Sgerber
hello everyone i was able to install os x 4.8 on an asus p5k, (p35 ich9). For installation i use external usb dvd drive, you can use any external usb dvd drive or a SATA DVD drive. SATA must be configurate as AHCI installation went normal as any other 10.4.8 installation no problems at all cpu recognized well, C2D 2.8 (2.13 overclocked) memory 2G DDR2 800mhz sound needs patch info here haven't test yet lan not working driver in develop here everything else works fine so far the only thing not working is the attansic L1 LAN just any other compatible and done! i'll post screenshots later. EDIT: i upgraded to 10.4.9 and its working fine but my cpu now says 1.6 with 1.4.8 was showing the real speed (2.8) i'll try to find some fix, or keep using 10.4.8 Audio does not work i suppouse that is an issue with ich9. I ran xbench, my result is: 72.39 i know this is good, but can someone tell me how good is that? here some screenshots and the xbench results. newelement
Nice! Thanks for the results. Yeah I wish he would get that NIC working. He would be a hero...all those Asus boards running Attansic NICs. Would be sweet!. I'm running a cheap Realtek NIC for now. See my sig.
OMX-Knuckles
Looks good. Seems like we'll see the same kinda issues we did with 965 boards; which were overcome early on. Just make sure to get a board with supported LAN and audio.
delish
Your xbench OpenGl and diskscores are kind of low, this is what I get openGL: 157 with my 7600gt disk: 80 on sequential and 56 on random My overall score is 122 in xbench, I get 2200 score with Geekbench. Sgerber
thanks! with the graphics score your video card is much better than mine lets se when i get a 8600gt the disk could b the ICH9 wich supposely is not supported yet.
asap18
The P5K-E board has a different LAN, so it works . I got everything but sound to work so far.

cyclonefr
anyone tried to tweak Azalia's plist to get ALC883 stereo support with ASUS P5K ? It should work... Or tried to get a codecdump.txt from Linux and patch AppleHDA with Taruga's method.

anarsild
Any one have any luck with the P5K Deluxe? As the system boots from the dvd and starts the setup process, it always gets stuck on the iousb, and hangs at "still waiting for root..."
MrMacktel
Hi guys, did anyone manage to get the ALC883 sound working yet on the P5K? Is it just a matter of changing vendorID or something; or do we have to wait for the ICH9 patch? Asus P5K Intel E6600@2.4GHz WD SATA-1 80GB 2GB DDR2-

Asus P5K Intel E6600@2.4GHz WD SATA-1 80GB 2GB DDR2-800 It's just a matter of changing ids, that I have written in another P5K or P35 post (just check my posts). I think even AppleHDA Patcher should work so you can try to create a linux codec dump, i'll gladly appreciate since I can't boot linux without a SATA DVD ROM (or so it seems). But stereo sound works with Azalia.
Khid
Hey just got my Asus P5K. Can anyone tell me if the Ethernet Ports are working yet? Looks like sound is merely a device ID so that makes me happy! Sata speeds are up and go? Looks like they're about the same as the other boards. Here's to hoping my switch from Gigabyte to ASUS doesn't futz up my OS X install. =\

The JMicron JMB363 only works in AHCI so it seems. Ethernet: I think you'll have to use a PCI NIC card for the time being.

3phemeral
he, he. Again Attansic, I thought Asus puts Marvel Lan on P5K board Myea :/ Sadly enough... since i'm planning on getting this board, hehe...The specs on the Asus site are useless concerning the NIC... They have different network cards in some of the other P5K*'s tho, as previously mentioned.

As the system boots from the dvd and starts the setup process, it always gets stuck on the iousb, and hangs at "still waiting for root..." Hey guys! I've got the P5K, but I'm also getting the "still waiting for root device" during installation. I've tried both the black, red and the jmicron sata port, but same result everywhere? What do I need to do? should I hook my sata dvd and hdd up? Any special bios settings? Thanks!
fruktsallad
OK, since no one has answered I'll answer my question myself. The SATA configuration must be set to AHCI in BIOS, otherwise the hdd won't be recognized.
Hirez
Well i at least appreciate the input We should have a total n00b guide (for ppl like me) with some of these new boards, and Gigabyte and Asus should REALLY have their two threads with everything put into them. It would be nice to read ONE post explaining how ppl got it to work, like Bios settings, use of versions etc.etc.
