Hi, Zephyroth and other users!

Please help me this is a really anoying bug and it's probably caused because i use -x(but it doesn't boot if i don't use -x)

I actually formatted again Disk Ulity somehow worked perfectly now ;)

It finnished installing within 30min :P, and i rebooted started but it did not work,

Then i used -x to boot, now it booted fine

It told me my keyboard is unknown and stuff(Before you begin screen)

Then i did all steps until Do you already own a mac screen

I clicked no, then it takes about 2min and then it goes back to the first screen Before you begin

And this keeps going i tried over and over but it always return to Before you begin screen after i did the Do you already own a mac screen

Dylan, what happens if you select "yes", and then "no I don't want to transfer the account or apps" or whatever the option says. Sorry, its too long ago to remember exactly, but i do remember the process at that point took some very long waits and patience to progress thru.

If i click yes> Then it will be searching for devices which i don't have connected so it will tell me i don't have any devices connected

And then no>It will just do the same(Going back to first step)

I think it all works fine, but it just can't save the settings so it get back to the first step(Maybe because i use -x)

I think everybody is waiting for Rev.2 because the most of people who want it are new to OS X 86 and don't want to deal with command line and follow steps that seems easy for us but ... hard for them.

And Rev.2 comes with a lot of changes:

Bootloader is fixed.

PS2Controller is fixed.

LAN freezes are fixed.

More devices are supported.

...

In one word more simple to install !

I have a lot of ideas ... but I don't say a word about it for the moment ... ;)

i actually lost the image accidentally so i'm gonna make an iso of the dvd and than once v2 is out than i will apply ppf to that.

maybe you should wait for 10.5.2 and include that

zephyroth maybe it'is possible to change IOFireWireFamily.kext because mac os x 10.4.9 work fine on my PC ...leopard shows :Unable to determine FireWire - full-secure-mode is it possible to change this file from 10.4.9 and put on leopard dvd sorry for bad english

so there isn't any solution to change IOFireWireFamily.kext ?

i found transmac, opened the iso in the mac window, found system/library/extensions..added the kext, chose file translation - automatic, copy entire folder tree, and got this:

transmacerror.jpg

ive been clicking and unclicking options for a while...i even uninstalled and reinstalled transmac and i got the same error. thats where im at now, ill post back when i figure this out

Hello I have successfully installed osx.5 on my amd cpu. Unfortunataly i can not get it to boot into the OS, after the darwin boot loader it goes through the startup process but it stops at:

Kernel Version:

Darwin Kernel Version 9.1.0: Fri Nov 16 14:50:43; made by ToH:xnu-1228.0.2~1/Build/obj/RELEASE_I386

Can someone tell me if this is fixable and if so how?

Hi sergiales, as you know,

I experienced this error as well, and it took about 15 seconds additional booting time.

Now I recently bought an AirPort Extreme, and got rid of all my LAN Cables.

Guess what? The error disappeared, and the whole booting process takes about 15-20 seconds only.

It's so much nicer than cables, I really enjoy it.

I envy you!!. :D

I'm considering also to buy one.

Thanks for the tip.

Btw, I don't have a second LAN port. I have a second class mobo... :)

m.catamount,

Nasty error... I cannot tell you about it, but you could try Transmac ver. 8 (just with the evalutation version you are done). It worked fine for me. It's all I can tell you. Good luck.

I have had the same problem try:

-x

If that doens't work try:

-v -f -x system=X86PC

LeeAMDMAC, Dylan-AKA-Hit,

This problem isn't posted on the wiki yet, pls let me know if the two options work for you. If so i'll post it on the wiki site :).

thx

-x works perfectly for me only boots with -x otherwise it stops at the point LeeAMDMAC showed

But i have an other problem that it always keeps going to that first run screen even after doing all steps it comes back to that first run screen(The screen with Keyboard config and such)

Bonkey, the -x commands fixes the set up freeze :) (at least for me worked) maybe you could put it on the wiki page :).

P.S : does anyone know a emulator program to run win programs on osx (something like wine, i need it because my internet conections requires an application)

when i try to install the Leopard for AMD Version it shows some Fireware failure and it set to highest security level when grub loading

after it not processing to next level and i waited for 15 mintutes.. nothing happens

can you guide me how to overcome with this error

@Dylan-AKA-Hit:

Back when I had no clue, and lots of problems installing Leopard, I had the same Issue.

When I booted up without any additional kernel flags, there were errors about FireWire, as far as I remember.

I tried -x and booting worked, but there was exactly the same Issue with "Do you already own a mac" like you are experiencing.

I think that one can't not pass that process in -x mode, because it can't detect parts of your hardware correctly.

Later I figured out that I had to disable FireWire in BIOS, to pass the booting process without any errors, and without any kernel flags.

Now I changed FireWire back to enabled, and it's no problem, it works very nice.

It must be disabled to install though.

Please boot up in verbose mode (-v), and tell us the exact errors.

@mantogo:

Fireware failure and it set to highest security level when grub loading

Disable FireWire in your BIOS to pass that error, later on, when you have Leopard running, just re-enable it.

I also have that firewire failure.. And tried all kind of things but nothing works.. Wtf.. Could my sse2 processor be the problem?

If you can boot with -x switch then you probably have a kext that is causing a kernel panic. The -x switch is the 'safe mode' switch.

In case anybody doesn't know:

-x safe mode

-v verbose mode

-f force load kext files

-s single user mode

I think the loop you are seeing once you do boot into the gui is because your network card isn't being recognized. I am only guessing here but I have seen other posts where if you didn't have your network card working it would loop at that point. It did it for me and once I got my network card going I was able to pass that point.

My network card doesn't work for Windows Live CD either(Live CD with many repairing tools)

While Windows Live CD internet does work with other pc's

I have an ASUS M2N-E SLI Motherboard

Wich uses Nvidia Nforce Chipset
