TorqueX86
My TRAGIC experience: Check my rig in my signature. Updated with loki installer, machine rebooted slow but fine. No QE /CI enabled, at all, so I reinstalled Natit_Uni. Catastrophe. Machine wouldnt EVER boot into GUI anymore, not even with -x -f or deleting natit.kext Hope a new package is up and running soon
Chrysaor
Updater worked great for me, for now only had to replace PowerManagement.bundle for battery icon to work. New kernel doesn't work for some reason, it stalls after "BSD root".
mifki
anoynimouss, i have taken down the links, i didn't realise the kernel was still in beta beta beta stages. If anyone wants to get the kernel, follow the link on http://www.semthex.com to their new network and join #1049. In the new update, it will be without the 10.4.9 kernel. Sorry for any trouble caused EDIT: For those with BSDRoot troubles, tryi using a older IOPCIFamily.kext
joe75
I tried 4.8 and 4.7 IOPCI and still wont boot

WaldMeister
I noticed video and audio stuttering, or no sound at all (Only during movies), also application crashes. The audio could be because i'm using an older versions of azalia, the video could be a missing codec (doubt it), the application crashes i can't explain, it mostly happens when i close an application. mifki
ATI kexts dont play well without the new kernel, neither does the opengl.framework. So replace them with older versions
WaldMeister
Well, i have the new kernel, so that shouldn't be the issue, maybe replacing the AppleSMBIOS.kext will help? Edited March 15, 2007 by Lejenk
enb14
This is an screen shot I'm having this problem, I didn't copied the IOATA because I have an intel D945GNTL motherboard, WHat I did was added the r3d3 kext on rc file located at /etc, I added this: kextload /System/Library/Extensions/r3d3.kext but even on -s it doesn't works Edited March 15, 2007 by enb14

DiaboliK
ATI kexts dont play well without the new kernel, neither does the opengl.framework. So replace them with older versions i beg to differ. the 10.4.9 ATI kexts work fine it just the opengl the need to be worked on (you should really use the combo update not the delta) -DiaboliK

taesun21
I think my os x has a problem after updating to 10.4.9 I want to copy some backup kexts back to see if it fixes the hang, but from the dvd, i can see files only from the dvd. After I boot from the installation dvd, and run terminal, what's the commands to move to the osx partition on my harddrive?
mifki
If you hang on BSD Root, then vist the irc.osx86.hu and join #1049, and grab the newest kernel. http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/5141/screenud1.png

bob2600
I downloaded the new kiko update off of demonoid and installed the 10.4.9 kernel and I seem to be having trouble with the new 8.9.1 kernel because after the update I get this kernel panic: Panic(cpu 0 caller 0x01AA86A): Local APIC error Debugger called: <panic> Backtrace, format - frame : Return Address (4 Potential args on stack) 0x108f48 : 0x128d08 (0x3cb134 0x108f6c 0x131de5 0x0) 0x108f48 : 0x1aa86a (0x3d1bf8 0x364 0xbfe9fbff 0x0) 0x108fa8 : 0x3bb933 (0xdb 0x146e3c28 0x57e000 0x0) 0x108fe8 : 0x19aef0 (0x146e3c28 0x146e3c28 0x57e00 0x0) 0x146e3c88 : 0x248bc79a (0x2d91e44 0x1 0xfff 0x0) 0x146e3c88 : 0x248bb522 (0x8 0x2 0x420 0x138bee) 0x146e3fc8 :0x16ac1c (0x2f96360 0x0 0x19e0b5 0x2d7f348) Backtrace Terminated-Invalid framepointer 0x0 Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies): com.apple.driver.applertc(1.0.3)@0x2a592000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.acpi.IOACPIFamily(1.2.0)@0x24869000 Com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform(1.0.3)@248a4000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.1)0x24856000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.acpi.IOACPIFamily(1.2.0)@0x24869000 Kernel Version: Darwin Kernel Version 8.9.1: Thu Mar 15 20:55:00 PST 2007; netkas: 792.18.15~1/RELEASE_I386 When updating to the new kernel is the old one saved somewhere on the volume or is it deleted? Proteo
I'm having exactly the same result as bob2600, and I applied the update with the new kernel option checked. It was solved by replacing back mach_kernel (Mifki 8.8.1), AppleSMBIOS.kext, System.kext and IOATAFamily.kext. So I guess it should be easy to fix once we know what exactly is the problematic file. [EDIT] A couple of minor issues. I cannot login into MSN anymore, and the eject key on my Apple keyboard has stopped working. Any ideas? [EDIT] The MSN problem seems to be Microsoft-related.
