Apple is probably aware of the HFS issues and they will be resolved in future betas. It's even mentioned in the release notes of 26.4 beta 1.

External Media

Known Issues

  • HFS external media might fail to mount automatically. (168672160)

Workaround: For macOS only, use CLI tool diskutil mount to attach the relevant disk device.

This is good news, it seems to only exist in B1

@LoBlanc I can't take credit for intel Wi-Fi since I have just followed what others have recommended.  Here are the steps that I followed:

  • Inject itlwm.kext 2.3.0 via your boot loader (e.g., Kernel > Add ...)
  • Install Heliport 1.5.0 in Applications
  • System Settings > General > Open at Login: add Heliport (thank you @Matgen84 for this tip)
  • System Settings > Wi-Fi: Off (itlwm does not use macOS Wi-Fi framework)
  • System Settings > Menu Bar > Wi-Fi: Off (don't show Wi-Fi in Menu Bar since itlwm doesn't use macOS Wi-Fi framework)

Intel Wi-Fi will start after you login.

Rosetta Deprecations

As announced at WWDC in 2025, macOS Tahoe 26 is the last release to support Intel based Macs. Additionally, Rosetta support for apps will end after macOS 27. Starting in macOS Tahoe 26.4, users will be notified when they launch apps that use Rosetta of the upcoming incompatibility.

During the beta period, the cadence of notifications will be accelerated, enabling Apple and developers to address any issues that might occur.

There will continue to be support for older, unmaintained gaming titles leveraging Rosetta along with software running Intel binaries in Linux VMs.

Organizations using a device management service can control the notification experience with the allowRosettaUsageAwareness key. (169228455):censored:

Tahoe 26.4 breaks down when trying to install AppleHDA.kext with Mykext installer.

Anyone else affected?

Hello

Download and install the KDK (Kernel Development Kit) is mandatory to use MyKext Installer, if I remember correctly. Just my opinion, at this time, I don't think that the appropriate KDK exists for 26.4 Beta.

So, right now, I can't boot. :)) The joys of using a hack. :)) Sometimes that's bound to happen, especially when using a Beta version. But I knew that when pressing the "Update" button, and already have a few workarounds for it. So that's ok.

Right now, it looks like it's not even trying to boot the system. I get the Apple logo for a second, empty loading bar underneath, and force reboot immediately after. :))

So....yeah, looks like KDK support is necessary for 26.4, so even though the update itself goes smoothly, OCLP patches don't work at the moment. And some of my partitions give me an error for HFS+.

But no problem, it's not the main machine, everything works fine with Sequoia. And for this one, I'll just revert to last sealed snapshot and that's it. :)

Update: looks like it's only the AppleHDA patch that doesn't work. The WiFi patch works fine. So...if you don't mind this, and the HFS+ thing, you can still apply root patches with OCLP-Mod. Just make sure to disable AppleHDA patches first.

If you dare, use the 3.1.6 Tahoe patchset.
You might be able to boot and get Wi-Fi.
I can't promise more, but be careful:
1. Insert the boot argument amfi=0x80
2. Disable the Modern Audio patch for AppleHDA restoration in settings.

Even with OCLP-Mod 3.1.5 wifi works, just uncheck Pach Audio, for audio you have to wait, KDK 26,4 from Apple, RX audio works

OCLP-Mod 3.1.5 is not working with 26.4, it broke it and I had to reinstall 26.4. I thing same issues with other patches

The advice is simple: Don't install beta versions until Apple fixes the discovered bugs and more experienced users adapt the bootloader to work with the new version of macOS.

Easy update to macOS Tahoe 26.4 Beta (25E5218f).

  • Still using VoodooHDA.kext 3.0.3 for audio and I'm not using Wi-Fi on this hack, so no root patches.  SIP csr-active-config = <01000000> for VoodooHDA.kext.
  • Using Lilu.kext 1.7.2 (Beta) with WhateverGreen.kext 1.7.0 (Release) for smooth macOS update without disabling Polaris dGPU
  • Temporarily disabled BluetoolFixup.kext for incremental update

  • HFS+ is fixed with this Beta update (was there ever any doubt? :))
