One question - will the Lan Freeze-thingy go away if I disable the nForce-LAN, and use the Marvell Yukon-chip instead?

(MoBo: ASUS A8N-SLI Dlx)

It worked perfectly for me. No more freezes with the Marvell Port

Use this Driver for the Marvell Chip:

my problem: How the heck to I boot into MacOSX? installation went along, but now how do i boot into my new osx? it wont start directly from the hdd, and from the dvd it just seems to boot the installer! thx for any help!

That's because Darwin wasn't installed. Use the DVD and then enter the following kernel flag:

rd=diskXsX

Replace diskXsX with your HDD, on which you installed Leopard.

Example:

disk0s1, 0 means the first Disk, and 1 the first partition.

Then search the forum how to manually install the darwin bootloader.

Actually i started the torretn month ago, tough i forgot it and turned it on and it finnished in about 4 hours(was on 50% already)

But now when i boot with VMware i get(see pic)

And VMware says the os crashed and it should reboot(And indeed it doesn't do anything anymore)

I used -x -f (Otherwise it gives Kernal Panic)

I have succesfully installed Mac OS X Tiger already so MacosX86 does work(Except VideoCard but this because i got the nextgen low budget 8500GT)

This is pic of what happens:

System:

AMD Athlon X2 4000+ 64Bit(But i actually only use it with 32Bit tough,Also it supports SSE3 so that is not the problem,Clock 2.11Ghz Duallcore)

Club3D Nvidia Geforce 8500GT

160GB Harddisk

2GB Memory

By the way i use VMware, because with Tiger it only worked with VMware(Something with SATA II Harddisk)

And didn't want to try and throw away another disk

hej, thx for all your help!

funny enough my pc hangs up at the same time dylans vmware verion does. ill go and check the wiki, a´right?

EDIT: well nothing on wiki. i remember reading something about panic problems in this thread, but how were they resolved?

What for system do you have?

By the way sometimes normal boot works, but sometimes it does not and crashes

But when i use -x -f thing it always works, but at the end it crashes tough

Oh and by the way this is that message what i get:

asus k8ne deluxe

2gb ram

ide hdd

ill try -x next

EDIT: -x didnt work, what else shall I try? oh and btw i got the darwin 9.0.0 kernel installed, not the 9.1.0

@Gipo:

+1, I think it's a good Idea to cut all the languages besides English, and then release a second CD which includes all the languages and other optional add-ons.

I think that's a great idea! But then, as an American, I have a responsibility to speak only English :P ...

Thanks alot! Have now disabled nforce lan-chip, installed the Yukon-driver, and removed the cpus=1-flag from the bootfile... Only played with it for a few seconds, but it seems to be stable. Very nice! :)

Sounds good! :P

Hello:

The installation was very fine. -the onlyproblem is the duration. For installing, it took more than 1 hour in a hard disk IDE. It is normal?.

Once installed, the system run very slow. So, I downloaded the appleviaata.kext and put the ID my SATA Controller. Voila!...My disc SATA was in the desktop.

please, the next time...install this file...please....the installation is a eternity: (It is very difficult put this file into the iso with the chipset id for installing directly in a SATA disk?)

It runs with -legacy and -v flags localized in the apple.boot file. Whant mean -legacy?

My computer:

Leopard 10.5.1 ToH with EFI v8.

ASUS M2V - Chipset VIA K8T890 (sata chipset VT8237A, vendor id: 0x1106, device id: 0x0591)

3,5 gb RAM Kingston 667Mhz, 80 gb IDE and 160 GB SATA.

ATI X300 (CI/QE not supprted)

Sound Alc 660 (output only)

Mouse and keyboard USB

Bye, friends

The installation was very fine. -the onlyproblem is the duration. For installing, it took more than 1 hour in a hard disk IDE. It is normal?.

Depends on the speed of your Drive, I suppose.

On my SATA Drive the installation took a little less than 20 minutes.

Greetings

I had the same problem, the instalation took more than 1 hour and the system was very slow... It's because the AMD DVD don't have the AppleVIAATA.kext.

I put that kext into Extensions folder and the system is fine now...

My question is: Is there a way to put this kext into DVD? Without it the acces to IDE is very poor...

My computer:

Leopard 10.5.1 ToH

ASUS K8V-SE Deluxe

768Mb RAM - nVidia FX5200 (Full Working)

AMD Sempron 2800+ (SSE3)

Samsung IDE 160Gb

Samsung IDE 80Gb

Rev.2 will be on DVD-SL but ... space is a problem.

At the moment I must remove all languages, AsianLanguagesSupport and X11 in order to burn it. But some stuff are missing as there is not enough space to place it on the ISO so the DVD is not good.

perhaps this was covered somewhere else... what's the rationale behind making it single layer? why not go dual layer and put everything in it that people might need?

I have mouse and keyboard PS2. After instalation I couldn't use them.

To fix it, boot from DVD open terminal and copy the AppleACPIPlatform.kext and ApplePS2Controller.kext from DVD to Leopard HD Extensions folder.

It worked for me... The difference was that I used the old kexts from my Tiger instalation... I think use the DVD kexts work too because during the instalation the mouse and keyboard works... If it din't work, find the tiger kexts and use them...

Don't forget to fix permissions before reboot...

PS. For those who have the Portuguese Brazilian ABNT2 keyboard the modified ApplePS2Controller.kext to get the \ | / ? keys work too...

Sorry for my english...
