After applying the SnowLeo grpahics update I get kernel panic in ATIRadeonX1000.kext. adding 0x72801002 to the list of supported Ids did not help.

Any suggestions?

More to patch?

Thanks

Joey

PS I use the package from plan3r, which is really great except that I can't figure out how to survive this update...

Hi, I had the same issue: hopefully, you have a backup of your kexts, so reinstall the pre-graphics update ones, (in theory, reapplying plan3r package should be fine).

I've just uploaded updated drivers after 10.6.4 graphics update. You can find them here:

plan3r can u help me?

i've an 1950pro, i'm trying to use your files but i've some problems.

System is 10.6.4 with graphics update and pc efi 10.6

The system with your files has qe/ci active, full resolution (1920x120060hz) but when i'm browsing web pages the screen suddenly goes black and then turn normal.

And when i'm trying to change resolution the screen goes to 480i mode and i can't change it. The only way to get back to 1600x1200 is to cancel your kext and reboot, but in this case i don't have qe/ci and resolution change.

Can u help me? maybe i'm missing some files.

Thanks

Thanks Plan3r!!

I hope this resolves an issue I have had with the previous incarnation of these drivers before you came on board. Every once and a while I would get a blank screen or a garble screen while working on something is was completely random. Plus the occasional horizontal line.

So far the test setup is looking good. Your work is appreciated!!

Question for plan3r?

Will this driver need to be updated for each patch after 10.6.5?

Thanks, oq

It depends. So this is how it works (or at least, worked so far). When Apple updates graphics drivers (via big system update or just graphics update as seen some time after 10.6.4) you can try using older driver (since it's independent of other kexts, it will not KP, but you get outdated driver) or get updated one. Driver files should be updated every single time original kexts change because there's some HEX editing involved to get CI/QE, but it could be possible to use older pathed driver again. As long as Apple keeps things simple, this is not a problem.

Thanks Plan3r!!

Just be sure to delete all other injectors/enablers from /System/Library/Extensions and /Extras, and use latest Chameleon RC5 with patched drivers and you should be good. Glitches can happen if you have physicaly bad card or cooling isn't good. Boot to Windows and check for artifacts under full load.

Glad to help.

Phew, it was a bumpy ride, but I finally managed to get my X1950Pro to work under Snow Leopard 10.6.5

The exact model of my card is 512MB Dual DVI AGP Saphire Radeon X1950 Pro

http://www1.sapphiretech.com/id/products/p...d=168&grp=2

Currently, at start-up Natit.ext recognize it as ATY, Prionace (7280 vendor code)

I've tried various methods including:

* Installing the original Bronya 10a504 driver :: this resulted in screens painted in solid gray that strangely enough still featured a moving mouse cursor

* Then I tried the minimal patching method proposed here:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi...hp/t223631.html

which is also used in the recent prepackaged drivers uploaded by Plan3r http://goo.gl/mj1lb

This method is reported to work by many users, but on my machine it resulted in gray screens (no mouse this time)

I've tried it with or without the jaminmc extensions: http://goo.gl/qatKD

* Finally, I noticed a recently uploaded driver for X1950GT that was based on the Bronya's stuff:

http://www.kexts.com/view/721-ati_radeon_x...nly_10.6.5.html

With some binary diff-ing and investigation I was able to produce a similar updated Bronya driver for 10.6.5, but for X1950Pro cards. QE/CI is enabled and there should be no difference in the final performance of the different methods since this driver still makes minimal modifications to the vanilla mac os extensions.

* README:

Download, unpack and run Install.command

If anything goes wrong, boot in single user mode and execute Restore.command

Here are my kexts for x1950 7280 working in the 32/64 bit under 10.6.6. :)

1. Use Chameleon 2.0 RC5 r700 by Kabyl with experimental

ATI GraphicsEnabler support from ##### 3.2.

2. In Chameleon control panel enable graphic support.

3. Instal kexts via KextHelper.

reboot

add:If you do not use graphic Enabler from chameleon, use Natit, or Evoenabler for display resolution.

x1950Pro 7280 - KP for your kexts with the Chameleon r700 by Kabyl. What card do you have?

What do you mean by: "It should work with everything off grapgic enabler and use Natit, or Evoenabler for display resolution." Should I USE Natit or Evoenabler or NOT? Because I get it working in 32bit with natit with sleep, in 64bit I have QE/CI but no resolution and no sleep.
