Most Dells are bad news for OSX86, mostly due to their poor ACPI implementation and the dual core bugs. Does it have to be Dell? There's a Compaq (or was it Sony Vaio?) that pretty much works 100%, but I forget the model.

Alessandro is right though, if price is no problem, just get a Mac Book Pro. It'll run OS X and Windows Vista natively, and won't require screwing around with OSX86. It's also a really good gaming system, with it's 8600GTM.

These opinions pretty much sum up the views around here on laptops. Go for the real thing if you must have a laptop. Laptops aren't worth the hassle, almost 99% of the time, since barely any laptops actually work 100%(power management, etc).

Well if you have no other option than Dell any of the new models will work fine with 2 cores, previous models don't, but newer models suffer lack of working graphics test, except X3100 that worked today with errandwolfe's Dell. Also, HDAudio does not work very well, and some decives never will get drivers like the multi-card reader.

Thanks guys, even though the price doesn't matter. It HAS to be a DELL, I already have many macs.

So from the DELL collection at the time, www.dell.com

what would be teh closest best one for x86?

If it has to be a PC, why a Dell? It is common wisdom in Italy that there are better laptops than Dell.

Okey responding AGAIN! som eof you just wont answer the damn question and have questions like, "if price doesnt matter, why dell? buy a mac"

"why DEll, dell sucks" ETC!

Is it to hard to follow my wishes and maybe tell me the closest BEST laptop for x86 from www.dell.com PLEASE!

Maybe t3mur works for Dell or gets a discount on Dell's I don't know the reason behind wanting a Dell. I don't know much about Dell or OSx86 or anything like that as I bought an iMac so that way I get the full Mac experience, but surely someone has better insight into this that will actually offer the best solution in the Dell product lineup. Sorry I don't have the answer for you t3mur I wish I did, but maybe someone will be able to help.

I found out doing research and choosing your own computer/laptop works WAY better then choosing on one or a couple suggestions. Normally faster 2.

Big screen best: http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopi...;l=en&s=dhs

Normal screen best: http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/con...DWKA3&s=dhs

These suggestions are based on hardware knowledge not personal.

They can all be customized if you find out another video card works better and so on.

Thank you! if only everyone responded based on my QUESTION!

Why Dell? Can you just answer that? If you're in the market to buy a laptop Dell is not nessicerily your best choice.

I would say the Dell M1530:

-15.4 inch screen

-NVIDIA 8600M

-Wireless N

-Upgradeable to a 2.6 Ghz C2D

-Upgradeable to 4 GB RAM

-Upgradeable to a 7200 RPM HD

I have the m1330, its pretty much exactly the same.. AMAZING, and as of yesterday... there is support for the 8400/8600 GPU. Go for this, I have it with Complete Care ... its amazing. oh yeah, Complete Care... a MUST.

My last few laptops have all been Dells. I have had hardly a problem with any of them. The Inspirons especially are cost-effective, usually have decent options, and they use very standard parts. My E1705 runs OS X fairly well, except for the dual core thing and the lack of some drivers. It's one of the less glitchy installs I've read about.

I'm a little irked about them only offering the 8x00 GPUs since they are not as good as the 79x0's. I have a 7900GS Go and it's surprisingly powerful.

Another reason why I wouldn't buy a Dell is that I could get a different brand laptop with great specs from supermarkets at half the price of an equivalent Dell.

But of course t3mur must have his good reasons for wanting one.

Show me.
