great install dvd !!

i have everything installed but still have some issues...

can browse web pages but any downloads larger than a web page ex) 1mb will lock the system and have to hard reboot....this problem carries over to other programs like itunes - if it hops on the net = freeze

i have settings set to dhcp-manual and ipv6 turned off - and i thought that fixed the problem because those settings will allow me to download files but eventually it locks up again..

any suggestions?

edit:

also not sure how to get rid of the firewire error?

specs in sig

Hi! This AMD DVD works fine! But I have one problem.

Every time I start to boot, My SATA drive will not boot without DVD.

Bios setting is set to first boot from Hard Disk.

When boot, I enter F8, and choose to boot from DVD drive.

I think there is no bootloader in my SATA drive.

at other topic, some suggest that /usr/misc/script.sh but

There is no such script.sh in my DVD.

is there any suggestion?

Thanks zephyroth!! Works BEAUTIFULLY on:

Athlon 64 3000+ Venice @ 2.25 GHz

MSI K8N Neo4-F (On-board LAN & audio out of the box!)

1 GB DDR400 RAM

XFX 8600GT XXX Edition

120 GB SATA Disk (Leopard)

250 GB ATA Disk (Vista)

The only thing I had to do was the fdisk boot fix (see pages 8, 10, 12 of this thread) and the kexts for my 8600.

GREAT job!!

You mention kexts for your nvidia 8600, I was told that there were none available for the moment only for 8800 series.

What did you use and where did you get it ??? :-)

Will atempd to boot my leopard DVD again today with different bios settings... I'm pretty sure my restart problem is related to some seting in the bios, maybe Cool n' Quiet? ...

After I boot from the CD I just get a black screen with a prompt saying "E"...my PS/2 keyboard does not work, so I cannot get past this screen. I read a few pages back that there were some kexts you could add to fix this, but I was unsure how to add these to the Leopard ISO. I tried using MagicISO, but it gave me a "not enough space" error when I tried to add the PS/2 Keyboard kexts to the ISO file. Can anyone help?

By the way, system specs if these help:

Athlon X2 Brisbane 65nm OC'd to 2.8 GHz Orthos stable

MSI K9N Platinum NForce 570 Ultra

2 GB G.Skill DDR2-800 HZ

eVGA 7600GT KO

120GB IDE Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 (Windows, C: Drive)

80GB SATA Maxtor Diamondmax 7200RPM (E: drive, ~20GB unallocated space set aside on this drive for OS X Leopard using Acronis Disk Director)

Does there seem to be any major issues?

Also, do I need to disable cool/quiet and set the number of cores to "1" in order for Leopard to run properly?

Thanks for any help in advance, I appreciate it

Check out one of the pages waaay earlier in the thread (somewhere between 10 and 18), a few of the users posted links to nVidia kexts, which I added my dev ID to (0x040210de) and then grab the new nvinject (1.5) from their site. It *had* worked, but I messed with things and now it's all funky, it hangs on boot.

I'm stuck in software mode for now, anybody else know how to get a resolution other than 1024x768? (besides the boot option)

No, I have done this many times (as others did) without issues m8. If it would be recommended to not repair permissions the install would be useless ;)

Does anyone know if this release is stable with a VIA chipsets Athlon X2 AM2 socket boards? Also, has anyone installed this release on a SATA DVD drive?
Don't know about your chipset but it should run on a SATA DVD drive since SATA is supported with this release.

Look for solution here: http://nvinject.free.fr/I think the kext replacement (mentioned earlier and the method I used) is only good for 6 and 7 series 256mb cards.Good luck!

m8, get a bloody USB keyboard ;) it's not like they are very expensive is it? it's the cheapest stuff amongst hardware.the bootflag cpus=1 is only needed when you experience crashing with iTunes/Coverflow etc while the application is trying to communicate with the net. I never used cool n quiet since I always want top performance out of my system and it's not like your electrical bill or CPU's lifespan will halve ;)Good luck lad
zephyroth - i think roisoft means use the nvidia ethernet port which i am using and still getting the lockups - i havent tried using the tiger iofamily kext yet....
m8, are you running with the cpus=1 flag? Cause it sounds like the issue that is only solved by doing that. I'm using my Realtek PCI network card now and the crashing issues are gone running both cores.I know we talked about this via pm's but I just want to know how far you at now.Good luck
Sergiales:

Yes, Quicktime is working fine. I just went to mymp4clips.com and played a beer commercial.

Thanks for your comment. In terms of stability, I was talking about playing a long time video, because the truth is that I get crashes randomly (it can take some time to crash).

Could you tell me if you are you using Perian, VLC or another? Thanks.

I have a Acer Aspire 5101ANWLMi laptop, can i run Tiger or Leopard OS on it?

Config:

  • AMD Turion 64, 2.0GHz, 512KB L2
  • ATI Radeon xpress 1100
  • 512MB DDR2
  • 802.11b/g Wireless LAN

If i can, then will it be like:

a. Booting Win XP SP2 first and then running OSX from it, or

b. Choose from XP or OS X, when i start my laptop?

Also, can i install OS X on a portable USB laptop HDisk and use OS X from this USB disk only? :)

Wainting for a reply.
