@CyberSoft: No I removed the GeForce.kext and still getting stuck on the "Creating Account" screen. If I boot into Ubuntu I can see that the account names that I created are in the Users folder so it seems to be creating them but just not allowing me to get onto the desktop.Anyone else have this problem or any ideas/solutions???
Exately the same problem here!!!! tried everything, bios configs, reinstall, nothing solves this... if you find something let me know! : )
Just got this to workFirst I installed the Kalyway 10.4.10 (with AMD ppf) and got "still waiting for root device"I was frustrated, and installed this directly over the Kalyway install (no reformatting), and it booted up with no problem. All the Kalyway apps work too. Thanx a lot zeph!
I'm donwloading that Kalyway right now, tell me, did you customize the installation, or just installed? Did you change anything? I'll try that as soon it finishes downloading
hei guys

Tanx for all your help, but I still can't boot from installed Tiger or Leopard drive on both of my computers.I'll yust wait for the rev2 and boooomb you with questions then :D ...you are great...Emir

Emir...try this..boot from the install disc and when it pauses at the Darwin loader...press any key and type:

"rd=disk0s1" see if that boots your install. This will not make the volume bootable, but it should start OSX up for you (if it is installed properly).

I tried that last night because I read it somewhere, when I typed it it didn't do anything, it just continued loading from the CD.

This could be because your OSX install is not on the first hard drive "0" and the first partition "1". How many hard drives do you have in your system? How many partitions on that hard drive? When you type "rd=diskXsZ" X is the hard disk number (starts at 0) and Z is the partition number (starts at 1). So if you had two hard drives in you system and Leopard was installed to the third partition on the second hard drive...you would type: "rd=disk1s3" since "1" indicates the second hard drive and "3" indicates the third partition on that drive.

If it boots the install disc after you type this in and you are certain that you have the correct hard drive number and partition number, then I would say that Darwin can not find a valid OSX install and defaults to the install disc.

YEAH! I installed Kalyway Tiger (10.4.10) and it didn't load too, then I installed Zeph's DVD over it (without erasing). It gave me a bunch of errors while loading but.... it loaded!! yey!! now, I'll go on with the post install issues, but at least i can see the OS working!! : )

Need help =) I guess you all tired of this message here,do you? =)

On booting from DVD it stucks on "still waiting for root device". I've tried -x, -v, and changing/swapping/reformatting HDD, CD-ROM. Nothing works. But before I've succesfully installed JaS 10.4.8 AMD on same PC with the same HDD(PATA).

Any ideas?

waaaaa...guys...I just had a clean install...I used a tiger edition(tiger dvd 10.4.8 amd) and it went true smoothly...I am realy happy that you helped me in any way that you could...I even borrowed a unix terminal book :)....TAAAAANNNNXXXXX  ...greeeetz from Slovenia

PS:...Gonna try to update to LEO as soon as possible:)

2YureZzZ: for me same message was cause of SATA DVD-drive. I've got IDE drive instead and installed successfully.

What are your hardware specs anyway? It' always easier to answer with more info in mind.

My DVDrom is IDE. Just now I've tried to put DVD & HDD on the same IDE channel (HDD-master, DVD-slave). No luck.

My specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3.2GHz (venice core) socket 939

MSI K8N-SLI nForce4 chipset

1GB RAM

20GB HDD (this is my test HDD)

NEC 3540A DVD-writer

JaS 10.4.8 was installed easily. But now even JaS CD waiting for root device.

In the picture you can see something like IOATAController blocking bus - maybe this is the problem?

After succesfully installing Mac OS X 10.5.1, It asked me to reboot, when I clicked "Yes," it went to a black screen and it said:

Syncing disks... Killing all proccesses

continuing...

done

MACH Reboot

I then manually rebooted, and found that when I tried to boot off of the hard drive it was installed, it just said:

Updating ESCD...

Success

Verifying DMI pool data...

and it would just stop there.

Here are my specs:

AMD Athlon 64 Procesor

512MB of RAM

There is no 1.2 ghz Athlon 64. Is it just reading wrong, did you not type something wrong, or are you running an Athlon XP and not a 64?

Hello, it's all working here. LAN, audio, except for the layout of the keyboard (Brazil, ABNT 2) but that's ok for now. I wonder, how do I know if I have QE/CI, EFI and vanilla kernel, what are those things?

thanks

Ok, been reading for 3 days trying to find

the answer to my install issue. Stalled at install screen where

it is going to copy files onto the hard drive. Any help

would be most appreciated.

DVD boots, I get to file installation point of install program

and it says cannot install some files to the drive.

Ran disk utility and everything is normal. The disk has one

partition that is formatted hfs w/ journaling.

The files start to copy, I can hear the hard drive, but

then it abruptly stops and says can't install files. Sometimes

it says installer cannot copy files and sometimes is says that

my disk might be corrupt.

Tried a different hard drive (Maxtor 100GB ATA)

Tried fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX, etc

Tried low level reformatting in XP

Disabled onboard Lan, raid, firewire and all non-essentials

Tried multiple partition schemes

Tried Macdisk format and partion from XP

Tried reburning the DVD slower

Tried copying the DVD files manually with term to /Volumes/LEOPARD, starts but then get I/O errors

I have a 80GIG WD ATA hard drive and it is master. The DVD is on the

same line and is slaved. Asus A8N-VM Mobo, Athlon 64 4000, GeForce 6150,

nVidia chip. The nvidia is recognized in the boot sequence. Disk probe fails to /dev/rdisk0s1

on occassion. I/O error. Both disks work fine in XP when formatted to NTFS. On boot up,

CODE_SIGNING cs_invalid_page:p=41[configd] Clearing_CS_**

localhost diskarbitrationd[44] CoreRaidServer Not Responding

mDNSResponder invalid destination port (Several of these)

jln journal start/end pointers reset

Sorry if I forgot something.

I had this same problem at one point. The only way I could get it to work was to put the dvd as the master on the primary channel and put the hard drive as the slave on the primary channel. Once I did that it got me past the 'waiting for root device' problem.

i downloaded the image, tried to boot it in vmware, but got nothing but kernal panics, and read/write errors,

might be because its not supposed to run in vmware, i dunno...

here is my specs:

hp tx1410 notebook

AMD Turion 64x2 2200mhz

2 GB ddr2 RAM

HP dvd 8x Lightscribe

250gb hd, at 5400rpm

10/100/1000 lan

realtek 24bit digital/analog audio

Broadcom 802.11 a/b/g/n draft

Windows Vista x32

expresscard 34

For those who have kernel panic:

1 - when it appends ?

2 - is it GeForce or NVDAResman related ?

Give me your specs !

jamesh0317 -----> there's no need to apply any patch !

I Have been trying to Mac os x on my desktop for a while now ...I was able to get leopard on my dell vostro 1500 laptop easily.. So i downloaded several versions of tiger and leopard for my amd desktop.. all of the tigers installation dvd's say waiting for root device.. so i tried the leopard installation dvd and it works and when i got to erase the harddrive i want it to install it on .... for about 20 minutes it says preparing to erase then it says error after that.... what is the problem...Is there a program that can format my harddrive to hfs+ before i install leopard. and my computer is a dell dimension e521 it is an amd processor and it is sse3

thank you for your help

Updating ESCD...

Verifying DMI pool data...

It stops there because it can't find a bootable drive!

Reboot off the DVD, press F8, type -s and hit Enter - boot into single user mode and use "fdisk" to make your new installation partition bootable.

LOOK ON THE WIKI for exact instructions on using fdisk!

Hi there.

So, the thing is like this:

I tried to install for the first time the Leopard-AMD-10.5.1 on my pc, the first time came up with an error on install and hangs, so I reboot pc. The second time all went sweet until hangs on the Installing screen.

Since then I've been rebooting with -x -v etc but now just stops on Darwin Kernel Version 9.1.0: Fri Nov 16 14:50:43; made by ToH:xnu-1228.0.2~1/Build/obj/RELEASE_I386 and Memory allocation error (0xf000f000, 0x2).

If anyone can help me I would apreciate a lot, thanks in advance.

Update: Now just keeps rebooting right after loading dvd :D
