Dammmm it.....did the TOH install via guide on the 1st post.....took 2hrs to install? whats with that taking so long??? Wheres the link to rebuild another install DVD with added kext tweaks for my hardware?

Also dudes....tweaked kexts from 10.4...can they be used in 10.5?

If you can....I guess I could rebuild a mint running system on 10.4...then reuse the kexts for 10.5 via building a tweaked install dvd?

Someone tell me im not dreaming!!! ;)

  1. Execute the command "cd /Volumes/Leopard/System/Library/Extensions; mkdir backup; mv NVDAResman.kext backup" (replace "Leopard" with the name of the volume you installed Leopard on). Hint: if you used the non-case-sensitive version of HFS+, you won't have to deal with capitals - except for the volume name.
  2. Remove the DVD and boot into Leopard with the options "-v -legacy cpus=1" (Don't use the option -x, or Setup will keep looping at the migration step!)

After this point I remove the DVD and it never boots...it just shows a flashing curser on a black screen forever....suggesions?

I am stuck at that point too, after getting to step 11 of the guide, right now. I think it's because the bootloader does not get installed when installing from the ToH disc, from what I gather. I thought that doing the "bootfix" step was supposed to fix this? Maybe I did something wrong in those steps? I found a "Format and Make Bootable HD" disc by kalyway that I'm about to try. I read that you possibly have to install tiger first to get a bootloader installed, then install leopard on top of that. I'm guessing that preperation disc would install a bootloader then I can install ToH on top of it. I'll let you know how that goes. My ToH took about 3 hours to install too, dont know why its taking so long, and I'm bummed that I'll have to sit thru another 3 again to try this but here goes :)

Edit: I decided to give Kalyway another shot, it does indeed install the bootloader but I made the mistake of selecting vanilla kernel (later read that our chipset needs modified kernel) and it's stuck in a reboot loop. I'd reinstall Kalyway again without vanilla but it took over 10 hours and I don't want to wait that long again. ;) Think I'll stick with ToH it only takes 2.5 hrs. Maybe now that the HD has a bootloader from kaly on it, I can install ToH ontop of that to get a working install.

bluraven do you have a really slow iode drive with like 2mb cache? try installing kalyway again but avoid the vanilla kernel. The vanilla kernel will definately not work!

Come to think of it, yes LOL. It was a 40 gig HD I had pulled from my Tivo when I upgraded it's HD so it's probably slower then dirt because it's designed for slow video streaming and constant use lol. I'll either have to try to get sata working or get a better HD. Is there any benefit to using kalyway leopard over ToH? I have ToH installed and working right now. I had to use Kaly's format and make bootable disc first, then installed ToH on top of that, then I was able to skip the "boot fix" part of the guide and still be able to goot it up from the HD without the DVD in the drive. Now, however I'm stuck at the Marvins AMD Utility thing. It creates the log file inside that AMD.Patch.Folder on my desktop but dosn't create the CPUID file inside it, so I can use it to patch. Maybe that dosn't matter though because I have it recognizing my GeFore 7950 GT and QE shows supported and CI shows hardware accelerated! Yipeee :D Now to fix sound and networking :D

hey jae-v hows your system running?

xbench was 159.39 sadly the hard drive is still the only thing slowing my system down...definitely not working at full speed:

picture1hs3.png

the red is mine....this is being compared to a 7200rpm drive and mine is 10,000 lol and im clearly out performed so im thinking its due to drivers but hey im not complaining it works. system running smoothly

nice me too...just got BFG tech lol but just make sure you dont check any video drivers and if it doesnt boot after the install just boot with -x and delete those NV files in the extensions folder....update to .4.10 run the mac.nub easy installer 1.0.1 *most recent* selecting -mac pro update-nforce/amd patch-and 640 meg. Reboot and you'll b set! Especially if you have a dvi monitor

no i went with the install over tiger method...and i dont have those options in my bios either. my systems very stable at the moment, i didnt have those issues, i think they're manufacturer specific.

Hey Guys,

I am posting after a long time in this forum. I installed the new MeDevil SATA drivers along with Paragon NTFS drivers. Everything is working great except when I try to Carbon Copy my Leopard Installation to a SATA drive it hangs in the middle. Basically the same problem some other users are having. Has anyone found the solution or an alternate way to clone the partition?

Hey!

Have anyone Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI board?

Ok...

I use THIS GUDIGE but i don't did a bootfix because i update 10.4.9 to 10.5.0 (i think bootfix is bot neccesary for me)

OK. I have problem with the 22 and 23 .

Marvin's AMD Utility said some error and didn't create the cpuid.txt file on the Folder on desktop... In the folder was log file and 1 other file witch wasn't cpuid.txt

Ohh and the 32 and 33.

When i open the 10.5.1 update with Pacifist 2.5.1 i don't know where i can do this:

Select and install everything except what I have listed below:

CODE/mach_kernel

/System/Library/Extensions/

AppleACPIPlatform.kext

AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext

ApplePS2Controller.kext

AppleSMBIOS.kext

dsmos.kext

AppleAC97Audio.kext

AppleAHCIPort.kext

AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

NVDANV20HAL.kext

NVDANV30HAL.kext

NVDANV40HAL.kext

NVDANV50HAL.kext

Okey finally I managed to do Carbon Copy on my SATA drive. But upon booting, I am stuck at still waiting for root device. Do I have to put AppleNForceATA.kext in /System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ ? Because there was no AppleNForceATA.kext in that directory on my installation. It was only in /System/Library/Extensions/ folder.

Please help if you can.

ok i installed the toh iso dvd and try to set the bootfix but i still get either an b0 error when i try to boot without the disk or an apple.boot.com.plist error with the disk. can anyone help me?

heres my specs

xfx nforce 608i LT

4 gb Corsair XMS2 DHX 2048MB Dual Channel PC6400 DDR2 800MHz

INTEL Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2GHz

evga 8600 gts 512 mb

2 seagate 320 gb barracuda

i followed this guide: http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=56 in order to inject the new nforce sata driver onto an iso. I used ToH Rc2 AND IT INSTALLED AND WORKED GREAT :D

Sweet! I'm gonna try that. I have two WD raptors so I might as well put em to good use if I can :) Do you just have ToH installed on one sata drive or do you actually have two drives configured as a raid with Leo installed on it? Curious to see how you got the bootloader to install on it. :)

how did you guys able to get pass still waiting root device?

did AppleNForceATA.kext worked for you guys?

please reply asap i have an nforce board too please!

If you're getting the "still waiting for root device" message, make sure you have the jumper on the back of the dvd drive set to Slave and the hard drive set to Master. Don't use cable select, it seems to cause that error, at least that's what it turned out to be for me. The AppleNForceATA.kext simply lets you use SATA drives in addition to PATA.

Hi, this my first post on this site.

I have been triyng to install leopard on my PC for a while now. First using iatkos then kalyway without success. I really dont like the idea of downloading again a few GB for the Tiger OS then update to Leopard.

Claud3, I have a IDE(PATA) HD that will be used stricly for this OS but for the rest our hardware is basically the same. If I get ToH_x86_9A581_RC2.iso, will it work right off the bat?

Is there anything special i should do? Is the patch for the gforce 8800 included in the package or should I get any other patches? (I dont need SATA).

Thanks,
