so, i have saved that kext that you sent me zephyroth (thanks a lot, by the way) to the desktop. i think i screwed up what i was asking, cause im confused about how to do this.

when i turn off the computer, and throw the dvd in, reboot...after i get by the bios i get asked if i want to boot to dvd, and i have about 8 seconds to choose, or i can hit f8 to go to other boot options.

i need this kext to just get to the install screen, so what i have to do install that kext before the dvd boots up, right?

and then, when i hit f8, im asked if i want to use any commands, so i type:

sudo -s

kextload -v [NAME].kext

?

dont i have to type the directory where i saved the kext? but also, it wont find it because the dvd drive booted up first...right? im confused as hell as about this...

Arf ...

You must edit the iso and add the kext to it in "/System/Library/Extensions".

Have you Mac OS X Tiger installed ? If not what is your main OS ?

Samy

Rev.1 doesn't support SSE2.

You must try with mach_kernel 9.0.0 which is a SSE2/SSE3 kernel.

ok, that fills in a LOT of blanks! lol...ok originally i was dual booting vista and tiger 10.4.9...i got rid of tiger in anticipation of getting leopard installed and going...

thats a huge help, im going to use winiso and unpack, add, repack, reburn, reattempt....ill post my results, thanks again.

After placing it into /System/Library/Extensions don't forget to repair its permissions !!!

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleVIAATA.kext

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleVIAATA.kext

You will need to rebuild the mkext located in /System/Library/Extensions. But you must do this under Mac OS.

Else you can remove it but if you do that every time you will load the DVD ALL kexts will be checked and boot time will be longer.

Or I can rebuild one for you with this kext included. But you have to wait a little. :(

Hi Zephyroth and everybody here!. As everybody "said", take all the time you need for your new release. I have 10.5.1 and, even is not fully working, it is ok. There are some little issues to fix and as you post, I am willing to test for helping everybody: post what you need and thanks again... Happy new year!

i took the kext and added it to system/library/extensions, repacked....i couldnt repair the permissions, im doing all of this on vista atm...reburned, rebooted...and now the dvd isnt picking up at all, it goes straight to the vista bootloader, i never changed the boot order in the bios so i know it isnt that..im down to 7 cd's now...im gonna read around for a while longer...and try this again later :-( thanks for the help and happy new year everyone.

Mr. Catamount,

try to get a full working version of Transmac, the iso provided by zaph is a "mac" iso, which shouldnt be able to be modified by magiciso or anything similar.

1. Open the iso with transmac from harddrive

2. Put in the mach kernel (replace with old one)

3. Burn to DVD with Burning Option in Transmac

This did it for me!

Aaaahh ...

I don't really know.

Rev.2 is working very fine on my system but I need to add support for other devices and before release it I need to do some more tests.

I don't want to announce a release date that will not be respected.

But be sure it will be released this month ! :D

I finaly got a HFS+ Patrtition by using the Mac OS X 10.4.8 Disk

Then inserting 10.5.1 Disk of Zephyroth

Everything went well until it only had to do 10 mins, i waited 30Min and nothing happend nothing happend to the log also

I have attached the log for people that may can use it, i will try to install tonight again hope it works that time

But i got about 5.35GB installed files on the Mac Drive now

But when i go in windows MacDrive(Application for Mac Drives) says it needs to be repaired, then i do repair but it says it does not have write permissions so it can't repair :'(

m.catamount,

You have to deal with Transmac since the ISO contains a HFS+ volume (it is not FAT32 nor NTFS).

Download Transmac, install it, open the ISO image file. Add whatever you need to the volume. Save ISO. Burn it to a DVD, boot it. Tell us.

At first i wasted some DVDR... not a big problem.

Note: make a copy of the ISO file and deal with the copy. You don't want to download it again, right?.

zephyroth maybe it'is possible to change IOFireWireFamily.kext because mac os x 10.4.9 work fine on my PC ...leopard shows :Unable to determine FireWire - full-secure-mode is it possible to change this file from 10.4.9 and put on leopard dvd sorry for bad english

I don't really see why anyone would be waiting for Rev.2, what's wrong with the first release?

It works perfectly, if you know what you are doing / what you need to change to make your system work.

Forcedeth Freezes are disappointing about the first release, but it's rather easy to get rid of them:

  • If you have a second LAN Port, use that one, and do not use the nForce LAN Port.
Also get rid of forcedeth.kext and get the proper driver for your second port.
  • or use Wi-Fi

I have a problem when booting. It takes about 30 secs extra and I don't know why. These are the debug lines:

... kernel[0]: CODE SIGNING: cs_invalid_page: p=90[mdworker] clearing CS_VALID

... kextd[10]: IOKitWaitQuiet() timed out waiting to write kernel symbols

... kextd[10]: writing kernel link data to /var/run/mach.sym

Could someone explain what is "kernel symbols" or "kernel link data"?, what is this "mach.sym" used for?

Thanks...

Hi sergiales, as you know,

I experienced this error as well, and it took about 15 seconds additional booting time.

Now I recently bought an AirPort Extreme, and got rid of all my LAN Cables.

Guess what? The error disappeared, and the whole booting process takes about 15-20 seconds only.

It's so much nicer than cables, I really enjoy it.

I think everybody is waiting for Rev.2 because the most of people who want it are new to OS X 86 and don't want to deal with command line and follow steps that seems easy for us but ... hard for them.

And Rev.2 comes with a lot of changes:

Bootloader is fixed.

PS2Controller is fixed.

LAN freezes are fixed.

More devices are supported.

...

In one word more simple to install !

I have a lot of ideas ... but I don't say a word about it for the moment ... ;)

You are definitely right about that point, it is not easy to install for newbies,

and one really has to read and learn a lot.

But still it can work perfectly nice.

Thanks for your superior work, zeph ;)
