did you take the appleinteli915 out of the appleinteli915.kext and rename it appleinteli830

then put the renamed file into the appleinteli830.kext/contents/macos and copy over the original

file thats there?its in the guide somewhere on the thread

FYI  :D

Only for Dell 700M. These files are already configured 700m.

Make sure you have "su" access. Copy to \system\library\extensions

sudo chown -R root:wheel AppleIntel*

enjoy

YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! I had been working to fix this ALL day yesterday. I checked out the file goldenarowana attached, and that one worked perfectly. I had been adding the 0x3582 to the i830 section rather than i915, and now it works like a charm. Thanks! FINALLY OUT OF 800x600!

Now to try your fix for QE...

for QE, removing the 915 kext file and restarting should do the trick.

I already removed the 915, and nothing. I also tried using the 915 driver in place of the 830 (the copying trick, like previously mentioned in this thread) and it didn't work. Then I realized I was using AppleIntelIntegratedGraphics, this is what kextstat tells me:

46 0 0xd6828000 0xa000 0x9000 com.apple.driver.AppleIntelIntegratedGraphics (2.0.0) <45 11>

Would replacing the AppleIntelIntegratedGraphics driver in the MacOS subdirectory of the kext with the 915 version work?

How about the rest of you, what driver does kextstat say you're using and state your chipset and core/qe support, thanks.

^^ it doesnt look like your 830 driver is loaded....

try kextload AppleIntel830.kext

have you tried restarting recently?... i say you remove the integrated kext.. see if ur computer boots up... and if any changes have been made... if it doesnt boot up.. be prepaired to know how to replace the file back using darwin...

i mean.. try this stuff if ur getting desperate and u have time to fiddle.. and fix.

Rebooted after loading the 830 kext, many things (such as some web pages) get funky colors, corrupt display.

Removed IntelInteg... Doesn't use 830, doesn't use any kext at all, back to 800x600. Then again, I was using the 915 in the 830, so I'll try one last reboot with the original 830. If not, I'll have to go back to Integrated.

I am getting the following Message whe using the copying trick and changing the approriate plist files:

System extension cannot be used.

The system extension "/System/Lbrary/Extensions/AppleIntel830.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor fir an udate.

I have tried reinstalling it (via Terminal cp command and have repaired the permissions, but no luck)

You have to set the owner.

sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/Appleintel830.kext

sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/Appleintel830.kext

Okay, well, I think it loaded the 830 after some changes, but it doesn't let me change out of 800x600 and it doesn't support QE or Core.

So I think I'm {censored} out of luck. I'll have to load up the IntelIntegrated. Any ideas what I should do to get QE support on that? Should I use the modified CoreGraphics?

i have a GeforceFx5200 on my computer.

OS X runs in 1024x768.

i go upto 1280x1024 @60hz by passing "Graphics Mode"="1280x1024x32@60" during boot process, but its not run.

you can get QE support by taking the AppleIntelI915 out of the ApplleIntelI915.kext

and Renaming to to AppleIntelI830 and copying over the one in the Appelinteli830.kext

then set your permissions and do the wheel on it :) and reboot

enjoy QE

I'll just say this

The Mac community never ceases to amaze me or anyone else involved in making Mac OS X happen.
