ur pretty smart since u recommended something that wasn't related to the card but pci instead. and guess what: it is REALLY close to working with that kext that chun nun made. my ethernet now works and my wifi is detected, it also detects my access point but still i can't connect, but i think that more due to the fact i didn't edit my networkinterfaces file yet.

EDIT:i don't want to startle anyone but it was the pci-e slot, since chun nan fixed it i am coming to you live through my dell 1490 woop woop

time to do a merry jig.

peace out!

well, actually the PCI problem was your suggestion. I was trying to get my ethernet to work with chunnan's kext; it didnt work but I left the kext in my extensions folder. So it was there when I did the eprom hack (needed 'cos my HP BIOS), and then the wireless card worked out of the box. A detail I overlooked.

Anyway, good you got it working...

setup:

HP compaq 6720s.

-C2D T7250, Santa Rosa chipset (i965+x3100)

-10.5.2 custom install disk. EFI v8, ToH speedstep kernel/vanilla. Chunnan's IOPCIFamily.kext, custom AppleACPIPlatform.kext, MacDotNub's AppleSMBIOS.kext

-Dell 1390 PC559 wireless card-broadcom 4311. rev 01 (eprom hacked).

hi guys, wow the IOPCIFamily.kext made leo recognise my wifi. it still won't power on but it is recognised, which is more than it has ever been. leo sees it loads the apple broadcom kext and it shows up under network in the system preferences controlpanel. in system profiler it shows up under network inerfaces, but when i click on Airport just below i shows no info. funny thing is that i can't find it in ioreg either. any ideas?

try doing the final touches on this thread http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=23684

also my wifi wouldn't connect to my router so i reinstalled. and it still wouldn't connect, then i changed the broadcast channel on my router from 4 to 6 and now it works on startup. hope that helps.

blackch u might want to enter ur ethernet devid into its respective kext. mine is a yukon and i just have to add my id into appleyukon2 and now it works.

and make sure you go to this thread and thank chun nan he's freaking awsome. got my pc card slot working and now my ethernet and wifihttp://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=87592

well i installed iatkos, right off the bat it recognized my card as atheros , and showed the icon in interface for airport (disabled), i tried the new IOPCIbridge but that didnt help, i hav not upgraded to 10.5.2 yet (the IOPCIFamily) mentions 10.5.2 yet, going to update to 10.5.2 now and see how it goes

edit: the atheros was just the first boot after install I guess,I dont even see 14e4,4311 in ioreg anymore, saw it in kalyway 10.5.2

Same boat as most.... Zephyrot 10.5.2

Card is recognized at boot, tray icon appears. See's the cards mac address etc. Dosen't see the router or any. so i'm thinking the switch. But....heres the catch....the switch turn the Airport off, switch on you need to use the preferences to turn it on.

So i'm at a loss

When you right click the try icon network preferences (think thats it). Think it was under Advanced tab. Will recheck for you. This install was not choosing the Broadcomm in customize as well.

At boot i get ...

wl0: Broadcom BCM4311 802.11 Wireless Controller

then a few lines down...

AirPort_bcm43xx : (mac address)

well, i dont think my card is recognized coz i cant see the mac address of the card,

@joedubya, where are you seeing the mac address of the wifi card, in dmesg or /var/log/system.log?

Alright, so now I'm at the point where I can work on this thing and maybe get it to work. Boogersniffer and funnypanks, what steps did you take to get your wifi working? We need to get a comprehensive guide set up. Everybody that has gotten your 4311 to work, please post the model of computer you're running it on and the steps it took to get it working. I'll backtrack in this thread and play around, see if I can get the 4311 to work on my Acer 3680.
