Painless OTA update to macOS 26.4 beta 3 (25E5223i) on an secure but admittedly very slow external USB test drive — everything completed without issues but the OTA update (approximately 3.6 GB) lasted about 2 1/2 hours :hysterical:

Warning: There is currently no Kernel Debug Kit (KDK) available for macOS 26.4 beta 3.

For modern Wi-Fi root patching, use either OCLP 3.1.6 Nightly or OCLP-Mod 3.1.5.

Keep the modern audio root patch (AppleHDA) disabled until a matching KDK becomes available:

Good luck, KGP 👍

Updates are getting easier and easier... smooth update from Tahoe 26.4 Beta 2 -> Beta 3.  Temporarily disabled BluetoolFixup.kext for incremental update.

Have you seen the latest KDK for 26.3.1?
I have the impression that they just added it, but with the date 27/02
Screenshot 2026-03-04 at 21.56.37.png

Maybe this one will work with AppleHDA.kext and 26.4 beta

--EDIT--

No, it does not work :( It just broke the os
We'll really have to wait for the KDK of the 26.4 final version

Have you a working BT on your Hacki

Hello.

I'm not sure if this will answer your question.

I have a Trust 18187 Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter. It works on macOS 26.4. The kexts I'm using are: IntelBluetoothPatcher, IntelBluetoothFirmware, BluetoolFixup.kext. -btlfxbeta. In NVRAM, there is a "bluetoothExternalDongleFailed DATA 00 -bluetoothInternalControllerInfo DATA 0000000000000000000000000000. Regards.

Hello @AlfredoM, my friend, yes I am using it on some older hacks and they have always worked with the patches from @chris1111

Hey guys,

Has any of you guys tried to use an older SMBIOS with Tahoe, or even Sequoia? I tested a few things and looks like, at least on my hardware, using MacPro7,1 makes the entire system really laggy. I'm guessing it's expecting the hardware from a MacPro7,1 which obviously I don't have. But I'm wondering if you guys tried an older SMBIOS with Tahoe (like iMac14,2, iMac14,3, stuff like this, with -no_compat_check boot arg). Also, do you think it could create issues with iMessage/Facetime? I'm asking cause for some reason I got my Apple account kinda blocked...but only for FaceTime and iMessage. Managed to fix it, but...kind weird. Never happened before. Could be because of the SMBIOS, or maybe the fact that I'm logging into multiple OSes...I don't know.

Anyway, I'm only curious if you guys tried Tahoe (or Sequoia) with older SMBIOS and you've noticed an improvement in performance compared to MacPro7,1 SMBIOS.

edit: Youtube also doesn’t lag and stutter like crazy anymore with this method.

I used iMac 14,2 before jumping to MacPro 7,1 and given my specs MacPro was an improvement. I use CPUFriend and nmano patches to get good performance.

Very easy update from Tahoe 26.4 Beta 3 to Beta 4 (25E5233c).  Now using VoodooHDA.kext 3.1.0 with SIP csr-active-config = <01000000> for clear, quality audio (and better audio output detection) and I'm still using Intel itlwm 2.3.0 for Wi-Fi, so no root patches.  Temporarily disabled BluetoolFixup.kext for incremental update.

This Beta update did not automatically enable "Share Mac Analytics" which I usually disable after Beta updates

Just another rather uneventful OTA update to Tahoe beta 4 (25E5233c), which once again leaves us without a matching Kernel Debug Kit (KDK) for modern Audio (AppleHDA) root patch testing. For the time being, keep the modern audio (AppleHDA) patch disabled when using OCLP-Mod 3.1.5 or OCLP 3.1.6 Nightly.

The update itself was also quite an adventure on my end, as I’m still running my beta tests from an external USB SSD for safety reasons while happily keeping my internal macOS 26.3.1 Tahoe production installs untouched. With the inevitable USB lag during the OTA update, every boot, and the final login, the whole process took a leisurely five hours today.

To make future beta updates a bit less of an endurance test, I’ve now ordered an EVO 860 1TB SATA SSD for 79 bucks — which at the same time reminded me how much SATA SSD prices have climbed lately (around 168 bucks for a new EVO 870 1TB).

Let’s hope the upcoming RC finally brings the long-awaited KDK — or we may find out whether Apple plans to release it only together with the official 26.4 release.

Good night, folks! 👍
