is most likely a part needed in systems like blade servers and such, Mac's don't use those....

:-D

From me!

Or ebay, there's a ton available on there:

He's got more than that as well....

Where from Listed? I was looking at Dual Cores to make a Quad Core machine and the price came close to £450, around $900 (US)

I saw a brand new one on ebay.com about a week ago which sold for £180 ex delivery and custom charges to the UK. So proberly would of cost around £250 inc postage.

Just keep searching the newely listed Mac Pro items both on ebay.com and ebay.co.uk

One should come up shortly

Well that's not too bad! What exactly did you search for on eBay? I usually have no luck with my searches lol

I think a Hackintosh might work out cheaper until I can get some more money.. hmm..

I've got a prototype board with memory crad risers, 1GB of Ram, Power supply and all the cables to hook to power supply up, as well as the hard drive power and data cables and the cd drive power and data cables I'd let go for a good price, Cause GBP are huge compared to USD$$$! I can even throw in some home made (thanks nagal!) thermal sensors and some 2U size heatsinks (Work fine, but the fans are LOUD cuase they need a ton of airflow)....

I don't know if anyone remembers this far back in the thread but Nagals cat was "inspecting" the Mac Pro. Well, in the spirit of "lolcats" I decided to make Nagals cat a Lolcat picture XD

And Listed, I sent you a message about your stuff for sale! Name me a price in Dollars, ok? =]

Guys... some promising news. I just received a voice mail from apple for an email I sent them about "macpro2,1" harpertown support. I was told "based on the information you provided, our technical department confirms clovertown and harpertown support for your logic board". In my initial email, I wrote that I have a "macpro2,1" version 2 8X logic board with a 5000X chipset. I hope what they said holds truth because I'm going for it. I will bite the bullet seeing that a Quad 2.5Ghz Harpertown from newegg is only $350. An excellent price for the processor that is new in box. Can anyone with my logic board please confirm my logic boards Chipset with your own... I'm still a little skeptical seeing that I obtained the 5000X info from various forums and whether their department just went by my email description that it has a 5000x chipset... is the chipset 100% certain????

Thanks to everyone for their continued support and insights.

Can you guys with a proto type board confirm your chipsets? Thanks

Earlier in this thread I have listed the numbers on the actual chip on the prototype board, didn't find much info as to what the numbers mean, as it's an ES Chipset! Come on, just pop that heatsink off! Nothing a little Arctic Silver 5 can't restore!

You're right... I guess I'm being a pussy sorry... no problem I'll check it out. I just hope there will be non cryptic brandings like 2343..2346646 Intel... you know what I mean. I would rather have the OS relay what it sees.
