Is it just me or does everyone else notice that 2 out of 3 tv commercials as well as magazine ads featuring someone using a laptop, features a MBP or Apple laptop of some sort??? It amazes me!! The only thing is, they always cover the nameplate, and cover the apple on the lid, but I can tell it's an Apple by the powerbutton (on a commercial I saw tonight for a feminine product), or some other obscure identifier. How does that all work in advertising anyway?? What do they do, ask Apple if they can use their brand of laptop, and Apple wants a royalty, so they just say screw it(to paying the royalty), we'll just cover up the name and decals/etc, and use it without showing the name????

Anyway, i just thought it was kinda funny that i seem to be seeing more of them in advertising lately, which I'm sure is mostly due to owning one myself.....:2cents:

I can think specifically of a Toyota commerical where an iMac is used, and I know which commerical you mean with a MBP that is covered with a flower sticker (I think it's some type of medicine). I also noticed that even if they don't show the actual computer, they might have a website being shown in Safari. I think that just comes down to the fact that it's a lot better looking than IE.

I wonder if it might be the other way around with the royalty thing. Why would Apple want another company to pay to advertise Apple's own products. I'm thinking maybe the advertising companies want Apple to pay, but Apple doesn't want to.

well i'm sure he gets benefits, but that goes both ways. He wants what's best for Apple, too.

You know that song by Melissa Etheridge at the end on An Inconvenient Truth? I'm pretty sure it's the same title as the movie... anyways, it's exclusively avaiable on iTunes. It helps Apple to have something exclusive, and it helps Gore because it's the #1 legal downloading service anyways!

PS I like Al Gore!
