Colonel
Two days ago, Apple released the long anticipated iPhone along with iTunes 7.3. The iPhone was originally announced back in January at MacWorld 2007 and since then, Apple has been brewing hype and excitement about the phone. People had been waiting in lines for almost a week just to get their hands on one of these beauties. I sure hope the iPhone lives up to its expectations. iTunes 7.3 was also released simultaneously with the iPhone. The iTunes update includes iPhone compatibility as well as several bug fixes and repairs the blurry scroll bars that would appear on MacBooks and Mac-minis when using the CoverFlow view. The update is available through software update as well as from Apple's iTunes download page. Also, I apologize for the news being old and kinda stale... *pokes the News Team* Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55842-iphone-and-itunes-73-released/ Share on other sites

TvvqKMZ72bsklauw5
Nice job Colonel. There was, surprisingly, iPhones left over in my area. For example, I called up 3 AT&T stores, and they told me they have around at least 5 or 10 left. Not a large amount, but still a remaining amount. I want one more than air right now, but, sadly, I must wait until I can acquire the funds to purchase the device. Expensive price, including service fees, but all worth it (at least from my perspective). The best launch story I've heard with the iPhone (most likely, the best launch story PERIOD) was this video that I posted in the "Laughs" section of the forums. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=55892. Alessandro17
The update is available through software update as well as from Apple's iTunes download page. Actually in my case it showed up only after upgrading to 10.4.10. It might have been a coincidence, though. You may be able to get iTunes 7.3 on an machine lower than 10.4.10 but the iPhone requires 10.4.10, at least acording to the apple store. sandmanfvrga
I want to go mobile email. I have two or three email addresses (counting work as the third one) and for me, the main reason a phone like this would be cool, is the mobile web/email and stuff. Funny thing is I can get a sidekick off ebay, then pay $30 a month and get unlimited email and internet. I got an Archos 404 for my mp3/movie things in a handheld. The iPhone IS cool, just to high (buddy at work showed me his and I it is very nice and such). maccabbi
The monthly rates really aren't so bad. It is the same as a blackberry with unlimited data pack. It is much better though. I'm writting this from the iPhone. By the way any iphone users who haven't found this already check out http://www.iphoneappsmanager.com Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55842-iphone-and-itunes-73-released/#findComment-400122 Share on other sites
cmdshft
They should have gone where the better network is. Like Verizon. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55842-iphone-and-itunes-73-released/#findComment-400139 Share on other sites
EddieR
I heard Verizon was made an offer, but, the higher ups dropped the ball and declined, and you know the rest, AT&T stepped in... superjunaid
They should have gone where the better network is. Like Verizon. Well Apple did go to Verizon at first... but Verizon had a lot of Demands so Apple went with Cingular (the new At&t) being the largest network in the US. Also GSM made more sense because the GSM radio chip uses a lot less power and it is the WorldWide standard. Verizon's CDMA is amazing but limited to the US only. Plus CDMA devices are power hungry and have a very low battery life. In summary: 1. GSM a. lower battery usage b. worldwide standard c. increasing data standards d. At&t agreed to go with all of the terms Apple asked for. 2. At&t a. largest GSM network in the US. b. a strong EDGE network Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55842-iphone-and-itunes-73-released/#findComment-400190 Share on other sites
cmdshft
EDGE is old. EVDO and that other one that starts with an H (im too lazy to search it now) are far better for loading web pages on a phone without WiFi nearby. They loaded the yahoo homepage, and reviewers reported a 100 second load time on the iPhone using EDGE. cmdshft
I would take the phone if it met two conditions: -Support for CDMA and EVDO -Was unlockable I still wouldn't totally transfer my VX8500 account over though. I would use both probably. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55842-iphone-and-itunes-73-released/#findComment-400626 Share on other sites

TvvqKMZ72bsklauw5
OMG! I got the iPhone just yesterday. My uncle and aunt surprised me with it. I'm typing this message on it right now! I really like the keyboard on it and I've become good enough to use my two thumbs to type. I have to say that the best feature of the phone is Safari. All the websites render completely and is not "dumbed" down in any way (except for the fact that there is no support for flash as of yet.)
